tire prices going up....
Has anyone seen this?

I think this really touches on a larger subject, however. Why isn't this being done across the board? We need massive restructuring of how things are done these days. If we continue to outsource manufacturing, our country is going to continue to get into some serious trouble. We don't make anything anymore. This would solve our continuing unemployment problem which is only going to continue to get worse. It will also keep a huge amount of money in this country, instead of making China and other asian countries wealthier.
In any event, it's a complex issue. But, our country became great based on our ability to work hard and the fact we created things. We've lost the 2nd thing to cheap foreign labor, and the 1st thing seems to be quickly eroding.

The big problem with this is you are in a country that is borrowing money faster than we can print it and then telling the one country buying your debt they can kiss your ***.
This reminds me of a guy borrowing money from the mob and then opening a store competing in his territory and going at the end of the week and ask for more money from the same mob. Sounds like a good way to end up with some broken limbs.
I agree they we do need to reverse a lot of whats gone away and get away from being a consumer nation but we have built ourselves on an island without boats in a alligator filled swap. We have to be very carfull getting off the island.

Up here in the great white north (Ontario Canada) we just got hit with a 5.00 levee on all tires when you buy them that is subject to both federal and provincial tax,in other words we are now paying tax on tax.
Thanks for passing that info along. I knew tires, like most other items we purchase these days, are increasingly made in other places like China, which is really sad. I can't understand why anyone in our government fails to understand how this continues to hurt our current economy and our future as a nation.
I recently bought a set of tires for one of my cars and made sure they came from here.
BTW Richard, I like your sig line, pretty scary that someone like that actually made it into our government structure and we even got to pay his salary!

Nothing new to Canadians,They(the Government) have been doing that to us on Gas since 1977.
