Who's going to homecoming?

Hi All,
This is the first time in a few years I can actually make it. I was wondering who else is going? If there is already a thread about this, I didn't find it in my brief search.

I will definitely be checking out the swap area too. Hopefully I will be there with my son. Have we done anything in the past to find each other or recognize other forum members?

Homecoming

It has been on my "Bucket List" for years, now I am finally going and bringing my W30.
Anyone else from Canada going?

My wife and I will be the newbies to this show. Been thrashing on my car since last fall. Everytime I turn around, I find something else I want to fix or replace to make it acceptable for the show. We'll be there Friday for the cruise and Saturday for the show. If you see me, introduce yourself or say "Hi".

as jackie stewart would say, "it shouldta be a beautiful ddday- for annn olsssmobile show " or something close to that.

if mother nature gives michigan a break in the weather---the run from northwest indiana is not fer-away.

the 70' sherwood 442 will be there--- oh, and don't forget the cruise in at
downtown dimondale friday night.

I won't be able to make anything Friday night, but I didn't know there was a cruise. Maybe next year we can get out there on Friday.

Looks like it will be hot n humid, near 90°. The showers, if any, should be south of Lansing, according to the latest forecast. Anyone coming from Indiana or Ohio probably run into some rain on the way there, but good afterwards.

I will! My car is far from perfect. I wouldn't want it to be perfect cause I'd be afraid of driving it and mine is a driver so it will never be perfect.

The rain is here again. I think I'll keep the Olds dry in the garage again this year.

Well, we drove through a downpour on the way there, but hey, why not, it's Homecoming. A pretty decent turnout considering despite the rain, we did get one rain shower while there, no big deal, but we sat in the car until it passed, and absolutely sweltered from the humidity in the car. Got a few pics, and met Bowtie Bri, and saw his super nice '70 W30 pictured above. Nice talking with you Bri. (Brian?). I should have asked.

Yep, a really nice turnout! The rain was only ten minutes! I seen people get in their cars and leave????? If you just sit there, you will only have to wipe it down after it passes. the cars won't melt.

I seen it coming and checked the radar on the phone and was prepared. Jumped in the 70 and turned the A/C on and bumped the idle with my foot a bit.

I went through the swap meet, a good majority of the parts or collectibles that me and my buddies asked about, had some really proud numbers. And then some people had great prices like head rest for $3.

And the same for the cars for sale, had healthy price tags. The black 66 or 67 cutlass I did not pay much attention to the year but the car was really nice and already had sold on it. Asking price was 16,900. You could not restore one for that price.

I will post up some pictures in the near future. I spoke to bow tie bri also. Again not paying attention and introducing myself. Very nicely done car!

Friday night in downtown Dimondale had probably 100 cars - nice show with olds having the main area of town with exclusive parking. good band / couple of pubs & lots of nice people hanging out.

Brought the 442 but never entered the show area- figured the rain held back quite a few cars, seems as though I was correct. Noticed the volunteers at the entry to be quite obsessed with parking of the show cars, like as if classic olds enthusiasts don't know how to keep distance between show vehicles. needless to say it was enjoyable & even came upon parts I needed.

We were there with our 65 2 dr post, with the motor city rockets. didn't have any problems with or notice any problems with staff, very friendly. a little rain its true, but everyone that could get under our pop-up did and it worked out. wiped the car down and enjoyed the rest of the day. some really nice machines, of course my eye was drawn to 64/65 types. all in all a GREAT day.

ankerclanker,

now that you mentioned the 64/65 era..... there was a gentleman there at the cruise in downtown dimondale that had a 64 vista wagon. i did not know this vehicle existed.
of course, the top only had one layer of windows....not two as the 69/70 models.
he showed me the pictures of the restoration, and a tremendous amount of work went into the process of bringing it back. it originally was a two tone paint from the factory...but he finished it in a light silver---absolutely beautiful. just as a finishing touch he added 442 badges on the fenders. hope you caught it on the showfield.

We had a great time at the show. The people were all so friendly and made my wife and I feel welcome. The cruise in was alot of fun! The show went by so fast, I didn't get a chance to see all the cars. We also stopped by the R.E. Olds Museum for a tour and some Ice cream after the car show. A side from the little bit of rain (Mother Nature's Car wash) , we enjoyed the show very much!! We'll be back next year!
