"Waiting for loadus exelerator.com...."

What the heck is this loadus exelerator.com ?? I've lost several posts on this site when I hit 'Reply' and it goes to this stupid intermediate loader??? I now have to copy every post before it goes through. Posts USED TO say: 'Waiting for ClassicOldsmobile.com", now it's this other thing.. If it's an attempt to speed up the site, it's not working very well.

When I hit 'Reply', the screen just goes blank and the bottom left says 'waiting for loadus exelerator.com'. Then it just hangs up and doesn't do anything on longer posts. I can walk away from the puter and come back 5 minutes later and the little spinning arrow on the posting tab is still spinning doing nothing.

If I'm lucky, some 'small posts' it will still take only 5-10 seconds to post. This site is getting really wonky with it's overall performance. Sometimes it works great, other times it just sux.

I'm getting this on my 'preview post' page now too!

Any of you see this on your system??

Never seen that but that is probably something your ISP is doing to you. Now I was getting "database errors" a lot. I gave up on posting then.
I hate this because after just one error, stupid firefox will call this site "database error" in the dropdown list forever.

It's not my ISP that's doing it Rob. I also had the same stupid 'database error' message come up several times. Worst part was I was already on a post and hit 'reply' when it happened. No warning or nothing!! And then all C.O. went down. I think it's something Internet Brands is experimenting with.....

I'm not using Firefox - I'm using Google Chrome and still finding wierd little things about it not to like.

Hopefully this problem goes away soon. If it doesn't, I think it will drive me to drinkin (that's small town not far from here) where the suds are cold and...free to the right person!!

I just did a quick Google search and found that it appears to be an advertising script used by Internet Brands, who have used it on many of their other forums as well. Apparently using Firefox with the AdBlocker add-on blocks it.

Any idea why it causes such a delay at times? Any way to block it on Google Chrome?

I don't believe any other browser has an ad blocker like Firefox...I use Firefox w/ Adblocker plus and I never see pop ups, or have hang ups. I think this site works wonderfully...I've never had a problem. I don't know whether to attribute that to internet brands, my ISP (suddenlink cable internet), or Firefox browser.

FireFox + AdBlock is definitely the best browser combo I have ever used. Makes any page you go to much less cluttered, and faster loading.

I haven't had issues here recently, but I have seen the "Database Error" and slow loading times in the past.

ABP does have a Chrome version now:

I'd probably give it a shot if I ran Chrome. If it's no good, there's always http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/new/ ...

Bryan, thank you. I just added it to my Chrome. We'll see how it works out. If its not effective I'll think of switching to Firefox

I'm running IE9 with a Norton Security package. A pop-up is an extremely rare thing. I've had no problems posting to this forum, but the forum does occasionally get lost in space.

I went away from IE earlier this year because of the problems it was causing.

I've been surfing with the adblocker on my Google Chrome now for over an hour. What a HUGE difference in speed!!!

Makes a huge difference huh? Some guys gripe about pop up ads and such and for the longest time I never knew what they were talking about. Only after remembering I had ABP on Firefox did I figure out why I didn't see what they were talking about. The only ad I see is a stationary Tirerack ad at the top of the page. EDIT: No I don't...I don't even see that. It's almost like I'm a paying member or something lol!

That's great!

It does make a difference. Besides the speed, I really enjoy not having flashing banners and ads all over every webpage I visit. Definitely a lot less clutter.

Absolutely Steve! Even the Tire Rack ad at the top of the page is gone now too. And if I scroll down to the bottom of the posts, it's clean too. I can make the comparison of what was to what is because it's just so darn noticeable!!

Wow, I just opened CO with IE to see what the page looks like normally. Didn't realize how many ads there were. Even under the member list on the main index, I just have a box that says "Advertisement". Didn't know it was an ad 2/3 the height of the screen!

I am surprised ABP was even compatible with google, cause all the goog does is track and ad!
I have the 'do not track' addon also on FF.

Nevertheless it works like a damn! On the top right next to the star and wrench (chrome) I now have a red stop sign. It shows the adblock is enabled for this site. I can also set different filters on it using the 'easy create filter' option. Best of all this stuff is all freeware....

New puters should come preloaded with this stuff far as I'm concerned.

So how do advertisers justify the expense? Is it because for every handful of users that know about ABP and other such software there are a million more that don't? I wonder what internet brands would do if they knew the ads weren't reaching people on the site? Would they shut it down?

DING DING DING!!

PT Barnum either said, or was quoted as having said, "Nobody ever lost a dollar underestimating the intelligence of the American people."

What Eric said ++++ advertisers write off ads as expenses as a cost of doing business. One hand washes the other. How much advertising do you think is really effective? What's the last ad you saw that really drew your attention? Better yet, what's the last ad you saw that actually prompted you to go out and buy the product??

Internet Brands prolly could give a RA about whether people see the ads or not. They just sell the space on the site and that is revenue, period. And no one in their right mind is going to say "read the ads and prove you did it or we'll shut the site down". It would just re-surface somewhere else with the same issues.

FWIW I never paid attention to the ads that popped up on this site even before I had adblocker. I think most of the average people out there just tune the ads out of their attention span. I don't miss the old slow system.

I know advertising helps pays for the site, but no one, IB nor any other site manager, has the right to stipulate nor can they control who uses adblocker or not on their personal computer.
