With all the media talking about health care and infomercials today our Congress is preparing to vote on cap and trade tomarrow.

I don't care what political affiliation you are. If this passes we are talking about the biggest tax increase in the history of our nation. The price of EVERYTHING will increase if this goes through. Industry is not going to absorb any of this. They WILL pass it on to us. Don't let them tell you it will only cost you about the cost of the postage stamp a day. That might be your direct cost but the indirect cost is going to astronomical. Call your represenatives today!!!!

 

I don't see how this would drastically change the price of EVERYTHING.

 

Everything needs energy transportation, manufacturing, municipalities etc. Your gas, electricity, heating oil will all be affected and so will everyone elses. It will cost more to opperate anything from a small local store to a large corporation. They will pass the costs to you.

This also creates a new derivitives market that is one more way for big hedge funds to manipulate markets. The super rich get super richer and we all pay.

The document is reported to be 1200 pages long so most of our representatives won't read it. It's being sold as a "climate change bill" but the effects will be to tax energy use and apply that tax revenue to research new green energy. There is a push to force it through before there can be serious discussion on it. Please, make the time to look into it. There are several conservative sites discussing it. If your viewpoint is more liberal then google it and find other references to read up on it.

Please take the time to understand this from the supposed "opposing point of view". Quick search will find plenty of info.

This is not good for the country or the people of this great nation.

Folks need to get off of their behinds and not let this country slip any further out of (y)our hands. Far too many of you fellow countrymen have spilled their blood to give us the freedoms we have (or should I say ...freedoms we have left). Men and women like your neighbors, and sons, and daughters - these are the folks you know; consider those whom you don't know, now and over the many years of this young nation, they were all lovers of freedom. There will be other aggressors, outside of our country who will want to take your freedoms from you... don't let it happen from within. Become educated, tell your friends, tell your representatives! - VOTE. We are not a democracy we are a Representative Republic, If you don’t understand that please learn – it isn’t being taught correctly in our schools.

I am liberal than most and I served in the US Army. Don't try to use the "Support Our Troops" band wagon to get people to think that your ideas are right.

Call and encourage your Congressman to vote no on H.R. 2454 - the cap and trade "global warming" legislation.

Democrat John Dingell (D-MI) says H.R. 2454 is "a tax and it's a great big one."

Democrat Charlie Melancon (D-LA) says, "I believe this bill would create an undue burden on families who are already paying too much in energy bills."

Democrat Mike Ross (D-AR) says of Cap and Trade, "'If you don't like $4-a-gallon gasoline, you're really not going to like your electric bill sometime between now and 2030."

Couldn't get through on the phone. Sent a LONG email. Hope they actually look at it. Of all the cockamamie hair brained ideas coming out of Washington lately... Where is ol Ronnie when you need him?

Well it barley passed the house We have to get this stopped in the Senate. For every one "green" job it creates we lose 2.5.
Converative estimates are 2,000,000+ US jobs will be lost over this deal.

Do you own research on what similar laws have done over seas. We are turning the last bit of American industry over to India and China if this happens.

Anybody who voted for this administration is getting exactly what they deserve. The rest of us just get screwed. This is about lining the pockets of Obama supporters. Really huge money. Billions upon billions. It is a shame on america.

It's over for America guys. Hate to say it, but the phone calls against the stimulus (which didn't do anything but put us further into debt) were running 2 to 300 to 1 against and they still passed it. YOU make no difference anymore. Bye bye GM and anyone else they want gone. It's happening. Screaming will make no difference. I sincerely hope this doesn't offend any Obama supporters out there. I am not trying to be offensive, just realistic.

 

These people don't listen to anything we say! THEY JUST DON'T CARE ABOUT US! They have their fat pensions, perfect health care, and all the money they can spend. Next they will find a way for those of us that have good health care to lose that along with the few jobs we have left. It is a shame and a crime.
