We've got about 3 inches so far. When I left Gaithersburg at about 3 pm it was just starting so they probably have more . Last report 8-16 here. DC was 18 -30. So I know what I ll be doing tomorrow.

Looking at about 12 inches on the mid shore. Depends on if we get rain mixing in here. I'm seeing guesses from 6-18 inches. Wind has started to pick-up.

When I was in the Navy, I was stationed at NAS Willow Grove, Pa. I was in the Naval Weather Service as a weather observer. Still an E3 and fresh graduate of AG "A" school, I was learning all I could about forecasting weather. The Senior Chief of the weather office was a lifer named Nugent. One day he came into work and wrote down his prediction on the chalk board. "Newt's prediction, 12 to 18 inches of snow by the weekend" Since this was on Tuesday, I was skeptic about his prediction that far out. But sure enough on Thursday a low pressure moved up the coast on the East side of the Smokies and it did snow 16 inches Friday. He was the most accurate forecaster I ever knew. Found out later he made E9 before he retired. Very few AG's make over E7.

I'm watching this weather unfold on CP24 here in Canada, many getting buried in snow and the flooding. What I don't understand is how many are stuck on the road getting buried in snow when we heard about this storm coming to your parts days in advance.
Did people really need to get out in that and get stuck in this snow ?
I hope everyone here in those areas stay safe warm and dry .

SE Ohio checking in at approximately 16-17 inches. I plowed the driveway for 1 1/2 hours last night, and 2 hours this morning. It's finally stopped just now. Another, hour of plowing and should be good.

It's hard to tell the true depth, given the drifts, but here in Northern VA, we've got at least two feet and it's still snowing. 30" isn't out of the question by the time it's done. Our farm road is about half a mile long to the public road (which is also gravel). It's a mile to pavement. I don't expect to be able to get out until Tuesday. For Chris, here's a photo:

So my house, under renovation in Evansville, apparently got some. I'll go down tomorrow. The plant and my apartment up here in Princeton, were north enough to dodge the bullet.

Got about 3 inches here so far. The snow doesn't bother me (being born in Maine) but losing power makes me uneasy every time.

NYC Mayor is shutting the city down. Non Emergency vehicles must be off the road by 2:30pm until further notice. All NYC transit bus service is suspended until further noticed and elevated trains will stop running at 4pm. Looks like I'll be using one of my sick days.

Unfortunately, not too far from the truth, either. If you say any of the snowfall maps, Loudoun County, VA is pretty much the bull's eye for this storm. I think I even saw one map that showed "Joe's house" in the middle of it...

Three feet is not out of the question by the time it stops late tonight.

And naturally, the roll-up door that I ordered for my shop was supposed to be delivered this coming week. I frantically contacted the company yesterday and convinced them to delay shipment. Ironically, exactly the same thing happened in 2010 when my 62 wagon was supposed to be delivered the day after the "Snowmageddon" storms.

Los Angeles or Lower Alabama? Either way would be better, looks like the Lord aimed at your town to park this thing.

Well everybody stay safe and hunkered down. Up here in Michigan we have barely enough snow to cover the ground. Weird not having a foot or more this time of year.

Last night shortly after it started, we had 6-8 inches as did everyone else more or less. There was a hole in the storm over York, reading, Lancaster area. No snow at all I don't know when it started there.

Hard to say what we got in Trenton NJ as the drifting is severe, will guess 20 inches and we are still getting some snow... The Custom Cruiser is in the deep freeze...

About 8 inches here but 10 miles to the north 12-16 inches. Had a period of rain that kept the amount down,

Just got inside everything is dug out vehicles are all cleaned of. Probably 24 inches. I looked at my tractor 99% sure it's the t/ o bearing. I looked on the internet any where from $650 to $200 for clutch kit. Anybody know we're to buy jd parts . If I have to split the tractor I might as well change the whole clutch.

Here in southern KY we received 12 - 14", which is a lot for here. Third highest one day total in history. We were without power for part of the day on Friday. Beautiful sunny day today. They are forecasting 59 for a high on Sat. If you dont like the weather in KY just wait till tomorrow, it will change. Hope everyone is safe.

Uh the JD dealer? Yeah, that's not yellow paint, it's real gold...

What kind of JD? If it's a Yanmar-based tractor, there are less expensive Yanmar parts sources.

Ag parts ltd. Usually have quality reman pressure plates and disc(cerametalliac or fiber) new throw out and pilot bearings.

Is this a single or dual stage clutch?

Don't know. I have a shop manual for it . Just haven't had time to look at it. My brother and I are butchering next Saturday weather permitting. After that I can put the tractor in my shop and assess the problem. I still have to take off the loader and snow plow. Funny we were just talking about what would be involved in changing the clutche.

When things are operating with PTO engaged with an implement on it, can you push the clutch pedal half way down and the PTO will stop turning and the ground travel will not be effected. If push it down all the way the obvious will happen.

This is dual stage.^^^^

Single stage, depress clutch and all will stop!

I've got a 1979 JD 850, also a rebodied Yanmar. I get parts from Hoye Tractor. Got a new injector pump for half the cost of the dealership part (same p/n). I doubt your tractor has a two stage clutch. On the 850, the two-stage clutch wasn't introduced until 1981. Mine is single stage.

9" at the house, drive 25 mile SE to work this morning and probably not more than 5", and a lot of that melted yesterday when temps got in low 50s.

Damn mess however much we had. I can't imagine fighting 2 feet of the stuff.

I bought a YanMar tractor last summer and never heard the thing run. Or so it seems time I went thru all the rehab for a torn rotator cuff, and still looking at RC surgery next month. Ended up buying a Ferguson 135 which far as I'm concerned is still gold standard for bushhogging, which is mostly what I use it for.

Nope. The irregular paving stones and terrain prohibit using one. That's all done by hand.

I'll admit to paying a neighbor kid 20 bucks to clean my walks and driveway. No way would my back and shoulder tolerate it anymore. I did clean the cars off and that was enough. Shoulder is letting me know bout that too...
