Happy Day of Labor, all... So it feels a little strange to this geezer to have a Labor Day with no trace of anything that resembles Jerry Lewis's M.D.A. telethon. Ol' Jerry is 90 now and I'm guessing his health ain't getting any better.

Feel better soon, Koda. Mike, don't take no ap-cray from dem guys (like there's a chance!). Have fun, Dan. BTW, any chance for a October car show in N. Mich.? Looks like I'll be up there on the 10th for almost a week.

Hasta manana, Olds amigos.

October 8th in Pentwater (Octoberfest), but it may not be far enough north for you. The Labor Day car show that I went to today had over 700 cars, a record I believe for this event. I think the fact that it is one of the last shows of the year, and a cancer fundraiser, is why it does so well, along with temps in the mid 80's.

Hi everyone.

A quick hi and goodbye, as I need to put the trash out, mine and the neighbor's, and then stop at the gas station so I'm not pushing the blue van to work.

Nice, nice day here. Good night last night, though we worked our a$$es off all night long. Eh, it's good for us. Tonight is Friday, I assume it will be Dan the douchebag as lead. I don't care, after tonight I got 86 hours they can't touch me.

Hope everyone has a good evening. Short week for the regular crowd, can't beat that.

Well the other day [after a spin in my drop top]] I lock de garage door with my keys inside. I have about 20 lbs. of keys but none of them fit.

So, I'm too cheap to call a lock smith on a holiday and pay plumbers +++ rates, so I went to bed.

Bout 3 a.m. de little light bulb in my head went off and I remebered the gargage has a loft door that I hadn't used in 20 years

Problem solved after distroying ten million spider webs, I was able to crawl down the cubby hole from the loft and unlock the sucker and rescue my keys from the floor of the drop top

8 years of college finally paid off

Have a great day Olds friends

Hola, all....

The goat playing on Monday was quickly forgotten when crawling thru the cobwebs, eh Jamesbo? All's well that ends well. Now you and S.M. can go to Ruth's Chris and enjoy a "free" meal.

Gorgeous today here in the hills as well, Mike. Have a great Friday and don't let the D.B. get you down.

Headed back to the Plantation manana... leavin' at Zero-Dark-30, but not quite as dark as Clint's risin' time. Man, Clint -- I used to get up at 4 when I was runnin' to the south shore every morning, and it eventually caught up with me. But to save better half at least a couple hours, she's going to drop me off at the Sandy Springs Marta station, north of town, and won't have to fight bumper-to-bumper traffic for what we figure would 2-3 hrs.

Been having a problem on the dumb laptop with one of the Win 7 security updates since July; dern thing won't install no matter what processes & procedures I perform (according to the MS web site). Pizzes me off, but I should be used to it after using Windows since 3.1 when we had to get updates via floppy disk.

Dan, that sounds like a rollicking good car show. Glad you enjoyed. Maybe you could post a few pic's? Honestly, if there were a show up North when I'll be up there, Gene would know about it. So I'll just have to content myself with a couple trips to the Mancelona junk yard. ;-)

Whelp, I think we're working up the courage to take down the mountain bikes and head back to Jackrabbit Mtn.

Y'all have a great one, Olds podnuh's.

Got dat right, Jamesbo. But remember: keep your friends close, but your enemies closer. ;-) Maybe it's time to check out the competition. BTW, at their best, I've not had better than Ruth's Chris. You just pay for it.

Diversion: I remember when Ruth Fertel originally bought Chris' Steak House; I was a pretty young duckling then. Her ex-hubby (Rodney Fertel) actually ran for mayor of N.O. in the late 60s and got about 300 total votes! His entire mayoral platform consisted of the phrase, "Get the gorilla!," which was an effort to renovate the Audubon Zoo. He would actually campaign on TV wearing a gorilla costume.

I don't know if anybody put out more colorful characters than my native city -- although I know many are in the running.

John, I'll be the 1st to admitt, y'all got the best shrimp and bon secour oysters but I think we need to have a Ruth Chris vs. Bone's steak cook off. We'll let Mike decide who has the best boeuf.

We'll even split doggie bas between Red and Mike's pups [if there are any left overs]

Good evening.

Been, and will be short days at work this week. So short that ive been reading there with phone, but dont bother to write; i hate to do it with touchscreen with my hands. No night-shifts even!

Got all little things done, correct dual-hump crossmember is almost done; sanded from rust, and 1 coat of paint on it. 1 coat more and its ready. Also, ordered whole rebuild kit for rear, and "new" rear-end ratio ( 3.42) and true-trac. Should be plenty of work for winter. Also fixing my trans..

Friend painted his 72' Camaro from Yellow to gloss black, and it turned out perfect. Really good looking piece.

Have a nice week everyone.

Afternoon.

Taking a sick day; I think I'm getting better. I don't take sick days, although I could, I just burn a vacation day so I never could get yelled at. I seem to need one once every 3 years or so. Slant, I don't know what happened, but I seem to be improving now; we'll see. I don't really have a doctor up here, so no one is set up to just see someone at a clinic, even though there are plenty of clinics, and I thought ad hoc one time medical visits were the whole point of those.

Terre Haute, being a big union town, usually has a big labor day parade. I had planned to be up there this weekend, but got waylayed.

BOP, I went to a Ruth's Chris one time. Steak was fine, but it was pricey, all was a la carte, and the plate was nuclear so the steak was hot the whole time, which bugged me for some reason. I guess it's not my style.

Hi everyone.

Not a bad night at work. As I suspected, Dan was the lead. He pulled the same trick he did last week, gives everyone a truck but me. Says, one should turn up soon. I fixed his wagon I rode with another guy and got my work done despite him. Don't know why he seems to have it in for me, eh screw him.

Koda glad you're getting better. I haven't had a real knock-down, take me out cold in a long time. That's funny about the vacation day. We used to have an excellent sick time deal, tons of days that kept accruing, but if you used one you got in trouble. Didn't matter if you were on your deathbed, if you called in sick you got written up. Those days went away with the good sick plan.

Jamesbo I'm all for a steak-off, but I might get disqualified if you find out I thought Bones was a barbeque place.

Clint hope you pick a good one.

Okay gonna go cut down trees at the shop. Got plenty of fire wood but my plan for this winter is to use my stove more. It will still be supplemental heat, but the more I run it the less natural gas I use, hence a smaller bill. And besides I keep it just warm enough in the house so the dogs don't have icicles hanging from their noses. Having actual heat in the house is always a luxury.

See ya's all later.

Mornin all.

Mike, thanks. The pickens were pretty slim. I've had 2 applications turned in and one guy couldn't drive any vehicle that didn't have a breathalyzer lock out installed. I have a young lady starting on the 19th. I just have to get thru the next 2 weeks.

Koda, hope you are feeling up to par today.

Pepe' LePew just sauntered past the house. I didn't see him but could tell he was in the neighborhood.

Have a Wednesday all.

Clint, Good help is hard to find.Doesn't matter if it's cutting grass or wrenching.

When I had a large real-estate office. I spent 90% of my time keeping secretaries from killing each other fighting over a parking space.
Man am I glad those days are way behind me. Don't get alot of complaints from folks in the cemetery.

Mike, I was gonna buy you a 28 ounce Porterhouse. but I've decided their iron skillet hash browns covered with caramelized onions would make you feel more like you were home at the Awful House

Here's a cool video [for those of you that don't suffer from acrophobia] that explains "Eagle eye"

Good morning everyone.

The mornings have been beautiful lately. Low 60s, sun comes up, very nice. I wouldn't mind if this stuck around for awhile.

Clint good luck with the new hire. Hope she works out.

Jamesbo I'm lucky if the onions hit the grille when the cook flips them out of the little bin.

I've decided it's time for a vacation. Everyone seems to be irritating me. The people at Walmart. The manager at Awful house. The counter guy at the auto parts store. Trouble is, wherever I go there will be people. At least they'd be different people.

Well just a bunch of little things to do today. Found out the lake is getting lowered come November, so it's time to start buying block. So far the yard hasn't fallen too far into the water where the wall has failed. It will be nice to have that shored up, though.

Okay off to it. Hope everyone is feeling good today.

Kwik hola after touching down at Moisant Stock Yards (New Orleans - Kenner, Louisiana, in non-airport lingo).

A carnivore's club meeting in GA would be great... And yes, Ruth's is pricey. And they're only a la carte -- at least for din-din. Koda, I love the sizzle, but to each his own. It definitely continues to cook a bit when they bring it to you.

Hope the new help turns out to be Wonder Woman, Clint. Plus, it would be great to be able to work next to Lynda Carter.

Whelpt, my "new" mower awaits, and the ground is finally dry. Sooooooooooo......

Have a great Humpity, Olds pals.

Mower cut like new... but grass was so high, I had to remove the mulching plug and just spit the grass out. It was swell, but turf doesn't look as clean with the cuttings all over. Oh, well.

Where is everybody? Pepe must've run Clint off to Pike's Peak somwehere...

Jamesbo, let's line up a visit to (The Tall One's) Bones in the next few months.

Have a great one, Olds friends.

Good morning everyone.

Clint new dog look at you! Dogs are awesome and better than most people.

Mowing season is going to be done here shortly. The grass has already slowed down in its growing, which is fine with me. I don't like what that means, but not having to mow doesn't make me sad.

Had a short day at the Awful house. Got there a little late and both my friends that were there had to go run errands, and another guy had just come in that yammers on and I can't stand him, so I left. Went to the tag office to cancel the reg on the Cadillac. It needs work and I have plenty others to drive. Might look at turning the Mustang into something else today, too.

So yesterday I said to myself, self, you should run the leave blower in the dryer duct. I haven't done that in the 11 years I've lived here, and it's been spitting little lintlets out of the outlet when the dryer is on. Man, it blew out enough stuff to fill a plastic Walmart bag and then some. That, my friends, is a fire waiting to happen. Anyone who hasn't done this in awhile, or ever, I highly recommend it.

Got some painting to do inside today, and maybe a little demolition. It's my last day off again but I'm not going to say make it count, because that's a challenge to just sit and do nothing all day. And I can't do that. So have a good day everyone.

That's exactly what I did. First off, my dryer hose that connects to the wall is about 18 feet long and curled up every which way, so I stretched it out to get it all clean. Then I took it off the wall and stuck the blower in there. That really did the trick. This is going to be a regular thing. I used to let the dryer run while I wasn't home until I got the dogs, then I wouldn't do it. Then I saw how quick a dryer fire can start and how quick it becomes devastating. So I wouldn't do that no matter what now.

Okay got a couple little things done and now I think it's time to go car shopping. The Mustang must go away. The top two picks are Chevy Cruze Limited L, and Dodge Dart SE. The Dart might be a bit small for me. It has the Fiat 500's engine which is good, but it's also about the same size, which is bad. We'll see.

In that case, nevermind.

If you throw out some dates before end of year, Mike (hopefully) and I could whittle down to one. If you discover at last minutes you have a family to tend to, we could always find something else to do. Not sure if this would be a "better halves" event or not... I could go either way. I know how difficult it is to herd the S.M. Maybe it could be a boys' afternoon out.

So Mike, this is your drop-top 'Stang you're talking about?

Mernin, all...

Cute pup, Clint! That "meatwagon" pretty much left me speechless, so I couldn't comment. But I like the lines on the insect.

Went to a machine/slash/fab shop in Hammond this morning to get a few little braces made up for the hydraulic press I bought months ago that was missing them -- and thus, hasn't yet been used. There was a $40 minimum shop fee, and the steel base stock was 43 cents/foot, so I bought 2' and and will play the machinist later on today (after playing gardner and landscaper for a coupley hours). All I need to do is cut the little braces to proper length, drill the ends, and grind off the corners. Sounds easy... I hope.

Bachelorhood is going fine so far this week...

Have a great Friday, Olds compadres.

Good evening. Week is off. I think i finally found Place to build my "supercutlass" ( ) during winter, whole drivetrain.

Off from sauna, and behind is a pile of beers. Tomorrow is cruisings, and i will be driving my belowed wifey and her friend for whole evening as i promised to my wifey. Driving season is going to be soon over there, maybe month, or month and half at best, and thats it.

Have a good weekend everyone.

Hi everyone.

Happy Friday to me. My time off wasn't near long enough, though I did get a few things done.

Clint that's a great picture. I'd have 100 dogs if I could.

Jamesbo that looks sort of like the Chrysler 300 hearse that Australia has. Big ugly thing. Oddly enough it's made here and then imported over there, yet we don't have anything like that. I guess our dead are too good to ride in a Chrysler, it has to be a Cadillac.

My Granddad was friends with the owner of a local mortuary, and one day this guy called when he knew Grampa wasn't home and left a message. Grampa called him back and said, this is Warren Cosner. Did you want me? The undertaker said no, we're not ready for you just yet. Grampa thought that was hilarious. I hear this happens a lot, some sense of humor those grave diggers have.

John no parties while Mom isn't home. Glad you've got a handle on the grass. First time this summer?

A few of us have quit showing up again. Darrell, Paul, Scot, I see Scot on fb all the time. He must not like us anymore. Dan went to the car show and never came back. That good, eh?

Well time to hit the road. Hope everyone has a good weekend.

Evening,

I worry about dryer fire. I had a nice fixed pipe Immelman turn put into my basement dryer to go up, back, over, and out the wall, but I will use a blower. It is disassemble-able.

Went and got quote on replacing grandma's AC unit. Pricey, but insurance should help. Empty house, so no real big deal, plus it runs (it's running right now, actually), it's just squashed like buuug.

Went and saw a doc at a clinic. She says I am super congested and prescribed Claritin, which I am on, and some vertigo pills if I wanted to fill them and she recommended not to for my occasional moments of it. Seems to think I will de-funk out in a few days. Come back if not.

May actually run the 442 tomorrow, I need to move it. Forgot the charger, I will see how much oompf it has to go. I may pull the Rocket Scientist Approved "fill the bowl through the vent tube" method to go on the first try.

LOL, I'm here every day, I just don't always comment. Speaking of car shows, off to the Gilmore on Sunday, supposed to be mid 70's, and low humidity, great weather for a show. Inline, we've got about 6-7 weeks left of cruising weather left, just depends on when ole man winter decides to show up, usually when the temp drops into the 40's or less, people put their cars up for the season.

Trimmed the bushes yesterday and was in middle of playing machinist when I discovered all 3 of my 18V batteries of the drill were empty as my head; so charged 'em and will finish today. Then it's Aunt Carmy and a seafood platter (unless she has something else in mind, which I doubt) this evening.

Koda, I had a bout with vertigo a couple months ago (first time in my life) and it weren't nuttin' to celebrate. Thank goodness, it went away as mysteriously as it came. I self diagnosed it at BPPV.

Yes, Mike, our ranks are thin, but they're devoted. I've been cutting the grass every two weeks (when ground is dry enough) since late March or early April. Not much of a seasonal hiatus down here. It sure was nice with my newly sharpened blades this time. What a difference it makes.

Glad you found a place for the S.C., Inline.

Hope no phone calls en route, Jamesbo.

Have a great weekend, Olds pals.

Good evening. Yes i did got it, verified it today. And it was even cheap Place. Now i have all the time to build my own when i have Place for Cutlass until then. Old brick factory it is. There are countless amount of old brick factories on Finland, wonder why. Actually should investiage have we been big brick importer back in the days, i cant believe for the amount of brick factories that we used all of them; especially when bricks havent been used here that much on buildings.

Went to last official Lahti cruisings today with my S.C Was nice visit, lots of cars, lots of beauuutiful womens dressed to decade their car was from. Great evening.

Arrrgg! Damn Advance Auto, stopped there to get two quarts of Valvoline 10W30 for my riding mower, as it was in front of the Home Depot which was my next stop, anyways got charged $6.29 a quart! this is conventional oil, not synthetic, I can buy it at Meijer's or Wally World for 3.99 a quart. This also why I do most of my small parts purchases for my cars @ Rock Auto. I'll do an oil change on it tomorrow after the car show, I also ordered replacement blades online for 30 bucks for two, as opposed to $58 locally.

Hi everyone. Hope we're all enjoying the weekend. Well, except for Dan.

I won't go to Advance Auto, either. Went to get brake pads for the Cadillac, the guy talked me into ceramic pads. Cost a little more not much, threw the bag into the back seat and didn't get to the brakes for a few weeks. When I pulled them out saw that they were the regular pads. My fault for losing the receipt, but his fault for giving me the wrong pads. I actually think it was intentional. Besides that, it's a revolving door of people who never know what I'm talking about.

Beautiful out, a-gain. I'd say this is my favorite time of year, except I know what comes next. So I guess Spring is my favorite time of year.

Not much else. Work was good last night, no reason to think it won't be tonight. I know, anything is what you make of it.

Oh. Solved the starter problem on the new Cutlass. Thought maybe it was the battery going tango uniform so I popped the hood to give it a boost, and saw that the main part of the positive battery cable had come out of the terminal. The little wire was still connected, but no juice going to the starter. So a few minutes later it was back to working top notch. Saved myself about a buck fifty in new battery and starter, but if Year One is as proud of Cutlass battery cables as they are Valiant battery cables, I'll be out almost 300. Sheesh.

Okay off to work. Have a good night everyone.

Hi everyone.

Cloudy a little bit today. Hadn't heard that we were supposed to get rain, who knows. It's actually mild out.

Jamesbo why don't you try this. Go up to the mountains and plan on coming back the next day, probably no one would call then.

Dan Fusicks does indeed have the cables I need for the new Cutlass. And they seem like such a bargain at 46 and 59 bucks. Though as long as I'm buying cables for that car, I might as well get a set for the others as well, so that would be 4 sets all together. Hm.

Not much else. Was all set to get home early this morning and the lead called and wanted us to go do someone else's work in addition to ours(I was working with another guy). Oh and get wrapped up and paperwork done so we can all get out by 5. Well as it turns out, we didn't get back to the shop until after 5 and the paperwork took us almost till 6. Proving our point was for naught because another guy who is always slow was there the same time we were. So we could have gotten out early and still the lead would have had to stay. Oh well. We made sure he knew we weren't happy.

Okay time for night 3. Hope the week starts out good for everyone.
