Road trip, the plan is see the Kinetic Energy Races
Our plan is to load up the Mistress and head for the north coast of California for the Humboldt world famous Kinetic Energy Sculpture Race. If you haven't been to this event you gotta put it on your bucket list It's a flash back to the sixties that you can tell your kids about. The purpose of the race is to build a vehicle that will cover 35 miles of obstacles including water mud sand and pavement using only human generated power. All changes to your craft must be on the craft from start to finish. You cant imagine the outrageous contraptions these people construct to compete in this event, half rocket science the other half medieval witchcraft. Here is a link that will give you a taste of what it is about.... The most fun I have had with my clothes on...... This will be my first time at Eureka but we did one in Klamath Falls a couple years ago and it was a absolute riot. The ingenuity some people have is amazing. I'll see if I have any pictures from that trip...Tedd

On our way
Loading the 55 tonight and will be on the road at daybreak, should take about 5 hours to Eureka if all works as planed. This is a test run for out extended trip in the fall that will be some where around nine days on the road.
If I can I'll post a few pictures if I can get WYFI at our motels.....Tedd

Trip was a blast, covered over 550 miles with no problems, used no measurable amount of oil, heater worked great(just replaced the Ranco valve)and so did the wipers, we were top down for 400 of the 550 miles.
We took scenic old HWY 36 home from the coast it's a twisty 35-40 mile an hour mountain road but we had the time and anything beats I-5 interstate for pleasure.
here are a few pictures that caught my eye, the people who design these contraptions though crazy in appearance are true engineers....Or just crazy...Tedd

It's amazing what you can get away with if you have a red convertible They let us park in the camping area. We were there early and got to see the contraptions as they came in from the sand event, many tired drivers and broken parts to repair for the next day.
The floater in the blue was so drunk he couldn't keep it upright, his beers and baggie of pot kept floating off with the out going tide. And of course he was part of the safety team.
