The Prettiest One needs a new blankie!

Ok guys - this time I'm on a mission for a new car cover! I would like to have one that's lined or soft inside, but still lets moisture get out, if they make such a thing.

The one I have now is old, and is leaving white powdery stuff on her when I take it off. It's a Budge, and it's thin and blue rubbery/plastic material. I'd like to have one that provides a little padding in case someone has nerve enough to bump into her... I pity the fool...

I don't want to spend a fortune - not that she's not worth it, but I don't have a fortune to spend! I do have Mercedes taste, but only a working girl's budget!

So if you guys could give me your suggestions, or what you have tried and liked, we'd appreciate it! Hopefully this won't be as confusing as oil is! Thanks guys! We'd be lost without you!

That oil thing sure took on a life of it's own from a simple question.
Your car is fine.

I've been through a bunch of different type covers over the years and found the best IMO to be the Covercraft Dustop type for inside storage. It breathes and is soft inside, will not scratch paint.
I've had mine for about 7-8 years on the GTO and the car always looks exactly like it did before I put it on, what more could you want?

You saw my paint at the show Sandy, looks good for being 17 years old, and I won a trophy.

The Dustop has lasted longer than any other one I've ever had and still looks new.
They are fairly heavy material but not bulky and stiff like some, sort of the weight of soft denim with a soft flannel feel on the inside.
I had another type that deteriorated and the material broke down and left the same powdery residue, dust went through it too. It was a pain and the thing was only a few years old, and it wasn't cheap from what I can recall.
The Dustop is around 250 bucks but not that bad considering the quality and durability, does the job.

You can search around, a lot of places carry them and they are custom fit. They're probably all drop-shipped from Covercraft after they make them though.

Thanks for the idea Sandy, I know what to get that brat Little Miss Vista for X-mas now.
If you see her please don't mention it.

Sandy,

I've got three or four and never use them. I like seeing my cars and what's going on. When I store them I leave the hood up and put on a battery tender. So I can walk by and see if anything strange is going on. Maybe it's because I'm lazy and come from a long line of white trash. But if I had a cover on a car I wouldn't be taking it off to look as often as I should.

That is how Lady rests... I also like to admire her each time I visit the garage. Of course if you have other people going out there, some protection from accidental scratches could be beneficial.

Be sure to keep animals out of there, too. I once went into my garage and saw a big fluffy cat laying on Lady's ragtop... The door stays down more often now and the cat did not lose any lives...

I think http://www.calcarcover.com/ offered some good covers. You have to call them though, as their site does not list the older cars...
Early this year I bought the "top-of-the-line" cover from wally's (a budge) for my old ford which resides outside; I will see how long it lasts. It reminds me of those itchy, fibery, disposible hospital gowns and shorts... The last cover was an all nylon one from wally's and it lasted for a good 10 years or so!

"and I won a trophy."

Surely that was your evil twin Redgoat saying that, cause the Bluevista we've all come to know and love would NEVER say anything like that to me!!! LOL! Don't make me get out my tire iron... or have to have a posse come lookin for you! Thanks for the input - much easier than oil!! I'm sure Miss Vista would like a new blankie!! My lips are sealed...

I was looking around some websites and I read about that Dustop cover and I like the way it sounds. I'll do more searching and reading today.
I may be putting her out in the other garage tonight - looking at the weather forecast, they're talking temps in the 30 degree range at night next week, and snow mixing with rain!! God, I hate winter and snow! I hope we have some kind of Indian Summer coming up cause I'm not ready for snow!! But I have to get her put away cause the yard will get crappy. Once I do that, we'll get nice weather for sure and I'll get pizzed off!!!

Jamesbo, you have any nice soft ones you want to sell?? LOL! I do check on her all through the winter, and uncover her and start her and let her run. Wish I could leave her uncovered, but sometimes Larry and his home boy next door get to havin a "few beers" out there, and I would hate to have to kill someone that touched my car!!!!! Thanks guys, I appreciate your help!

As you can tell, I'm working on my signature pics... I don't like this one my daughter did last night, so I will probably have her change it some tonight! The hat is too small!

Well there are covers out there that should at least fit your car. The only one I was able to find for my car was for an SUV so it is loose in the middle and just barely fits end to end. hard to find one that will cover a convertible that is 19 and 1/2 feet long. luckily I have a heated garage to keep it in so a cover is not a big deal.

I forgot the namebrand of the one I have but I bought it three years ago at least.I got it from ebay it is a four layer cover and keeps water and dust off the car.I can vouch for it as I had to get in my car last summer and it was raining hard eirlier.I rolled the cover back enough to get in and the car was nice and dry.I will take a pic of it on the car later when I get a chance and post it.I also recently found five layer ones on the market.
