RIP John Glenn

The man lived to be 95 after going into space. I guess going into space is good for you. The man was a class act from beginning to end.

Apparently going into space not only helped Senator Glenn, it also helped his wife as she is still alive at age 96 and was married to Mr. Glenn for 73 years.

I'd say that if you've got to go, then being airlifted out of Antarctica at 95 years old after having been all over this planet, having been to outer space, and having served as a US Senator, is the way to go.

RIP.

Oh, crap. Really?

Jeez.

Never mind.

He still kicked butt, though.

The story of his marriage and Annie's battle with stuttering and how John protected her for all those years is inspirational. And Ted Williams was his wingman in Korea.

my first memory of a living hero and a heroic deed. I was 6 and remember watching his launch, flight and splashdown on the black and white tv.

Since I heard of his passing I have not been able to get the song "The Epic Ride of John H. Glenn" from the '60's. If memory serves it was done by Walter Brennan. When asked if he was scared before his first launch, his response was that "he was sitting on top of thousands of pounds of highly flammable fuel and bolted into a tiny capsule built by the lowest bidder. Maybe just a little..." Absolutely one of the greatest heroes of our time.

Godspeed John Glenn!

I'm sure Mr. Aldrin would be shocked to discover that he's suddenly become 95 years old, too!

Well, not to prematurely age the guy, but he is 86.

RIP John Glenn. I watched his first launch when I was in grade school. Back then the whole school watched the space launches.
