I am really, really, going to miss John Madden in the game of football, and the game of life. What a brilliant mind, great communicator, and kind person he was! His was a life well lived, for all of us! RIP John.

He was one of the greatest. I will always remember his six legged turkey he had on Thanksgiving when they did the Cowboy game. He probably did more for the NFL than anybody. RIP John Madden.

Being from Denver it was hard to like John Madden as the faiders coach. I had more respect for him as he stepped away from being their coach. I worked in the hotel world in the eighties. I met plenty of famous people etc. John Madden was one of them. Always very nice. Very personable. Rest in peace John.

If you were a person who did not really understand football (as I once was) all you had to do was watch a few games games with John Madden in the booth and you would begin to understand the game, he had a knack for making the game easy to understand in a everyman kind of way
he injected humor and wit and was a master of the Telestrator . He was the only broadcaster to work for all four major networks and he brought something special to each one. A Super Bowl winning coach and by all accounts he was a fine human being. R.I.P. John

He was. Dave (Casper - #87) & I have been friends 61 yrs. We attended grade school & H.S. together (sleep-overs at each others houses). Dave always spoke very highly of John, It is my understanding from Dave, John knew many people yet had a very small select group of friends - I know David was one of them. I spoke w/ Dave Monday morning before he headed out to assist John's family for the week. I spent the day Monday watching old ACE Hardware store commercials featuring John.
Our grade school graduation picture (1966) which Dave never had never received until he saw me send it to another friend at which time he insisted I send him one.
NOTE: We're the same height (5'11"). Dave grew an additional 5" our first two years of H.S. - who the hell does that $HIT?
