Ah, quiet evening. Between making excuses to Jamesbo about why I wasn't smart enough to close on that house, I changed oil in the dogmobile and checked torque on the rear spring bolts, and also cut some scrap wood into firewood. Did a little sweeping, moving things around in the garage, made a huge mess with the old oil. Turned out to be a beautiful day with sunshine and it wasn't too cold.
Chris prayers to the family that the new one will be healthy and happy.
Gonna put on some Starsky and Hutch I think. I'd like to watch this one movie I have but a few minutes into it the screen skips and then the whole disc just stops. Maybe I can polish it or something.
Really nice day here today, sunny and a high of 64.
It was sunny and 20 degrees warmer here. Bleh, too dang hot for this early in the year. I had to wait until almost sunset to mow the grass and clean up the debris from the 40+ MPH wind from this high pressure system that came in a few days ago. Fortunately it's supposed to drop down to 70 later in the week.

Kenneth - You're right, that's way too warm, even for your neck of the woods. Hope the temp goes down like you're expecting and stays there for you.
Mike, you really don't have to deal with that agent at all. In fact we just sold 2 places and bought one- all 3 transactions without a agent. It will involve some work on your part, maybe you can get the owners name thru the tax roles and call them directly. Then you can see what they may want to do. Unless Georgia is completely different than Michigan on real estate transactions..... A added benefit is you wont pay the agents commision and if you deal directly with the seller, he wont have to pay a sellers agent. Might be about 6-7%! Not that much different than buying/selling cars, (well actually it is much more difficult- but doable).Go for it! Got nuthin to lose!
Good morning guys,
Cool here this morning for how warm it was yesterday, it's 32 at 0700. We're looking at sunshine and 67 today. How fast it warms up will influence my thinking on if or when I want to go out and start crawling around on the garage floor again.
No other big plans for today. Hope everyone has a great day!
Sun was up bright and early this morning, and so was Tiger. Had a nice visit at the Awful house this morning.
Thanks Jamesbo. I'm gonna wait this one out, I'll get with my agent this afternoon and see what she's heard. I do have a question. Is it normal for closing to go into 3 months? There's this place I like that I couldn't afford(but tried very hard) that went under contract over 80 days ago. Does this mean they are having trouble? Does it mean the place is long gone and the agent never took the "pending" sign off the listing? Do things just stretch out for awhile sometimes?
Greg I'd love to do that, but I'm not versed in Real Estate things. I'd probably cost myself more than I'd save. I wish Jamesbo could be my Realtor. That would be a long trip from up norte to LaGrange to show me something.
No real plans today, just Sunday stuff, Walmart and laundry. My washing machine I think is going tango uniform. The lower pump is very loud and yesterday sounded like it was struggling more than usual. I went down to look at it just as it threw two codes. I have no idea what they meant, so I just started pushing buttons. Finally got it to start up again, it threw the codes another time and when it finished I could have sworn I smelled something burning. I was hoping to get out of this house before I needed a new machine, but doesn't look like that will happen. I used to let the laundry go while I was out, but not anymore. Never the dryer. I need one of those, too. Sheesh.
Okay off to it. Have a great Sunday everyone. Hope it warms up some.
No Jamesbo I didn't know that. Pretty cool. And another piece of the Jamesbo puzzle comes together. How did you end up in the big city? I looked it up, it's only a three hour trip from your lake to LaGrange. Not far at all. Maybe I could find something in Opelika you could show me.
Okay Walmart. I'm tempted to get the full series of MASH. It's only 72 bucks. I looked it up on Amazon and it's less than 10 cheeper, and that would be eaten up by shipping. I could watch MASH all day.
Mike, I was still swimming around when my parents moved to the big city.
Kinda funny people that grew up in little towns always move to the city and people from the city always move to little towns
I guess the "Grass is greener"
I used to have alot of aunts uncles and cousin in LaGrange, Now I have exactly 1 second cousin The rest of them are still there just not vertical
Wow two hours at Walmart? Gotta be a new record I didn't want to beat. The MASH set was more than the rest of the groceries. I don't care, I've wanted that for years and I now I will never leave the house.
Heard from my agent as I was walking in. The seller isn't selling now, she's going to keep the place and live there. She had told me when I met her at Thanksgiving she was on the fence about moving back in, but had decided to stay where she was. Well, now she'll have a brand new house so it doesn't surprise me. I hope she employs better maintenance workers this time around.
Beautiful out. Gonna look around the yard and play with Tiger. I'll have my dinner early so I can start watching MASH. Someone call me at midnight and tell me to go to bed.

For some reason this reminds me of the people who are buried in the runway at Savannah airport. Actually, they paved the runway over them. You can see the headstones(flush) from the airplane.
Well, first thing I did after it warmed up a bit outside was go out to survey my work from yesterday. Wouldn't ya know, one of the 3 drain plugs on the Yamaha was leaking slightly, and it was the one I said was a bitch to get a wrench on securely. I had put new crush washers on each plug and it shouldn't have leaked if I had it tight. Anyway, I tried getting to it from a different angle and was able to tighten it a little more and so far it looks like it's holding.
Before discovering the leak I had intended to start in on some of the 442 maintenance, but after I was done I just wasn't feeling like messing with the car. Went in and got cleaned up a bit and went outside to play with the dogs in the pretty weather. It was the right choice, I think we all enjoyed ourselves!
Hope everyone had a great day!

I'm almost surprised to say I was in inspection today. Oddly enough the bad guy didn't say a word to me this morning, but the lead came and said, with the bad guy at his heals, can I get you to do inspection this week? I said sure what's John gonna do? Oh I don't want him to be there 3 weeks in a row. I said no one was worried when I was there 3 weeks in a row. Crickets. Eh, left at 1.
Beautiful out. A bit chilly. Not sure what I want to do. I want to go do something outside, but I need to do laundry. The washing machine is going to need constant babysitting now. This is going to be a pain. Tiger doesn't seem to be feeling well so I think I'll do laundry and hang out with Tiger.
Good evening guys,
Really nice again today, sunny and 70.
Wife went shopping with a neighbor friend late morning thru early afternoon so I was on doggy duty while she was out. Still managed to get the oil/filter changed, a complete front end lube job, and a new air filter on the 442. The new gas line filter will have to wait for another day, but thats ok since I don't need to have the car on jack stands to get to the line where it will go.
I feel like I escaped work this morning. Worked hard and pumped out 105 wheels by 1030. My lead wasn't there. The bad lead comes around and tells everyone to take an hour lunch. When we finish up with the last wheel the bad lead tells us there's two A220 mains that need to be inspected and built up. I immediately saw through his thinly veiled plan. They wouldn't be broken down and washed until after lunch, leaving me and the other guy to hang and not go home early. I was fairly peeved. So I ate my lunch and was looking a couple things up on the internet and the break down guys, who apparently didn't hear this news said, oh, there's two more that need to get out? And they proceeded to break them down, then turned on the washer and they came to me. I was done eating so I ran them through my machine and then cleaned up and split. It was about 1130. The bad lead said, oh, they're done already? And just walked off.
Jamesbo I will continue to wonder which one of us will be Chingachgook, because that link won't work. I dare say you've piqued my curiousity. Thanks for the nice words for Tiger. He seems better today but won't eat. So I know something's wrong...
Chris I happened by your house last night and couldn't help but notice the new air filter is leaking. Must be that bolt that you can't get a good wrench on
Well I think I'll head out to Lowes to get the water heater stuff for tomorrow. If I have enough time I might hit the junkyard and see if they have a rim for the car. The website says they have to Aura's, maybe I'll get lucky.
Beautiful here. Sun is out, temps going over 70. Glorious. Hope everyone has a good afternoon.

Mike - That's a good one! I went out this morning and double checked though, I didn't see any puddles of air on the floor, so I must have got it tight!
Nice here too, sunny and about 68 right now. We have all the windows in the house open. My daughter's on her way to the hospital right now to be induced. The new grandaughter should be here this evening. We won't be able to see her until she gets home because of Covid, no casual visitors at the hospital.
Found out today my inground sprinkler guy has retired and I'm going to have to find a new one. Local ordinance is that you have to have a licensed plumber certify your backflow valve system is functioning properly, so all the sprinkler system companies do it as part of their spring start-up service. Going to check with my neighbor across the street and see who he's using.
Gosh Jamesbo I don't know. I'm a relative newbie to the list but since everyone seems to have scattered, it's a quick way to build seniority. I guess whichever of us gets offended first and bails, the other one wins.
Went to Lowes to get my water heater stuff, they didn't have squat. Called my friend to ask his opinion, he said he hurt his leg and can't move, and goes to the doctor Thursday. So much for installing the heater tomorrow. I didn't feel like going to Home Depot so it doesn't matter. Maybe I'll go there tomorrow. Norm would be happy, there's a big sticker on the side of the old water heater saying be careful to not let it explode.
I see by the calendar on the wall that I'm coming up on owning my Lincoln for 18 years. Fifteen of those years it's spent hiding in my garage, because I parked a big truck that doesn't run in front of the garage and never got the truck running. That's okay, the Lincoln needs a trans, and by now a few other things. One car I shouldn't have bought. Eh.
Anna Elise Narens joined our clan last night at 9:13 pm CST. Mom, baby, and Dad are all doing great. We're already anxious to see her in person when she gets home and gets settled in.
--That is great, Chris, or Grandpa Chris!! Congratulations!
-- Well I took the box, fenders, running boards and some brackets over to a sandblasting place and had them blasted. Sure wish I had thought to do that earlier in the winter, now it is almost the middle of March and I have a lot of work to do. Sandblasting reveals swiss cheese! Yesterday I sprayed all the bare metal down with Oshpho- a acid that protects and converts any rust not removed. So I have heat going in shop at 60 overnight. Letting it dry, then will scuff up and primer, then go back and repair rust . I like to work on projects over the winter so I can have back together and use in the summer, looks like I'll be late this year.

Greg - Thanks, much appreciated. On your truck at least you have a plan and are moving forward. Continued luck going forward and keep the updates coming, we enjoy hearing how it's going.
Glorious day out. Sunny, warm, I think I'll take in the junkyard. I'll be very careful not to get in a fight with them today.
Chris I'm glad everyone is healthy and happy. I'm almost surprised the hospital let the husband in.
Work was good. We turned out over 100 wheels and were out the door by 1130. The bad lead was thwarted two days in a row. He came by and told everyone take an hour for lunch, but the washer was almost finished, so a couple guys kept tabs on it, and we kept spinning wheels until they were finished.
The bad guy called in a second day, because after his shot he was experiencing severe chills and soreness. Now everyone knows he's full of it because Monday he was asking if he'd get paid time off for reactions to the shot, like people get when they get the virus. He's gonna get himself run right out of there if he's not careful.
Okay gonna do something. Hope everyone has a good afternoon.

Mike - Thanks, much appreciated! I don't know if it made a difference in the hospital allowing my son-in-law in or not, but he is a fire fighter/paramedic and he already received his Covid vaccinations some time ago.
Sounds like you have the bad Lead's number right now, you keep him guessing!!
Warm here again today at 66, but totally overcast all day. Rain is supposed to be moving in late tonight and be with us for the next 3-days.
Spent most of the morning and into the afternoon doing bills and chasing down insurance crap. I couldn't reconcile the out-of-pocket costs we were being billed by the eye doctor for my wife's last eye exam and glasses purchase vs. what our insurance has covered in the past. I finally got ahold of someone at a central billing office and as we were going through the bill the person told me, "Oh, that's an error in our software and it's not printing out the correct amounts under the correct headings." Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!! WTF, they're sending out bills that they actually want people to pay, knowing they are not correct, and just expecting people to pay them! I told them I want a correct, detailed, itemized bill before they're getting one dime from me. I also tried to get ahold of my neighbor's sprinkler guy early in the morning and left a message on his voice-mail explaining I am a potential new customer and would like to schedule a start-up appointment. Haven't heard a peep yet from him. That's kind of how my day's went.
On a brighter note, the medical staff told my daughter that our new granddaughter checked out 100%. They'll be bringing her home tomorrow morning. This news made all the other crap seem inconsequential, we are blessed!
