Tornadoes in Granbury

Well everyhing here is somewhat ok. I'll have to wait for morning to asses damage to my roof and the sons Mustang. Luckily the tornado touched down about a mile from here, so all we got was the baseball sized hail and a lot of rain. Hope the rest of the folks in town faired well.

Man I was thinking of you - could not find your # either!
Glad you missed the twister but that was too close for comfort - was that the mile-wide one?
Hope you have insurance for the roof and car.
I have been here awake waiting for the "big" stuff to hit collin county. Why sleep if it will wake me up in an hour... Looks like it is loosing steam though.
So far my rain gauge looks like a mouse pissed in it - nothing much in my area.
Hope all goes well for you in the morning!

Richardson got hammered in rainfall - 1-2" from what I could see. Hope my mom's new roof did not leak. I assume not since she did not call me in a panic...

Glad you are okay in Granbury. We have had a lots of rain in Rowlett. Looks like Cleburne got the worst.

The storms here were pretty bad and there supposedly was a lot of damage about a mile or so from here. I hear at least 1 neighborhood suffered most of the damage. About 100 injured and 2 fatalities. I think we might have gotten it a little worse than Cleburne. We had a mile wide tornado, baseball to softball sized hail for about 10 minutes and then about 20 mins of mixed hail and a ton of rain.

I'll go out in the morning and see what the damage is. Insurance will cover most of the damage. Most importantly we are all safe and ok.

Glad you are OK; my Dad is fine on the Square but his new office is right out the front gate of PP; he won't know how it faired until Thur.

Thought about you as soon as the local news kept mentioning Granbury. Seems the Pecan Plantation area/neighborhood got hit pretty hard. It's been pouring here. Flooding my garage of course, since I just finished installing new cabinets and work bench this afternoon. Hope all is well out there.

Ventured out this morning, I think I will probably need a new roof and my sons car got hammered pretty good. Other than that we were really lucky! The tornado hit just a few miles from here, they were not so lucky. Looks like one neighborhood was completely destroyed.

Glad y'all are OK! Very bad storm, looking at it on TV for over 4 hours, awaiting its arrivial! We had tons of rain/wind/thunder/lightning, and were ready to hit the basement at a moment's notice! We know others down your way, hope they are OK. One, a commercial pilot, didn't get to land until 3 something AM this morning due to continuing storms around DFW Airport. Whew! Springtime in Texas!

Glad you all made it thru. I can deal with about any type of storm except high winds.

Tornadoes were relatively rare here in the Upper South until the last 20 years or so. Now you almost hate to see May or November coming because of them.

Here in Texas, it's... I hate to say the norm, although a rarity for baseball sized hail here. Whenever a storm is coming we all look towards the weather channels to see how severe they are projected to be. I have a 2 car garage and 3 cars when my son is home from school. Needless to say, the Cutlass and the wifes GT stay in the garage, while the son's Mustang Coupe is left outside. Last night it looked like we were going to be spare'd, however mother nature changed it's mind and hammered us. You just never know! Thanks for all the thoughts and well wishes.

Man, be glad that you DID miss that one - it was an EF4!
Here is some good pictures...
http://www.wfaa.com/news/local/HD-chopper-8-gets-aerial-view-of-damage-in-Granbury-tornado-207736431.html?gallery=y&img=0&c=y

Picture 30 gives a slight humor - the tornado took everything from this homes foundation, except - the kitchen sink...

Again, glad you missed it and my prayers go out to those I do not know who were in the path of destruction...

Yeah, I just found out that we may have lost a couple of local Hotrodders in there. Still waiting to hear, they are part of the 7 missing. Very sad!

We can replace or repair our material things, my heart goes out to the less fortunate in this devastating tragedy.

Again many thanks to everyone for your thoughts.

I thought about you as well when I was looking at the news.. Glad you all are ok!!! I'm also sad about the missing people. We had a lot of hard and heavy rain in Mansfield. A lot of broken trees but nothing too bad.

That was a nasty batch. Made some phonecalls back home to make sure people were ok and so far so good. Reminds me of the '79 Wichita Falls tornado.

Keep your head low and stay safe!

Thanks again guys. Got initial estimates $3100 for sons car and $13000 for the roof.

Tomorrow I'm going to try and get some work done on the Vette for some stress relief.

Yikes - 13k for a roof? Is the decking gone or is your house just very large? Sounds way high. I had mine replaced in 2004 for 3.3k for 2100 sq ft and architectural shingles and ridges.

It's an 1800 sqft house with architectural shingle. I have not had a roof done in 25 years so I don't know.

We had to replace a roof last spring because of hail damage... 1900 sq. ft. home with architectural shingles and the replacement cost was close to $14,000.

Glad to know your family is ok... scary time of the year in the tornado alleys.
