I am an Olds fan first, so when I had this included in a barter deal I was reluctant since I know very little about Mustangs....I thought I would turn to you guys....it was built June 6 1964 and am told it is a 1964.5 ...whatever that means....I take it this car is important in the Mustang world...just not too sure what to do with it...has a 6 banger in it

 

64.5 was when the Mustang was first introduced. Most of them had six cylinder engines, similar to the first year Corvettes (minus the multi carb setup). From what I know, they are very desirable cars in the Mustang world. A coworker has a rusty 64.5 vert with a 260 V-8 in his back yard which is how I even know these exist.

 

Actually, more V-8s were built in 1964 than sixes.

Lots of running changes into the 1965 model year, which is why they are referred to as 1964-1/2. Post your data plate and let's see what it says about the car.

 

That's a nice looking car, Ted. Can't beat dark blue with white trim. I actually wouldn't mind a first gen Mustang but around here I'm priced out.
