Good morning guys,
Cool and overcast here this morning at 35 and rain. Supposed to rain all day. Pretty good chance of some local flooding because there was still a fair amount of snow still on the ground before the rain started and the ground is already saturated.

Big news for the day, my wife sold the desk and filing cabinet and the buyer picked it up at 0800 this morning! WooHoo!!! She got every penny of the $200 she was asking for it.. I was really surprised the buyer didn't even make an initial counter offer. My wife had $50 into the desk/filing cabinet, including materials. Pretty darn good profit margin, but it really did look beautiful and like new.

Hope everyone has a great day!

James - I asked her, and this is just a WAG, but we both agreed about 20-hours. I know what you're getting at, but I know she's not looking at it that way. She would have been just as happy if she'd only made $20 more than she had into it for doing something she enjoys doing as a hobby. I will say this, my major hobbies (car and motorcycles) are real money pits compared to hers.

Hi everyone.

Been a productive morning. We ran several errands on the way to and from the Awful house, and came home and accomplished several tasks that have been piling up. I've been making mental notes on what I need to start doing once the weather turns nice on a permanent basis. Beautiful here, I was out without my coat.

Norm do you have a known-good battery you could pop in while your friend's battery is charging, thus expediting the procedure? Good on ya for helping him out.

Chris that's great your wife sold her stuff. No offer means it was priced too low. Like you said, it's fun and the money is secondary. Good for her.

Greg 1 degree? I'd be twitching. I remember many nights I'd get up in the middle of the night and start the cars and let them warm up, so they'd be okay in the morning to go to school and work. Mom's car in the garage was okay, but my car and the big camper sat out.

Guess I'll find more stuff to do. Later on my sister is coming over with Sonny's for dinner and we'll have a nice visit this evening. Hope everyone has a good afternoon.

Norm - Thanks. Her transaction this morning went just like your's for the paint sprayer. Lady showed up with her husband. The lady said she had been forced to work from home because of Covid and the desk was exactly what she needed for her computer and 2 monitors. She handed over the $200 and we helped them load it in their truck and they were gone in 15-minutes. Hope the battery holds its charge and your get to the root of the problem.

Norm, the wind will be shifting from the southwest to the east/northeast tomorrow, giving S.E. Wisconsin and Chicago lake effect accumulation. That doesn't happen too often.

If your car has a sport wheel, then the horn pad is an extremely simple job.

OK, I have no experience with the "regular" steering wheel.

The sport wheel (option N34) is an "original OEM wheel" depending upon how the vehicle was ordered.

These are steering wheel options I see in the Option Code info that I have archived. I'm guessing the N33 and N37 likely could be had with different actual wheel configurations:

N33 Tilt-Away Steering Wheel
N34 Custom Sport Steering Wheel
N37 Tilt & Tele. Steering Wheel
N42 Rim Blow Steering Wheel

Hi everyone.

Got home just a little bit ago. Was nice in Florida, rainy and annoying here. Eh, I'm home and staying in.

Had a nice visit with my Mom, and my sister came over last night and we had a good time. I'll be back down there in about a month, and am planning a few things. I'll be there a couple extra days and am hoping the weather will cooperate.

Gotta get a few things ready for work tomorrow and then I'll relax. Hope everyone is having a good day.

The codes were the same on convertible and hardtops. Some lights are standard equipment on the Supreme line since it was the top tier model, but are optional on the lower tier models.

The info I have shows these were part of the Y60 Convenience Group that was standard on the Supreme:

UF1 Mirror-Lamp Assembly
U25 Luggage Compartment Lamp
U26 Underhood Lamp
U27 Glove Box Lamp
U28 Ash Tray Lamp
U29 Courtesy/Map Light

Chris, The DQ in Alpharetta Ga would always give me a free mini cup of vanilla for Red dog. The one in Cleveland Ga would always charge me even after I said " No spoon" Form the time it took to get from the drive in window to the entrance it was gone

That's not good! Hell, we can't even get local mail on time. Local USPS in St.. Louis is running more than a week late delivering local mail. I called our City Office a couple days ago asking where my monthly water, sewer, trash bill was and they told me they had all been sent to the USPS sorting center in St. Louis and they still hadn't sent them back out for local delivery yet. Of course the City Office was more than willing to give me the amount owed over the phone and let me know I could pay it without a payment stub!

James - Nice that one DQ would give you a free one. "Ginnys", a local greasy spoon and frozen yogurt place 10-minutes from us always gives us a pup cup for the dogs if we bring them up there. We get take out there about once every 2-weeks, best burgers anywhere close to us. We always keep the freezer stocked with the dog's own brand of low sugar frozen vanilla yogurt. Their internal clock knows when it's time for their evening fix. They get about 3 or 4 little chunks each per night. So damn spoiled it ain't funny!

Was sposta be super cold last night-weather guessers said about 5 above, but I looked at the themometer and it said 15.Better than the 1 above the other night. I looked at the propane bills for 2020 and for the year they totalled about $1950.00! As we only heat about 5 months a year works out to about $400.00 a month in heating season. Damn!! Well I guess that's what you get when you buy a too big house in Michigan! It is ironic that I worked about 1/2 of my career as a natural gas service guy, but never lived at a place that had natural gas service. Always had a propane "pig" in my yard and the much higher heating bills.. Wife and I went for a short snowmobile ride yesterday with another couple. It was really good to get wifey out and she enjoyed it.
-- Chris, just love your pooches!!
--Norm, I see your Cutlass has tilt wheel. Do you adjust it much? I remember when tilt was a real desirable and rare option. My best buddy back in the day always liked to put the tilt wheel low on his car that had it and drove it like a jet pilot. Funny thing was(and still is) whenever I drive a car with tilt I always put it right in the center.. Right where is would be if it didn't have tilt. Just feels the best to me. My Cutlass doesn't have it.

Greg - Glad you were able to get out for a ride with your wife. I enjoy my wife riding with me, but she doesn't go as often, or on as long a rides as she used to. She doesn't like riding over about 6-hours now because she hates to think of the dogs needing to go out. Speaking of the dogs, I really appreciate your compliment. Love em to death, but they can also be a pain in the **** too.

Speaking of our cars steering columns, the one on my 67 is a fixed one, and I can't believe how low it is. I'm not a big guy, and it is hard for me to get in and out, especially if I forget to pull the seat all the way back before I get out. I'm really surprised they were made that low.

Norm - Another SH@TTY day here too. Gray and cold, 32 at 0920, and not supposed to get above 35. At least it's not raining like it has the previous two days. They were calling for sunny and 50 this Wednesday and I was excited because it was going to coincide with my winter tri-weekly schedule for starting the toys up. Now they've revised the high for that day to 44. I will probably still go ahead and get them out because it's still supposed to be sunny, and there aren't any better days forecast in the near future.

Norm, the deluxe steering wheel should be standard on the Supreme. I don't have the '71 sales brochure, but I have the '70 version. The deluxe steering wheel is shown as standard equipment across the product line, with the exception of the Cutlass Supreme Sedan.

Hi everyone.

Got home around 1 today. A perk of doing that inspection gig. I'm beat, ,we turned over a hundred wheels today. And it's cold and windy out. Hardly inspiring.

I think everyone had the rim blow horn back in the day. Not terrific if you always drove with a death grip. If you had the rim blow did the center section still work as the horn also?

I used to make my house payment at the local branch and the woman would give Tiger a treat at the drive through. Yesterday on the way home we were in Arby's drive through and I thought Tiger was going to jump out the window and into the restaurant. Try doing anything when you have 94 pounds of dog in your face.

I'm in for the day so I think I'll light the stove. Hope everyone has a good evening.

I remember it being just the rim. I had one in my 1970 Supreme and after what was originally a soft, compressible strip around the rim dried up and cracked, I had to search all around the wheel to find a spot that would activate the horn. Definitely not what you want in an emergency situation.

We're talking about the N42 Rim Blow Steering Wheel and not the one in your car. At least that's what I'm talking about and thought Mike was as well.

Hey Chris do you still have the blue lights on your house? I used to listen to this years ago and then forgot all about it. Nothing wrong with a little swing now and again.

Norm - Since you owned a 67 442, you'll definitely remember this dash and steering wheel. I really don’t like the feel of the steering wheel. It gets really slick with sweaty palms in +90-degree weather without A/C, but since it's OEM and in pretty decent shape, I won't cover it because of judging at shows. You just don't see very many originals in that kind of shape after 53-years.

You're not going to start eating all healthy on us are you??? LoL

Weren't those 8 tracks pieces of ****. I only owned one, I think it was a Sylvania. It was as large as a woman's hatbox. Had it mounted in a bracket under the glove box in a 1970 Buick LeSabre Custom 4 door hardtop (no pillar). Had that car my junior and senior years in high-school in 75-77. Believe it or not, that 4,300 lb. beast was fast. It had the Buick 455 with a 4bbl Quadrajet in it. We could cram 8 people in it, and you had to take up a collection from all 8 to keep it in gas, avg. 9 mpg. Those were the days, 8 teenagers in a car, a few beers, and 120 mph, how in the hell did I ever live to be 20!

Same here, it was the factory under dash 8-track in the 1970 Cutlass Supreme that I inherited from my Dad. The 8-track had a couple of issues, such as switching tracks when the car hit a bump in the road. I tolerated that for the time it took me to save up for a new Sanyo AM/FM/cassette unit, then that 8 track went into the trash. I can still remember the loud "thump" it made when it hit the bottom of the metal trash can, and thinking how much faster the car should be without that anchor dragging it down.

Norm, you have the normal steering wheel. The rim horn wheel had a soft circumference where the inlay is located, pressing that anywhere on the wheel would sound the horn. The center pad/horn was also functional. I had one on my '70 SX back in the day. I thought that it was cool at first, but every time that I made a turn, the damn horn honked. I put a steering wheel wrap on it, and that put enough material on there so that it wasn't so sensitive. Grand Funk, huh.
