stand-off in berkley
Or avoid Berkley. I made a trip to the Berkley National Lab one time. If you do not know, the lab is on a hill top. Driving up the hill I looked over and here was an old man, at least in his 70's, walking around, totally naked. Probably, as the song goes, "An Old Hippee".
This goes to show that someone can be very knowledgeable about one or a few things, and completely ignorant or foolish when it comes to other things, especially common sense. Just because one is an expert in one field doesn't mean they'd make a good bureaucrat or politician. We've all seen a competent worker promoted to supervisor and the result is disaster, because that person doesn't know how to manage people, or is terrified to make a decision.
You can go to any college town anywhere in the country and run into the same types of people. Jerry Clower said they were educated beyond their intelligence.
Wayal... they IS a difference between Raleigh (NCSU) and Chapel Hill (UNC-CH), and Blacksburg (Vajenya Tech) and Charlottesville (UVA).
There's times I wonder how the folks in Chapel Hill and Charlottesville manage to tie their shoes in the morning. Students at the schools they disdainfully call cow colleges solve the problem by wearing pull-on boots!🤠
Even other schools in the UNC system will roll their eyes at some of what comes out of the Chapel Hill flagship. And to think I once had ambitions of going to their broadcast and journalism school...

Just one of the many reasons I moved from the East Bay to Phoenix, I worked in Daly City for a short time and then Lafayette. My brother worked in Berkely and I worked with him on a side job in lower Oakland. Truly the Land of Fruits and Nuts! But bad drivers are everywhere.
