James - Sounds good! I also love a good plate of beef liver and onions. Think I'll substitute corn for the green beans, although I like green beans.. All that talk about meatloaf yesterday, and unbeknownst to me at the time my wife was planning on making it for dinner. Meatloaf, mashed potatoes and brown gravy, and corn, yummy!

Jamesbo, I don't mind fried gizzards now & then. Where I used to work, I had a black co worker stop and look at me during lunch. I was eating gizzards, he didn't think white folk ate them. It was one of many things that mom cooked every now and again, probably due to her rural up-bringing and going through the Great Depression.

Alright I'm hungry, especially after the workout I just had. Here's snow pics, before and after a whole sh@tload of shoveling, I'm whooped.

Unsold lot directly behind my property

Front yard

Front door out to the mailbox

Garage bay to street after shoveling

The SE corner (frontal boundary) of that gigantic polar high pressure system which drifted into the U.S. slid right up & along the Atlantic last night & I was watching the radar just before bed noting it would pass by us ~1AM. Well, it did and there was a series of tornadoes along the front. Several tornados touched down South of us ~2.5 hrs right on the coast - killed 3 or 4, injured ~ 15 and removed several full sized homes as they literally exploded. I slept right through it all - I woke up to listen to some violent thunder but that was it.

Norm - Saw that on the news and I was wondering how close to you it was. Are you saying it was only 2.5-miles south of you, if so, that's too damn close? That's some bad sh@t!

You keep romanticizing about that snow, and I'll just keep shoveling, right now all I'm seeing is a whole crapload of work!

Chris, I was skiing in the Laurentain Mountains above Montreal when a tornado hit Atlanta and my crib in 1975.. All the TV was in French so I had no idea WTF was going on. Anywho they had surveying ribbons on the top wire of fencing so you wouldn't ski or snowmobile through someone's cow pasture and kill yourself. I guess around 4 1/2 feet of snow. You're getting there

James - I've seen that kind of accumulation in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, it's crazy, snow built up so high in the center median from the snow plows you can't see the traffic going the opposite direction. In January of 1967 we had a blizzard in Southern Michigan where my hometown got 30" in 48-hours. We could not get out of our subdivision for a week.

While residing in Milwaukee, WI, I was driving North to see my parents and brother’s families in Northern, WI & the UP Michigan. Virtual white-out -3’ already on the ground and current accumulations were topping another 2’. I was driving on a four lane divided highway Northbound in a barely drivable snow plowed one lane going -50mph while watching in my rear view about 1 mile behind me a car edging ever so slightly coming up from behind. In the next 5’ that car was now approaching me from behind so I slithered a little to the right and slowed down wondering are they really go try to pass me in this stuff when you could only see clearly 1/4 - 1/2 mile ahead from the whiteout? After they passed me going maybe 60 mph I watched carefully as was now evident it was a younger gal. In front of me ~ 1/4 mile I watched this big car perform the absolutely most delightful three to four complete 360 degree revolutions before careening into the middle meridian with ~ four to five feet of snow at road height- the center meridian is lower than the road and had that much snow from having been heavily plowed for weeks. I of course slow down, pull over ready to help. There is NO ONE on the roads. I watch the girl struggle to open her door which is buried in four to five feet of snow - opening the door was not an option. She then crawls out the driver window and is buried in the snow - car still running. I ask where she’s going - to her parents in Green Bay. I provide her with her ONLY option. Get in I’ll drive you. She was scared shitless but a wonderful person. As we began heading North in my car she called her parents explaining the situation. She was a college student in Milwaukee driving home to see her Mom & Dad. They began discussing a tow truck and that’s when I asked to speak with her Dad. I explained I’ll drop her off, but there’s no chance you’re getting a tow truck at 10PM to pull out the car in the middle of the meridian buried in snow tonight. You can appreciate how absolutely delighted her parents were when I pulled up to drop off their daughter. I mad it home to see my family that night, as well.

Hi everyone.

All's I'll say is I don't like chicken innards or snow. Good for all of you who do.

Good day at work. I was in inspection and we checked 100 wheels, which is 200 halfs. Halves? Got home about an hour early.

Sun is out now but it is rather cold. Right around freezing I think. I let the dog out and he was out for a while, and I happened to look out just in time to see him jump down into the mud. The lake is down in anticipation of rain. Then he thinks he's coming in the house. Then he thinks it's a game when I'm trying to wipe his feet off. Of all things.

Chris Happy Birthday to your daughter. I think I remember 28.

Norm when the girl crawled out the window and got in your car and you drove off, was the engine still running?

Okay gonna go do, something.

Good morning guys,
A little warmer this morning at 10 degrees at 0730, but certainly no heatwave. Unfortunately I guess the weatherman was right because it's snowing again already this morning. Right now now it's a steady, fine snow. I think I must have overdid it a bit yesterday with all the shoveling, my lower back was stiff and sore getting out of bed. I'm not looking forward to more of it today if we get the 3 - 4" projected. Next week should feel like the tropics, with 2-days in the high 40's and 5-days in the low 50's. I'm sure as hell going to enjoy that. With as much snow as we have on the ground I wouldn't doubt we'll have some localized flooding from the melt off though.

No plans today other than caring for the dogs and my usual daily workout routine. Oh, and probably more shoveling, as much as I hate to think of it. I actually skipped my usual cardio workout yesterday because of all the shoveling. My wife will probably wrap up two projects today, a table and 4 chairs (one's where I posted her upholstery work), and a chest-of-drawers. The table and chairs are especially stunning, I'll post a couple pics when they're done.

Hope everyone has a great day and be safe out there!

Hi everyone.

Sunny and not quite as cold. But that word still lingers. Cold. Got home about the same time as yesterday, about 1. Although I feel more beat up than usual.

Other than that I got nothin' . Might run an errand later, might not. I feel like taking a nap, but I know if I do that I won't sleep tonight.

See ya's.

Norm - "Ability" as in being able to play up to your standard or being able to get out at all???

Chris - I'd appreciate it if you'd refrain from using that word - I've been on Amoxicillin for x4 days. I think they're going to extract tooth #2 tomorrow afternoon.

Wife's Latest Masterpiece

Hey guys,
Here's my wife's latest refinishing project. Bought originally for $50, it's going up for sale tomorrow for $500. Solid wood, high quality upholstery, stain, and chalk paint, it's worth every penny of what she's asking for it! You'll notice the table also has one leaf for it that was also refinished.

Wow those chairs are striking! The leaf is the icing on the cake.

Hey guess what I did. Yup took a nap. I don't think I was actually asleep, but it was nice to lay down and veg. Then I put air in the car's tires. Then I had vegetable soup.

It's warmed up a little since I got home. Rain starts at 10 and then goes through tomorrow night. I'll be long in bed when it starts. I hate winter. I heard once that people who worked for USAir would bid twice a year, and bid stations as well as shifts. High time people would bid to warm winter places and then bid back in summer. That would have to suck for low time people, not only getting bumped out of your shift but bumped out of your city.

Norm good luck with the tooth. Yikes.

Norm/James/Mike - Thanks for the compliments on my wife's work, I'm pretty proud of her. Like James said, "She's a keeper", in so many ways.

Dinner tonight was Pinto Beans with a whole lot of ham and cornbread. I prefer Northern White Beans, but the Pinto's were still delicious. Sorry James, none for you because you're off the Pork. Norm, just for you I did not skimp a bit on the butter!

We only ended up with about another 2" of snow when it stopped in the early afternoon. It was a very fine, dry snow so I gave my leaf blower a try and it worked like a charm.. I was so glad I didn't need to shovel anymore!!

Hope everyone had a great day!

Mike - Hey, nothing else going on tomorrow, I might as well kick back cross my feet & watch others enjoy themselves at my expense.

Wow Chris that table set is beautiful, I'm sure well worth $500.00! Wife came out good w colonoscopy so that's good. Took a long sled ride today with some old buddies from where I used to work. It was a good time.

Greg - It's really great to hear your wife's colonoscopy went fine. Thanks for the compliment on the table and chairs, I'll be sure and let her know. The compliments from you guys mean alot to her because she knows I'm inheritantly biased.

Glad to hear you were able to get out on your sled again with the guys. How far did you go and have you continued to get more snow? Maybe this winter is going to be one of those where you're able to get a ton of riding in. I haven't been on a snowmobile since I was in my early 20's and I'm sure the new ones are more powerful, more comfortable, and probably most importantly, more dependable.

Kenneth - How are your family members in Louisiana fairing? With all the horrible news coming out of Texas I was thinking of them today and hoping they are doing ok, they really deserve a break!
