Saturday was cars and coffee to day the money pit gets fixed

Cars and coffee was wonderful (about 150 cars) till the sky opened up, and it poured. I never put the top down, so there was less excitement at my area, also no pictures were taken because of the brevity of the show. If I had stopped talking, I might have gotten some pictures, good stuff was there.

Taking the MP to Concourse Elite to get her nose repaired and a repaint on the grill bottom., shouldn't be much for them to do it. I have seen a 33 Chrysler they had repaired that was twisted in a knot, then restored to a concourse winner. Most people didn't even know my car was damaged unless I showed them, still this fix was over two thousand dollars, pictures to follow when it's done... Tedd

Well still weiting for parts to come in, they can't get a new fiberglass nose from BMW (too old of part) but there are aftermarket a viable, quality fit and finish is questionable on the few I have seen. We will see, they say they can make it work. The delay is messing up my time frame for other work to finish up this build. I am enjoying the Miata, but it should have been sold by now, no one wants a rag top when it is raining out. Tedd

Finally, got the Money Pit home, great job on the fiberglass nose and the color match was outstanding. Took the long way home and enjoyed the twisty's in the mountains. Price was a little over $2400 and worth it....Tedd

Finishing up odds and ends on the MP, Had the transmission fluid changed at Transmatic this morning, came to $240 bucks. The BMW shop wanted close to $800 bucks for the same job. Makes me wonder how many times they got into my shorts that I didn't know about. I am a little sore.... Tedd

The transmission on the MP received a fluid change today, came to $240 bucks from Transmatic. If you think that is a lot, the BMW shop wanted $785 for the same job. Tedd

I know it's not BMW, rather, BBW (and before that meant fat girls), but I'll call them Bavarian Battle Wagons.

While I wait for an appointment, the speedo quit working completely( use to be intermittent, now is dead all the time) and the gas gauge is now intermittent. All this is in a new cluster.... The laundry list goes on, and on ..Tedd

Well it's Cars and Coffee day and the Money Pit is stuck in the driveway on about one and a half inches of snow, man that machine is flatlander oriented. I may be able to back it down hill about a hundred yards to get to the plowed main road if I don't hit a snow ball or a plow ridge at the junction.. Tedd

Another MP bad day(mostly because of AAA issues), condensed version. The weather finally turned to winter in a big way(monsoon wise). I was headed for the ranch after The Cars and Coffee to put the Money Pit in the equipment shed when I had a flat about 3 miles from the ranch, It's now about 10 o clock. Called AAA and the dispatcher gave me a 45 to an hour time frame, no problem, it was now coming down in sheets and cold as a witches nother parts. Found out the lug wrench didn't fit my lugs anyway. Took an hour and a half before the AAA guy showed up with a pickup, he took one look at the BMW and said "I have no tools to work on that, ill get you a rollback, it's now 12:30 and the dispatcher said" it will be another hour and a half before anyone will be a viable, but we will get right on it.... YA, YOU BET... Phone went dead, no juice and my charger wouldn't work! At 3:25 I had the Old Man pick me up and had to leave the BMW alongside the road to soak in the rain. About 4:20 AAA called(voice mail) and wanted to know where I was, they were ready to tow my car!

Today AAA was their usual self and got everything done by 11., New tires on by 12, home by 1, no snow, car is wet throughout and will take a hell of a detail to get it back to where it was before the soak, hope the electronics don't go haywire....Tedd

They called today (European motor Works) and asked questions about the speedometer and how it acted when it quit, I told them sometimes when you looked down it was working sometimes not so much, no rime or reason. Then I asked how it was going on the rest of the fixes. " Been working every day was the reply" Gees there went the new Miata, these guys get about one hundred twenty-five an hour, I'll be broke before it gets done....Tedd

Problems, worried, Issues with walking, I somehow twisted my right knee, the one that has been operated on twice already, Cain barley gets me around, trying hard not to not go to my walker. No place for it in a roadster, I can't. Support my weight this morning, maybe put the walker on the luggage rack on the back of the Miata I'll see today as I need to go to town for business. Didn't need this at this time of my life... Tedd

I'm doing OK. Leg is better, not good but better, brace is on its way. No snow, but we do need it. I'm tired already of winter and being without the BMW and a long drive now and again, by the way it's still in the shop, but I don't think anyone is working on it, I'll check on it if I get a chance today. Life has been a tad difficult, but doable.

Ruby passed on the12th, better place now she is in, relief that it is over. Now I'm just dealing with the paper work, Why don't people organize their affairs before they pass instead of leaving it to the last man standing... Tedd

Update, didn't mean for this to become a saga, BMW is still in the shop, the consensus from an outside mechanic hired just to work on my Money Pit is the new cluster is defective and on warranty.. Yahoo... Not out of my money pit pocket. I still have to wait for the slow boat from Bavaria to get a new one, but I still have the Miata to play with. There is something to be said about reliability.Tedd
