Monday. Nice Monday. Beautimus Monday. It's already 75° at 11:00 am. Mostly clear sky with nice breeze about 14.37 mph.

My new master cylinder from Rock Auto should be here soon. Boy they have fast shipping, even on international. I ordered that part on Friday and it's sitting in the local facility. For some reason they won't deliver it today because it was originally scheduled for tomorrow. Weird.

Gotta get the lawns cut today as it's spoda rain the next 4 days. All that fertilizer and aerating sure makes it grow fast, but it's also so nice and green.

Jim - I figure 43/42. I don't believe that thing about PR doing a JB impression with the club. I hope ya never get that mad.

Glenn - Are you back at your landscaping again?

Haven't seen much of Adrian, Jouni, or Kyle lately. Hope they're ok.

The Woody wagon was one of my favorites as well, along with the nocturne blue '65 442. There was a '31 Olds there that i took a couple of pics of, that, for some reason aren't one my photo card. Dang if I know where they went. The N.A.O.C. nats are supppsed to be in Lansing next year in July. I plan on attending as they had a few Olds Limited's the last time they were there in 2010. Those big Limited's are so cool in my opinion, and I have never seen them anywhere else. Allan, I have heard the term dikes applied to gay women in the past, though, if not in the encyclopedia, people have used it.

Got all the lawns trimmed and the rock swale cleaned out. That swale takes a lot of work as I have to move a lot of rocks to get to the weed / grass roots that encroach on it. I need it clean because it also has a weeping tile that runs along the planter wall and down to the curb. Fortunately I do this routinely so it's not too big a job.

Now I need to wash out the garage. Taking down the drywall last week for insulation and then reinstalling it left a real mess on the floor and the missus is not pleased when it tracks into the laundry room. In spite of all our efforts to be extremely careful, the drywall fell (on end) onto the RF fender of the Cutlass. I checked under the cover after we got it under control and was shocked to see there was absolutely no damage. Dodged a bullet there. I have to be somewhat careful about how much I do nowadays to avoid being sick. Sux to be older and more vulnerable to stuff, but I can't wait to get the old girl back on the road. I'll use the existing SSIII and 225/70/14's as rollers to the alignment shop. Then I'll change over to the SSII's I restored in 2018 and put new BFG's on. I can't wait to also install the NOS center caps and trim bezels. Those wheels will pop. I think only the Olds people will understand the color difference on the SSII's contrasted against the body color.

Dan, That read on the oil was enlightening and like you said - quite looonng. It took me close to half hour to decipher the values and ratings of the synthetic and dino oil. Looks like I'll be going with synthetic 10/30 in the Cutlass. And that would be Pennzoil; according to that blog it's a really good oil. re: dikes. I think the spelling of the word is different when it's used as slang for Lesbians. Could be wrong but I believe it's 'dykes'. It's such a word of many meanings isn't it? One of the other uses for the word is to describe nippers or cutters. EDIT: I just found this on the ol puter and it appears that you and Jim are right. Could be either spelling.
The term dyke or dike is a slang noun meaning lesbian; it is also a slang adjective describing things associated with lesbianism. It originated as a homophobic and misogynistic slur for a masculine, butch, tomboyish, or androgynous female.
It always bothers me when something goes missing so I can appreciate how you feel about those missing pictures. I enjoyed looking at all of them. Makes me wish I wasn't so cheap and would buy a decent camera...

Jim, I agree with your philosophy. Late lunch time - got 2 slabs of poke ribs braisin on the grill. Should be done in about 15 minutes. Yum! Urp, akshully I left this for a bit and jess finished them. dang they were good!!

Long day. I spent the morning trying to take a TV down that had crapped out, and the afternoon moving old raffle tickets from old cardboard boxes into not as old cardboard boxes. I'm thinking this was a task designed to **** off the volunteers. Eh, I got all Delta with it and finished it up in a couple hours. Hopefully tomorrow I can work on cars.

I use dikes working on the car or doing something with wires. Diagonal cutters/side cutters.

It was nice to walk around the collection today and see what had changed. Lots of really nice cars, I wish we could take them out. Two Oldsmobiles. A Curved Dash and a 1910 Big Something. It's the car that's in the picture of the car racing the train. I'll see if I can get a picture put up.

Went to the Chicago restaurant again for dinner. Cleverly, the place is called Taste Of Chicago. Clever because that's the name of a festival that's been going on there for about 40 years. I had a beef sandwich that was awesome. Tomorrow I'll have a gyro or maybe another hot dog.

The counter on the phone said I walked 6 miles today. I was working on those raffle tickets upstairs and it was up and down several times. Not to mention I walk all over town because I learned that renting a car was just a waste of money. Actually my hotel is just a couple blocks from the museum, very convenient.

And that's it for me. Hope everyone had a good Monday.

Glad you're having a good time Mike.
Yesterday was just beautiful, Sunny and about 75-perfect! We started the day with a wild goose chase. Literally! The lake association paid a guy who can move geese away from the lake. I know it sounds weird. In Michigan you can't shoot geese as much as you want to, It's illegal. So the association got permission from the DNR to move geese from our lake to the Saginaw bay. We had 12-14 pontoon boats. Half of us went to the north end, half to the south end. There were people on the shore to herd the birds into the water, then we came around with the boats and slowly herded them to the center of the lake at the public boat landing. We were part of the north group. We picked up 40 geese and coaxed them down to the landing. The south people didn't get any which was surprising. Anyway all went well until they got to the area for the round up. They didn't want to go on the land. Some flew away, which wasn't supposed to happen because they should be molting at this time and not able to fly. Well we lost some but got 32 all told. If you have a lakefront place where there are geese you will understand why we did this. The amount of nasty soft greasy turds they leave is unbelievable! They say that once the birds are relocated they won't come back here. I hope it works..
After the roundup wife and I screwed in the barn, OOPS I meant screwed down more OSB in the barn. Then took a nice boat ride with friends, Then had burgers from the grill. A great day.
Today we plan to screw some more- looks like a cloudy day today. Have a good one!

Quiet day. Sunny, then cloud and rain. Now sunny again. Spoda be cloudy and more rain later... Good thing I got all the outside chores done yesterday. Called Poly Pro's and scheduled the concrete slab lift. July, hopefully not during the rain.

Greg - It appears you and the missus must really enjoy your time in the barn. No way I'd be involved with a goose roundup. Those things are darn nasty when they want to be.

Hope Marc is doing ok on the island.

Jim - Wouldn't you be sprized if those were guys fillin em out. What happened to the course? I can't imagine a course that's not open when you're up and about. You got enough land you could open your own driving range I think. Betcha you could make a killin (no pun intended) doin that.

Well that's bizarre. Never heard of it anywhere up here. When it's Whackin time up here, we even have twilight golf with glow in the dark *****... Courses gotta maximize their profits before the weather closes in and the dog sleds run rampant over the greens.

Allan, 99.999 % of the golf clubs are closed on Monday. The place I'm a member of has 2 courses,One's closed on Monday's and the other is closed on Tuesday. [where I like to play and closest to my home.] I leave my sticks in the bag room so [unless I remember to get them out,] I can't play on Tuesdays . I could if I remember to get my clubs and if I wanted to drive to town to play [which I don't want to do]

Hi everyone.

Busy day at the museum. Helped get a couple big cabinets from the upstairs down and into the shop. Worked still on those stupid boxes, only for a little while, then helped detail a 1950 Porsche 356 coupe. Gorgeous car. I'll post up a picture of it and a couple more I took around the place.

Greg we get a lot of those geese on our lake as well. There's a law that says they are endangered and we can't shoot them. We were about overrun with them one year so we hired some outfit to come trap them all. I'd say they got about 80% of them. Pushed them off the islands and down to the edge of the lake and into a big trailer. We asked what they were going to do with them, and they said put them on a farm and shoot them. Great.

Jamesbo that's about the gist of it.

So at the Chicago place tonight hot dogs were the special so I had two Chicago dogs and fries. Boy howdy they were good. Also found out, the owner of the place, who is from the south side of Chicago, worked at Aurelio's in Homewood, the place I grew up going to. You may remember Aurelio's is where I go get pizza in Marietta, an hour from my house. Anyway I'm looking at the back bar and they have cans of beer called Occidental. And it written in the style of the old Oldsmobile. Big O, and a tail on the L that sweeps under the whole world. I was going to ask the bar tender about it but I forgot. I'll have to look it up.

Okay, gotta get myself all together because I gotta be up and on the bus by 430 in the morning. Sheesh that will make for a long day. I hope everyone had a good day.

This is what I worked on this afternoon. It was repainted at some point, probably 50 years ago. It's getting all new brakes and a leak needs to be chased down. Next to it is the Dymaxion. Three wheeler, driven/steered from the single back wheel. Powered by a flat head Ford V8. Loads of info on the internet about the three of them, this is the only one left.

Here is the car that started it all for me with this place. It's the Jerrari. A 1977 Jeep Wagoneer. That's a twin cam Ferrari V12 stuffed in there. Next to it is a 61 Ghia, that Frank Sinatra owned and drove. Behind that, a 62 Lincoln convertible that John F. Kennedy drove. I believe Ford "assigned" that car to a retreat where JFK would go in Florida and that was his car while he was there.

This is a real Curved Dash and the only other Oldsmobile in the collection. There used to be a 66 Toronado owned by Florence Henderson, but that got sold years ago, someone thought it wasn't a relevant piece for the collection. I waited for that guy to move and he just wouldn't, so finally I said, smile, and took my picture. I guess he didn't get the message.

That's the stuff Dan. Doesn't say why they picked that style writing. Sparks in right next to Reno, sort of like Minneapolis/St. Paul. Most times ads will say, the Reno/Sparks area.

Maybe I should have had some, I stuck with my Coors Light. Ya I know I'm just out of control.

Nice pics Mike. The one thing that I have learned while trying to take pics of cars at car shows, is that there are some real morons out there. I will be trying to take a pic, and people will just step right in front of me. Others will look right at me when I'm trying to take a pic, totally clueless to the fact that I don't want them in the photo at all. The considerate ones are becoming more rare as time wears on.

^^LOL^^

Seriously, one day about 2 weeks ago I was reading a thread and elected to check the user's Album images. There was a full head-on view of a gal smoking his sausage. I thought maybe I was hallucinating. I exited his Album, then exited the CO site then went back to his Album and the smoking sausage image was still there and viewable. I repeatedly checked on the image (it was quite apparent she knew how to smoke a sausage) but after about another 10 minutes the image disappeared. Is it possible to recover that image?

Hi everyone.

Lost a lot of faith in the company today, Got out of Reno this morning no problem, but sat all damn day in Salt Lake City. Every flight to Atlanta was oversold and no non-revs got on. The list would grow exponentially between flights, and I, with only 25 years and flying on a priority pass, got squat. At some point my name dropped off the standby list and the counter broad wouldn't put it back on. Said she couldn't help me, go to the next flight. All she was doing was passing the buck. About that time the whole network's computers decided to go tango uniform and things slowed down to a crawl. Long story short I got a little pushy(in a nice way, sort of)and got on the flight that one broad wouldn't put me on. I was only 6 hours late for picking up Tiger, so I'll see him in the morning.

And what was really odd, I saw no wide bodies all day long. I even asked, is there some weather or temperature problem that the big planes can't get over the mountains? Nope, that doesn't happen until it hits 100*. Very odd. Oversold flights and pissed off passengers and they elect to fly medium sized planes and leave a bunch of people behind. It's a double edged sword, though. I make the amount of money I do and get my sizeable profit sharing because of all these people, yet when I need to get on a plane I can't. At the end of the day, and it's almost the beginning of another, I got home, only cost me 22 bucks extra(extra night for Tiger), and I'm not sleeping on a park bench in the airport lobby tonight.

And tomorrow as soon as I pick up Tiger we're headed to my Mom's. I spoke with her tonight and said I might just stay home, and she said oh no there's too many things I need to do. Hm. Going for some relaxation on my birthday and she has a list of things. Eh, that's typical. My sister always likes planning things so she'll plan some sort of dinner, either at someone's house or out, and it will be a good time.

Jamesbo do you remember what happened to Pat? I seem to remember he was in some sort of accident.

And I'm beat. I wanted to put up a couple more pictures but that will have to wait. Hump Day humped me today for sure. Hope everyone is well.

Well, 2 nice days in a row, WOW. Today its back to raining again.Yesterday we finished screwing down the OSB. Nice to get that part done. I talked to a overhead door company that is supposed to come and look at the door opening and other conditions to install a garage door and opener. I installed the doors in my pole barn at last place back in the 90's but that was new construction. This barn has a 12' wide X 93" tall opening which of course is not standard. So, I wanted someone that's experienced. I called him yesterday after taking to him in person 2 weeks ago. He acted like he didn't remember me at all! Well we'll see if he comes, he said he would in a couple days. I just don't get it with contractors/repairmen/handymen around here. I called 2 other overhead door installers and neither called me back. I also called 2 guys for another job and they never called back. It seems if they don't ignore you they string you along....
I found out about a 300 gallon LP tank for sale near here-a friend of a friend. I am still figuring out whether to use propane or wood to heat the shop. The guy wanted $300 for the tank which was a great deal. So, long story short, I took $300 cash with me and planned to buy it. I offered him $200 and really expected to buy it for $250 but probably would have paid the $300. He got so pissed when I offered him the $200 that I just left- don't need to deal with that, what will be will be, maybe I'll use wood after all- It's free on my land but a lot of work...Have a good one!

Anutter soggy mawnin here. Been raining now for the past 3 days. Weather dude says it should taper off this afternoon, another one says mebbe tomorrow. Can't win.

What a surprise. Today I went to take out the trash and it's already been done. Kind of a WTH moment for me that I'll take anyday I've been taking the trash out for darn near 20 years here and BAM! Gotta ask the missus if she did it or my son did it cuz I know it didn't walk out there by itself. Anywho, it was a nice surprise but I'm not going to get my hopes up it will be an ongoing thing.

Greg - Did you ask him if he was negotiable before or after you showed up? I had some stuff for sale and advertised it at a set price. Guy messages me and says he'll take it, no questions asked. When he shows up he starts offering low ball pricing so I just said, no thanks because there are others interested and I'll just call them back since I gave you first crack at it. He had the cash in hand within 2 seconds. It's interesting how some people react, but the whole thing was handled nicely and politely. I really didn't think the guy would drive all the way from 40 miles out to start a negotiation either, although that happened 2 years ago. Guy showed up and started haggling like he was buying a new car in a show room. Finally I just had to tell him if he wanted it, the price was already set when he messaged he wanted it and accepted my price on the messaging. And I get why you walked away - I wouldn't stay and deal with a guy who is pissed. But really, if 300 was a great deal, why not start at 250? I guess it's going to be a long summer of cutting wood now. Good to hear you and your wife and done screwing in the barn.

Mike - What's the deal with wide bodies and routes? I have no idea what you're talking about. Is it something that companies only designate to long distance routes or high volume?

Jim - I believe Pat passed at the end of November 2016 related to heart attack IIRC. He really seemed to like resto modding the 50's Olds with 455's. Can you imagine if they had the 455 back in 1950's when the 'Rocket' first came out?? The HP wars of the 60's and early 70's would likely all be pushing 800-900 hp daily drivers...

No brekkie wit de boyz today. Too much water on the street and I sold 'das boot' last year. I imagine the canals will be awash with barges navigating for position at the intersections...... Settle for home cooked sow belly, poached cackleberries and rye toast.

Good morning everyone.

I feel a lot better today. Didn't get up until almost 9. Went to the Awful house then got Tiger and now I need to get ready to head to Florida. At least I'm in control of the travel plans today.

Greg when I bought my convertible I did the same thing. He wanted 21K for it, I offered 19 expecting to split it. He said no, because I know you'll pay the 21. He was right. If I would have been marginal about the car I would have walked, but it was a car I had been looking for, what I thought about it when I got it home is a different story.

Allan there's a whole department of people who decide which planes go where. I have no clue what they are thinking when they send medium sized planes to a large plane market. The biggest plane I saw yesterday was a 757, and that's about 180 seats. I don't know where it was going. Years ago we flew L1011s into SLC. I read once that the goal for every flight was full plane plus one. Like I said, I realize the paying passengers are paying my salary, but when the company goes on at length about the value of my flight benefits and how they add to my "total compensation package," and then when the rubber meets the road their basic attitude is go away. If they'd just come out and say, the non-revs are pond scum, I think I'd be better with it.

Jamesbo I have to put on that shirt again next week. I'm flying to DC and my sister is renting a truck and trailer and we're bringing home her daughter's car. I seldom have trouble getting out(except for Denver) but always seem to have trouble getting back. This time I'm not flying back, so the joke's on them.

Okay I have about a half hour before I want to leave, so I'll get unpacked and packed and then hit the road. My traveling buddy can be a pain sometimes but I'd rather he be along than not. I sure did miss him this week. Have a good day everyone, I'll probably check in from Mom's house. I use her computer to look at emails and the like when I'm there, I learned that taking my own computer is a colossal pain in the derriere.

Fly employees to Timbuktu, but don't let them return
