This one is for the birds...and Rob
Yes... Yes I have!!! I hate winter with a passion!!!! It started snowing again this morning around 8:15, but nothing like yesterday! It was crappy driving again early. the snow has tapered off to just a few flakes right now. Thank ya Jesus!!!!
More Birds
Sandy, nice bird pictures! Some of the goldfinches here are still yellow. I bought a new foot long sock this year and fill it full of thistle seed. Those little birds will stack up 15 or more on it while others hang out on the walnut tree waiting for a spot to open up
It only takes 2 or 3 days for them to clean it out.
The most exotic bird we get here is the Orioles (Sp?). The first time I looked out at the hummingbird feeder to see the large bright yellow bird drinking from it I didn't know what to think! I understand on the West Coast this is as far north as they come. So I just have to make more sugar water when they're around!
We have hummingbirds that stay all year here. Even with the winter temps getting into the single digits on rare occassions. When I lived North of here near Mt. Jefferson I used to put out three feeders when they were migrating. It seems like I would have one or two dozen of the little birds whizzing around and fussing with each other in my backyard for a few weeks.
Birdseed is cheap, and it's fun to see what comes by at different times of the year. John

My daughter had a bald eagle fly in front of her car on I-90 on Christmas eve.
She didn't hit it.
Those are some serious icicles Sandy, need to look into doing something about your venting and/or insulation, yep...yep...yep.

I have Redgoat take pics of me.

Jamesbo... I took the pictures of the big camera with my little camera, then I took the memory card out of the little camera and put it in the big camera and took a picture of the little camera with the big camera! Clear as mud now????

Took lots of pics of hummers this summer , and now that we have snow on the ground I get lots of other birds at the feeders. My camera shoots at 10 megapixel which I can't post so gotta remember to adjust it before hand. I had a 3 megapixel one that I used a lot but ended up giving it to my girlfriend once I got the Fuji. We have tons of woodpekers around here but no problems with them poking holes in my wood siding. I went with cedar siding when I built the house , it cost about $600.00 more than vinyl siding which I did not want. cedar keeps out the bugs as long as you apply double boiled linseed oil about every 5 years. The woods behind the house are full of birds and all kinds of critters including black bear, coyotes, fox, bobcat and I thought I saw a wolf last summer.Plenty of rabbit and deer for food and we have wild apple trees galor so the bears hang around cause they can't resist apples.
Hi Wolfie... Where ya been?? I wish you could put some pictures on here so I could see them!! As you can tell, I like bird pictures! LOL!! I would like to see your animal pics too! The most exciting animal we've had in the yard is a fox. He is very beautiful - he has a big red tail and is about the size of a dog. He comes around in the spring and summer. The only pictures I was able to take of him are blurry.
It's always "there he is - let me grab the camera" and he keeps moving, so the pics are out of focus. See if you can post some pics!
Well, just looked up the big camera and the first thing that comes up is that it had a recall on it due to faulty CCDs. http://www.dcresource.com/news/newsitem.php?id=3175
Of course yours is making very good pictures, so right now you shouldn't worry.
Should the image start looking distorted or goes black, then that is the problem. Of course it is too old not for Sony to care, as they deleted the info from their website...
In fact I am impressed of the image quality from a 9 year old digital camera design. This must have cost a small mint when new - the specs were very good for its day.
With only a 5x optical zoom, you must have cropped into the birds, about like I did with the eagle below. He was seen at the Rogue River in Oregon. It is hard to believe he was in a tree 75-100' up & away! This was the power of my 12X zoom but I still want the additional zoom lens to get even more!
The otter was about 60 feet away and the rabbit, about 6 feet. The rabbits would eat from your hands and would do tricks for apple cores...
Coons were abundant in the northwest...
$4000 a year for propane?? HC, OMG......... I guess I should not complain about a $50 a month natural gas bill in the winter...

Mornin' Wolfie! We haven't been above freezing for a while now. We might make it to around 32 - 33 degrees starting next Wednesday they said on the news this morning. We're expecting another 3-4 inches of snow to start around lunch time today,- Arctic Blast - and another "lake effect" snow of 4-6" tonight is possible. God I hate this crap!!!Last night they were talking about the humidity... it just makes everything have that damp feeling that goes right to the bones!
I got a Snuggie for Christmas!! It keeps me nice and warm when I'm sitting on the couch and reading or looking on here! LOL! I love it!!!

We have that "misty" kind of drizzle coming down now... we had it yesterday too. All foggy looking outside... I'm really tired of Gray!!!! If I don't see the sun soon, I'm gonna go postal!!!!
There's a guy in a medium size Bobcat tractor thing out here clearing the huge mounds of snow out of the parking lot at work right now! He better be watchin my little Olds... I'd hate to have to open a can of Whoop A$$ on him.
You should be gettin those young boys of yours to carry that dryer! You better take it easy. I'm sure your girlfriend will understand if you can't come through on your promise right now. Better late than never!
Well you have a good day, and take it easy on yourself!!

I love your pictures!!! I don't know what you mean by "cropped" - (I'm technologically challenged with cameras too) - I just point and hit the zoom button! LOL!! I like taking pictures too. The little hummers are the hardest to get because they are usually moving.
I love that eagle! He is so beautiful!! We have a lot of coons around here. They come in our breezeway and eat the cat food! Makes me mad when I forget to put the cat's dish in the garage at night!

I don't use my big camera very much. It stays in the case in the closet. It should last me a long time!!!
Yea... be thankful for your little gas bill! Last year was the most we spent, and we kept the house at 70. We had an early winter, though. I hate to come home and see the ticket sticking out of the door from Amerigas! That means in about 4 days we're gonna get a bill!
If we don't lock in in the summer when they send the form out, they can charge us whatever they feel like. It costs $100.00 to lock in. Ya can't win!

Jamesbo... this is a Snuggie! Like a big soft blanket with sleeves... open in the back. They are a fast seller! I had it on my Christmas list... Larry and Nicole went to 4 different places trying to find one for me, but all were sold out. I saw 6 at Wal-Mart last week, and Larry got me one - a late Christmas present! I'm a freeze baby! I usually cover up with a little throw that I keep on the couch, but the snuggie is so nice cause it has sleeves, so it's easy to read, or be on my laptop or get up and walk around, cause the hands are free! The only problem is they are very long!!! I have to hold mine up if I get up and walk out to the kitchen or I trip on it! LOL!!! Remember, I'm shorter than a bumper! LOL!!

They make them for kids and the dog too! LOL Sorry, no pics of me in mine!!!
I think it is like a small blanket with holes in it for your head and arms. I heard they are warm and I might need one for this COLD snap we just got!
Now i do have an electric heated throw (small blanket) i will use when curled up on the couch. I usually keep my house at 65. I will prolly keep it even cooler now so the humidity does not drop too much. If I add any humidity when outside temps are below freezing, the window sills get flooded out... Houses here are not really built well for such extreme cold (13*F).

About time somebody else took the heat.
"Get up and Snugglie"....then fall on your face.
It's just like dressing up in big girl clothes.

They should make them with feet and a flap in the back.
Does your Snugglie have bunny ears and a tail Sandy?
Need pics...please?
That scurrilous Redgoat wants a tiger stripe Snugglie made out of a real white tiger, wants to leave the head on too like that medicine man dude in the Daktari movie.
He keeps saying that Siegfried and Roy should sell the one they have that drags you around by the head cheap.

Redgoat ain't right!!! LOL!!! No, my Snugglie doesn't have bunny ears and a tail!! I do have a cat ear headband though! I'll have to think about a pic!
My Snugglie is blue. I've been sittin here about an hour with it on... it's soooooo comfy and warm! It's about 7 foot long though! I don't get up and move much... I don't want to fall on my face!I may be wrapping the Col. in it and giving him a push, if he keeps it up.

I think he's Allan R in disguise!! LOL!

You are funny Jamesbo!!!! Stilts might work, but then I'd have farther to fall when I trip! LOL!!! Maybe I'll go with the helmet - just put it on when I get up!! The length is nice when sitting down cause it covers the feet real good! Of course I have slippers on too, so my feet stay nice and toasty!!!

More Snow....
Well we got about another 6 inches of snow last night.... blowing and drifting. I took some pics this morning. I'm about tired of this!

With that much wet snow roofs collapsing are what you have to worry about, always hear about heart attacks from shoveling the stuff.
I ride the tractor and the girls shovel, they're built better for it with their lower center of gravity anyway.

My seal-like vertically and girth challenged dog slipped then slid down the snow covered deck steps on her belly, she didn't have to use energy and walk so she liked it.

I just got done blowing about 16 inches of drifted *#%@^* snow out of the drive with my mighty tractor.
The thing is as old as my car and it's just keeps on going, just like the Vista.
It takes a little maintenance but at least you can do it and they were both made to be able to by less than rocket scientists.

I just got the nicest new throttle control from Simplicity for the tractor. It's a repo but looks NOS, cool old style **** and lettering, made in the USA.
It was 75 bucks but I'll pay for quality American made, too bad the car reproduction parts guys can't figure that out.
Hey Sandy, give that bird my address.
He can come to my house and get that lousy noisy rooster a few doors down. The chickens got loose and wandered over this way and the guy must have fifty of the things. I thought he had cars in that new garage he built.
The demon rooster was standing on the picnic table over there watching them and making all kinds of noise, I missed my chance.

Do you eat roosters? Or do they leave a "fowl" taste in your mouth?
