Very well done and the guy is a good musician. Thanks for posting Tedd. I made a post a little over a week ago about my experience of carrying a 92 year old WWII Marine veteran that served in Peleliu and Okinawa and received the Bronze Star and Purple Heart. I think it got moved to yesterdays post before many people saw it. It was quite an experience for me. If you guys have any interest I will look it up and bring it to the top.

It would need very little alteration to be appropriate for the 19th century, no matter who the serviceman was fighting for.
The families of a soldier of the Roman Empire, or the Babylonians, or just about any civilisation you can think of would surely relate to this song as well.
Roger.

Very moving, I urge anyone who has a "battle buddy" going through PTSD/addiction trust your gut feeling when you know something is wrong and get them help.
Godspeed to those still fighting US, UK and Canada Brothers in Arms
