It can be done with a hardtop, you just need a bigger towel.

I don't really understand why you can't do that with a hardtop.

I never thought about it before but because when the window is rolled up it seats into the frame that is around the door, which allows you do do that with the door wide open. With a hardtop , you have to do it from the inside of the car and get out the other side.

Ok, now I understand, your right you can't do it with a hardtop with the door open.

Yeah, I get it now too but that leaves me with the question ... why would you want to?

Doesn’t that create a problem for visibility?

Not for driving. Mostly for when parked. We had stopped to eat our take out breakfast and she put it up while we were eating in the car. We got out to go for a walk along the river afterwards and left it in to keep the sun out.

But how do you see out of the passenger rear view mirror, doesn't it give you a huge blind spot?..... Tedd

My car did not have a passenger mirror. I was going to add the sport mirrors but couldn’t bring myself to drill holes in the door. And I have come to realize that my car is pretty special just the way it was when new.
