"Do you come from a land down under?
Where women glow and men plunder?
Can't you hear, can't you hear the thunder?
You better run, you better take cover."

I never thought in a million years I would say this but I wish we had that female that ran for president in office right now, couldn't possibly be any worse.
For an old broad she ain't a bad looking Sheila mate.
Yours.. not ours.

Ok, I'm not sure if you're bragging or complaining Most of the time my wife has that look on her face it usually means there's gonna be some changes and decision making that I don't need to be there for. Better check her website and find out her reactions for what she wants to conserve the most: Queen and Country, Environment, and most important: Collector Cars!

"Weakminded that one is I fear - soon swayed her opponents will be to the dark side" "Never underestimate the power of the Force"

On the bright side, it looks like she's been around long enough to know what an Oldsmobile is. Sway her to our side my son.....

Allan: First time I've ever read a post and stood to attention with my hand on my heart. Should be the national anthem......and she ain't good looking.

We have a woman Prime Minister who was born in Wales, a woman State Premier who was born in the USA, and a woman Governor General from Queensland (the only good thing to come out of Queensland was the highway back to New South Wales).
For the last 200 years Oz has been a tough place built on a proud convict heritage. Now we're the powder-puff capital of the world with leaders who weren't even born here.

Hopefully she'll go alright as a leader. God knows the bloke she's replacing was useless. (another Queenslander). Should be a Federal election in September or maybe earlier so her stay might be brief.

Yes, From the Seattle, Washington area. Not in Seattle but just far enough away !

These dogs usually have a screw lose but old Smokey is a real friendly one ( most of the time ). He is a true heeler though, he tends to do a lot of poking with his nose and herds you all over the place, like the eternal shadow. I love him though....he's the most loyal and protective dog you could ever have.

And speaking of female politics, we got ourselves a female sheriff ! I love this site, I'm learning all about far away places. My wife and I have talked about going to Australia. I read an article about the Coastwatchers during WWII. Amazing story that's not talked about much. I also purchased a timing chain ( high quality ) for my Toro that was made in Australia. Can't remember the brand but it was the nicest I've seen !

Nice to talk to so many people !

Don't just talk about it...come on down!!
I saw a show once about Blue Cattle Dogs making a name for themselves in the States. They are smart, tough, hard working and make great watch dogs...but you'll know all that. They'll also be your best mate. Friend of mine in town had to say goodbye to his constant companion Molly a few weeks ago. Everyone knew Molly. She was the only dog allowed in the pub. Just laid under a table by the front door until Greg was ready to leave and Molly would guide him home.
Is there a local breeder out your way?

I'm multi-tasking. Got both computers and two phones going.
I'm very impressed that you guys know that song. There's even a verse there about how I met my wife:
"I met a strange lady, she made me nervous,
She took me in and made me breakfast"

You'll no doubt be equally impressed that given the right conditions I can usually sit down and list every State in the USA.

Interesting thing you found there Jesse. I had heard about that suit earlier and personally don't see any similarity beyond a very distant one.

Thanks people for maintaining a modest level of decorum about politics. Considering I just made a statement about us not allowing discussions about politics or religion in a different post I have to say something here. Shame on you Col. for mentioning it.

Plese remove your hats and all rise for Men at Work.

"Tie Me Kangaroo Down Sport" is one of my favorite songs of any kind, great at the bar or to sing to youself alone out on the lake fishing along with "Henry the Eighth" by Herman's Hermits. You know that Led Zepplin's Jimmy Page did the studio guitar work on that song??
I didn't say she was good looking Col, just not bad compared to ours, then again that's no large feat?
ZZ Top should do a song about our former first,
"She's got cankles, and she knows how to use them"

Wasn't that about a guy who was lost in the outback with no women around...? In Boy Scouts we would sing :"Kukabera sits in the old gum tree..."

Now to move on to religion. The province of Quebec just passed a law that if immigrants want to move there from overseas (rather than from within Canada) they have to sign a statement that says:

1. I understand that men and women are equal under the law
2. Religion is a personal choice and does not supercede the laws of the province or the country
3. If you are going to live here, it is in your best interest to learn French

If they don't sign, they can move somewhere else. If they sign and violate it, (other than #3) they can be deported.

An amendment also states that anyone with face coverings will not be allowed to get a drivers licence unless they remove the covering for a photo. And they will be expected to remove the covering if stopped by a police officer to prove who they are if they are wearing it while driving. If they are, they will most likely be stopped to make sure they can actually see while driving.

A woman who came from Egypt and recently settled in Montreal was taking French classes and demanded that all men turn around when it was her turn to speak in front of the class. The men were asked by the instructor to please turn around. The instructor asked her if she could lift the veil, partially so he could see how her lips formed the words. He was showing the class how the words are said by exaggerating with his mouth how the words would be formed. She refused. As the class progressed she demanded that the men leave, to which the instructor refused. He asked her to leave the class to which she filed a human rights violation.

Quebec then stated if a persons face is covered, they cannot receive service for government related requests.

Then some guys from Iran and Saudi Arabia (who I suppose are Canadian's now) asked the Ontario and Quebec governments to allow Shiria Law for Muslim families. Both governments told them to go pound sand...so to speak. The main people protesting this? The Muslim community. They said they left countries where Shiria law was used and are glad to be free of it.

Isn't Canadian life interesting...

I'm just glad we're finally taking a stand. Right now Canada is accepting more immigrants than anywhere in the world. I think we've been too tolerant on some things. I don't mind if people want to come here and make a better life for themselves, or if they want to be free to make chioces without fear of persecution or arrest. But it pisses me off when some come here and want me to change my way of life because it offends their views or culture .........................................go back then .......
....and I'm more liberal than conservative (don't tell anyone)................
ok, rant off.

Yup and a darn good one too! I could start a fire with just 2 sticks as long as both of em were matches! I wouldn't be able to prove beyond a shadow of doubt that I could find my way home in the dark (or the light for that matter). Learned that a compass doesn't work worth crap if you carry it in the same pouch you carried your folding scout pocket knife, whistle and magnet. I soon realized that moss would grow ALL the way around the trunk of a tree and the only way to find true north was to have someone point you in the right direction. (my car has a map compass that tells me that stuff now). We learned that "OFF" bug spray made a great fire show if you sprayed it into the bonfire. We also had a dumbass kid in our troop who threw his whole can into the fire to see what would happen. The words "Run like the wind Simba" still haunt me to this day.

The lyrics to Barnacle Bill? You've never heard that one? We used to sing it all the time on road trips. It wouldn't be appropriate to post the lyrics on this site but you can go to this link and have a read (if you want to). Some of the content may offend women, men, and virgins in general. Ohhhhh OK, I don't need to have my virginity rediculed . Must be something like The Rodeo Song, can't print it here. Yeah, Scouts...I remember jabbing the grass with a weed extractor. You know, you could stand it on pavement and the two ends would touch the ground while you could slip a finger through. I was poking it into the grass backand forth while this other kid was sticking his foot underneath and pulling it back just as I was coming back down... you know where I'm going with this dont you. Five times he beat the weeder. Unfortunately, I poked the ground 6 times.........."WE'VE GOT A BLEEDER!" Lucky the grass wasn't too high. Got a badge for first aid.

Remember Canada had a female Prime Minister. She lasted 132 days!!
"Avril Phaedra Douglas "Kim" Campbell, PC, CC, QC (born March 10, 1947) is a Canadian politician who was the 19th Prime Minister of Canada, serving from June 25, 1993, to November 4, 1993 (132 days)."

Yeah, she wasn't even voted in. The PM retired and she was deputy PM, so she automatically took his place. Kinda like US President Gerald Ford.

Which is exactly how our new X chromosone Prime Minister got in. Her party kicked the old one out because it was obvious he was going to lose the next general election as she was Deputy. Two years ago the guy they kicked out had the highest public popularity rating of any Prime Minister in our history. He even led us through the GFC without a recession but now he's down as the first Labour Prime Minister to be kicked out of office in his first term.

Did you guys used to get "Charlie Drake The Worker" TV show over there?
I was only a kid when it was on and I loved it. "Some Mothers Do 'Ave 'Em" was a later take-off.

Our current PM likes to say how well Canada and Canadian banks did in during the GFC. Our banks are rated most stable in the world and refused a $28 CAD billion offer by the Feds for a bailout, and he acts like he did it himself. In the mid-1990's the government of the day elimated the deficit and started paying billions on our debt. We were the only G7 country not running a deficit and paying down the debt. The banks were not allowed to merge with the US banks as they wanted and stayed under Canadian regulations. Lots complained. But they are sure happy now.

It's the samething with offshore drilling. Canadian regulations require companies that want to drill in Canadian waters, to drill two wells. This makes it more expensive than drilling in the US, so international companies go there to drill first. Others say we are loosing money because of those restrictions. The current gov't was considering removing those restrictions put in place by a past Liberal gov't until the Gulf spill.

The second well is a relief well, like the one they are drilling now to try and stop the spill. In Canada a company has to drill a second at the same time as the main one. This is more expensive, but If something like what happened in the Gulf happened here, the well could be plugged or diverted in a matter of hours.

Now we have a deficit again that's double what is was supposed to be. But it's all the GFC's fault. A few years ago they played with the idea of going back to private healthcare, albeit slowly. They lost the election, and never mentioned it again. When they finally won, the public didn't give them a majority government, so there's nothing they can do that would be so radical. He wonders why he can't achieve a majority government.

During the primaries the Good Old Boys tried to smear her but that got her a whopping 62% win.
