One of the reasons ebay drives me nuts.

I search "Oldsmobile Cutlass 442"

One of the returned hits:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Vintage-Mopa...p2056016.l4276

WTF? They say it fits a Camaro, a Mustang, Firebird, Hummer, Cutlass, Chevy Bel Air, C-10 Pickup... I hate having to sift through **** like this.

Sorry, just had to vent to someone, and the dog don't care.

Ok- that was pretty funny. But to weed out crap like like that, I've been doing this. As an example lets say your looking for 1952 Oldsmobile parts (or whatever year your looking for). Your going to come up with a ton of junk that is irrelevant to 1952 Oldsmobiles. Instead, type in 1952Oldsmobile ( no space between 1952 and Oldsmobile) now it will show auctions that are geared more to what your looking for. Try it

are you freaking kidding me?
how did you find that out?

I *had* nice tailored searches that caught various misspellings and -'d out the crap I didn't want to see, and they worked GREAT... then ePay disallowed the * wildcard search.

BULLSHED

How you supposed to find carbs ending in '825x' now ["x" is any digit]

Here's what I do to focus on what I'm looking for.

Ebay motors search (Just did this 5 minutes ago)

Type in 1966 442 You get 19,535 results.

If you type in 1966 442 -(ford) You get 837 results.

Heck, you cannot even use the "-" to accurately filter out crap you don't want. It only filters out half you do not want, and the other half it keeps.
I agree on the anger of disallowing the * - it just worked too well..............

thanks, that actually works pretty good. I too have been very frustrated with eBay lately and miss the good old days when you could search more specifically. I used to put cut* and get every spelling of cutlass you could imagine. I got some great deals on misspelled listings. Can't do that anymore. Lately I've been using quotations like "cutlass" but your way works good too.
