Neil Peart
Neil Peart
The Rush drummer has died at age 67 after fighting brain cancer several years. The Roanoke rock station played about an hour of Rush last night including "Red Barchetta", which is the best song about the sheer joy of driving a car I know of.
RIP rocker.
RIP rocker.
Peart placed fourth on Rolling Stone’s list of 100 Greatest Drummers of All Time, just behind Ginger Baker, Keith Moon and John Bonham.
Great memories of seeing Rush live in ‘79 ‘80 and ‘81. But hated parking my 442 in the spectrum parking lot in South Philly!
Rest in Peace Neil.

He passed Tuesday, Jan 7th at home with Family. Always a class act, private soft-spoken man. Truely in the top 5 percussionist without a doubt. I saw Rush many times live as they were a road band. Awesome EVERY time. My first ticket was $6.50 with an opener. Still have the tickets.
Neil wrote most of the lyrics for Rush.
Farewell to The King. Exit Stage Left in style. Closer To The Heart you are my friend...like a breeze in the Trees, ride that big Red Barchetta off into Xanadu...RIP Mr Peart.

RIP Neil, Great music!, great memories!! I grew up in western NY (Niagara Falls area) Rush was HUGE in our area when I was in school in the 70s. They came out of Toronto,we could see them there or when they came to Buffalo.
IMO, Neil Peart is the best drummer of all time, not in agreement w/ the Rolling Stone's ranking. Nobody can match the quartz-locked timing of Peart's Tom Sawyer. Seen them twice back in the late '70s and '80s. I'll never forget being a big ELP fan in HS but had never even heard of Rush until a friend loaned me 2112. So sad to hear of Neil's passing. Palladium had a special on Rush some years ago I recorded (Beyond the Lighted Stage), excellent history on the band and their early days of touring with Kiss. RIP Neil. Heaven's now has its drummer, let the rock show begin.
