Motor is out finally

About to start the rebuild of my 455. Just pulled motor today, looking at my pile of parts and list of ones to get makes this task seem daunting. Labor of love

I see two different hoists in your pics. Did one not work out?

Sweet. Assuming you have an engine stand to mount that bad boy. Enjoy.

455 build

Yeah the first hoist wasn’t long enough to reach without removing the front end. Thank god for good friends. Doing a full rebuild with all new rotating assembly. Bored .040 over, 11-1 compression flat top pistons, port matched aluminum heads and intake, comp cams timing set, cam, lifters, push rods, springs, and roller rockers. Full serpentine set up with aluminum water pump and swapping over to Muncie M21 4 speed. Once this part of the build is done it’s on to rebuilding the rear with 3.42 gears to replace the 3.08 posi I have now. Should be fun when she’s done.

Its a labor of love all right. And a damn exciting one. I think I like engine building the most of all the car related work...besides driving these darn things.

i miss driving her so much already. Only been a few weeks and it pains me to see it all torn apart. The thought of the end product though gives me some relief. This project will have spells like this though where I’ll have to go a few months without just to make sure it’s done right. Figure I have another 40 or so years left in me to enjoy her. Then one of my kids will take over the labor of love
