Smoke

I'm not sure how the rest of the world is doing but Northern Ca. is trying to burn up! My house is in no big danger from any of the four fires that are burning around it but a person can't breath or see across the driveway. The air taste like you are sucking on a smoked pine cone and your eyes burn all the time . I'm looking forward to a good rain with NO lighting attached to it. I feel so sorry for those who have lost everything this last two weeks despite the gallant attempts of the fire fighters to save home and property, this has to end sometime soon there is only so much the fire fighters can endure in 100+ heat.. Lost again somewhere in the smoke....Tedd

I wish you luck Tedd, you can move to Michigan, it's finally back to being lush and green. Side effect is the four letter word SNOW

We went to Hot August Nights and encountered some smoke on our way there on Hwy 44 from Old Station to Susanville on August 5th. Then, on our return August 12th, there was tons of smoke, starting around Doyle on Hwy 395 and it really got bad on Hwys 36 & 44 out of Susanville. It stayed that way through Old Station and Hwy 89 until we crossed Hwy 299 and then it cleared up. I can't begin to imagine what it's like there now. When we went through on the 12th, the sun was just a pinhole of light through the smoke. I'm thinking now the sun might not be getting through at all!

Randy, you couldn't make that trip two days ago hwy. 36, 44 and 89 have been closed on and off because the fires have burnt to the road Three different fires.
Smoke isn't as bad today the wind must have changed directions, I can see about a mile across the canyon this morning, yesterday and the day before less than 50 yards.....Tedd

Wow, that's something. I recall a big fire a few years ago just north of Old Station on Hwys 89 and 44 that shut things down for a few days. When we went through there in the 5th and the 12th, it still looks like there is nothing left to burn. I see now that I am wrong!
