What are you grilling this weekend?

Does anyone have any grilling experiences to share?

On the menu today, a Boston butt pork shoulder cut. I'll make this for pulled pork sammichs. All done by the start of the Coke Cola 600.

A little dry rub is applied, and seared over the coals on all sides. Then placed away from the heat for next 4 to 5 hours. Using a weber charcoal grill and the indirect method. This will be followed up with cob corn still in the shuck. I"ll do some burgers too.

I'll try to post pics...again, when this silly site will allow it.

I have 10lbs of chicken wings marinating in buttermilk , salt , pepper and garlic. I cookem' low and slow on the weber with indirect heat , fires on both sides and chicky in the middle. Lots of apple and maple chunks added during the 2 hour cooking adventure send up smoke signals for the vultures to home in on.

Bon appetit

By the way Lowes has 2 bag bundles , 40 pounds , of kingsford charcoal for $10 a bundle. I am off to buy 6 bundles when they open at 8am

CHEERS

Hey don71, have you tried the Weber rotisserie over indirect heat? Works great for roasts, turkeys, etc.
Nonetheless, what you're preparing sounds delicious. Corn on the Weber is great.

Sounds yummy so far!
My neighbor and I are almost done building my new grill hut. I never had a good place to store a large grill, or use it without smoking up the house either.
I plan to buy a wood pellet grill, since my luck with charcoal was too unpredictable and gas does not make the 'grilled' flavor that I want. My neighbor has a big Traeger grill and it makes some great stuff, so I will likely get that one also.

So hopefully next year at this time I will be having a real Memorial day cookout!

The wings disappeared like magic after they came off the grill. I hoped to have a few left over last monday to try beer batter deep fry. I guess I will have to fire up both webers next time!

I really have a hankering for some pulled pork after seeing don71 's bbq picture

ENJOY

I grilled up corn, potatoes, steakburgers and angus beef hotdogs yesterday on the old charcoaller. I was able to regulate the heat better this time and everything came out excellent! Shared with the neighbors, too. The grill gods were with me that day...

I have a few recipes , but one that stands out is .... ribs with indirect heat , and when close to being done , start adding BBQ sauce and flip every 15 min recoating everytime . In the oven is the same except when the ribs are getting close to done you elevate them out of juice , and then add the BBQ sauce . My wife came up with a great marinade for Shiskabobs , but I don't know what the ingredients are except for one .... A real good Soy Sauce . You would not beleive how many people don't know how to cook a good hamburger . Either they are smashing it down with a spatula running all the juice out of the burger , or over salting it before it cooks which makes it tough . I have also seen people scrub their grill clean before they use it too You guys all have good recipes and ideas

Low and slow indirect heat is the secret to the juicy burger! I do not flip'em either. I had mine with a fried egg on top today

Side note lowes had kingsford 2 20 pound bags for 10bucks special price for labor day
