Morning everyone.

Sandy should be in the midst by now, hope everything goes okay.

Good luck to you too, Jamesbo.

Long day yesterday. WTony is awesome. The hood was really nice, we got it over to my friend's house with no problems. The weather sucked when I got up there, snow, rain, sleet, all mixed in. By the time I got back to the airport in the afternoon the sun was out! Got to bed kinda late, and slept undisturbed until almost 10. Gonna go get the dogs and then see what's in store.

Sun's out and it looks nice. Don't know what the temp is supposed to be, but the sun makes it all okay. Got plenty to do, that's for sure. Gonna skip Awful house since it's almost lunch and all my friends will be gone anyway.

Hope everyone has a good day. Pray everyone has a good day.

Afternoon all... I'm home and very groggy. Larry went to get the Vicodin filled. I'm on the couch and plan on staying here lol.

Dr Smith said the tumor was pea sized. That's good. The 4 shots I had to have to inject the dye hurt like a bitch!!!!! I mean like really bad. I'll probably get a bill from Nuclear Medicine for a thousand bucks for that guy to inject those shots in less than 5 minutes lol. They did those at 8:20 so the dye would already be in when I went to surgery. He said the nodes were negative but he removed 3 for testing. He told me that I'll have to have radiation. He didn't mention that to Larry. Still gotta have chemo.
Im croaky as a frog. Throat is very sore and dry. Miserable. Had some ice cream and Larry is warming up some stew for me now.

I'm off work for a week. Have to see Dr Smith then. Im not to mess with these bandages at all. I'm so very thankful that I have the use of my arm! He didn't have to cut the muscle like he did the other one.

Well enough for now. Gotta eat my stew. Haven't eaten since 7 pm last night. Thank you guys soooooo much for everything. I love ya and appreciate you all! This was only the first step for me so I have a long ways to go and will need you!!! I'll talk later.

Hi peeps,
I guess no one wants to hear about the weather we're enjoying up here in AB. Too bad. It's a balmy 79° as I type this, a gentle breeze is blowing making it a wonderful evening. Steaks are grilling on the BBQ

and I've got a nice tall Rummencoke going next to me. The Captain and I are good friends with his cousin Jack Daniels so we tend to sail away on some very memorable voyages and go on some insane adventures....to places where you have NO fear of anything.

Tomorrow I'm gonna pull the ol fishin boat out of the back yard and head out to do some nice walleye fishing. I hear they're biting really good now.

Hope the mosquitos and flies aren't out. Usually at this time of year they tend to be a little dormant but with all this warm temp lately I think they'll be plenty of em smattering the front of the car and windshield.

This illusion has been brought to me by the letters BEER and the numbers 6, 12 and 24

Colder than a witches heart up here and more snow that it would take to kill a polar bear. Anyone who complains about a little cold down there hasn't lived the dream of the Great White North. I know Clint and a few others know what this is like and why I dream like I do....

Live long and Prosper

Allan, I'll have one... no a couple of whatever you're havin' that's make you think it's summer!

Sandy, hope you're feeling better soon.

Maybe someday we'll have to do up a list of who here has met who. Mike, looks like you just added one.

Frostbite warning in place here for the rest of the week. Maybe it'll be too cold to snow?

Evening everyone. Cold one here today around 30 and sunny. Certainly not 79, nice Allan. Send some of that this way!

Well, I went to the doctor and he put me on some meds, it seems to be helping me. Able to move around better but I certainly won't be running or playing tennis anytime soon. Thanks all for the well wishes, I really appreciate it.

Clint- hope your wife is feeling better too.

Sandy - sorry to hear it was a painful procedure but I am glad to hear it is a very small growth. Hope you're feeling better tomorrow.

Jamesbo - hope you're feeling better too. Seems like there's a lot of us hurting right now.

Well, have a good night Oldsmofriends.

Mornin all.

Darrell thanks. Shes been having breakfast on an inversion table which seems to be helping.

Sandy hope your throat is feeling better this morning. That stupid tube really sucks.

Paul stay warm,

Allan, I'm thinking you may want to check the furnace vent for blockage. Your delusions may be caused by too much carbon monoxide

Happy thursday all.

Morning, all.... A nippy 39* at the Plantation, and more like almost 50 here in NOLA. Glad at least the news wasn't all bad, Sandy. But that sounds like anything but fun & games. The intubation depends 95% on who puts it in and whether they use enough glycerine and care to not damage your vocal folds. A lot of folks are pretty rough and actually do permanent damage. But then, a lot of folks (yes, even in the medical profession) are idiots. (Sorry for the candor.)

Hope both therapies go as well as possible.... Maybe some of Allan's Captain Morgan w/ a spot of O.J. might be in order? Praying for a speedy recovery for you... and that goes for "the missus" and Jamesbo as well.

Have a safe return trip, Mike.

Cruisin' into the weekend now...

Y'all have a great Thursday, Oldsmofriends.

Morning everyone.

Cold here, too. About 34*. Looks like it will be a nice day, though.

Sandy glad things went well yesterday. Prayers that all the testing comes back good.

Clint does that mean she's been eating upside down?

Paul I've met 5 CO people now. Eight if you count spouses.

Adrian what's new over there? Heard GM is going to pull the plug on Holden in the next few years. Did Ford stop local production as well?

I'm going to hit the junkyard this morning after the Awful house. Might start up a burn pile this afternoon. I didn't get a durned thing done yesterday, but the dogs and I did play a lot.

Have a good day everyone.

Sandy I saw the good news on facebook and we shall keep up the thoughts and prayers for more good news

Jamesbo didcha get your heater hose fixed?

Morning All!

As Travis Tritt would say: It's a great day to be alive!!

The sun is out, which is just a wonderful thing! It's a balmy 11 degrees with wind chills in the single digits. Not gonna move up much today they said.

So I'm feeling some pain this morning, lol. Knew I would. Got some throbbing going on inside the boob and some pain up by the armpit. He didn't cut there, so it must be residual pain from where he cut below. This 'thing' they have wrapped around my chest is making me crazy. It's like a tube top with velcro. It keeps moving and is making me itch where it has hard pieces of plastic that are against my skin. Last time, they sent me home wrapped in compression bandages. Whatever, I guess.

I need some of what AllanR is having, lol. I like his delusions! Seriously, my spirits are very high today. That thing is out of me and can't grow anymore!!!! Take that, stupid cancer!!! My mom told me before that God doesn't give people cancer, That it is the work of the devil. So 'get thee behind me Satan' cause God and I are gonna win this battle!!!!

My throat is still sore as heck. Feels like they rubbed off all the skin in there. I've been eating throat drops since I woke up yesterday. I haven't taken any Vicodin today, I will if the pain gets bad. I hate taking things unless I have to.

Yep Darrell.... we're all falling to pieces, lol.

John... I agree with you..... I think the whole medical profession is made up of idiots! Except for Dr. Smith, lol. God has a special place for him.

Jamesbo..... don't you just love that metal taste from the radioactive dyes? Been there, done that several times. It's yucky!!!

I got all the cyber hugs you all are sending! Thanks so much. I won't even get a card or flowers or anything from my co workers. A$$es! I could use a beautiful flower arrangement with some white smell good lilies in it to cheer me up. I might have to drop a hint to Larry, lol. Nah, he doesn't need to be spending the money on something like that. Flowers cost way more than they need to.

I'm gonna finish decorating my tree today. I can do that without much exertion. Maybe I'll wrap a few things. I'm not gonna over do, that's for sure.

I'm gonna go get my hair colored and trimmed up this weekend. Katy works on Sunday, she said. I'm gonna go into whatever is coming at me next looking good and feeling good about myself. Cancer isn't gonna take that away from me!

Well I just wanted to check in. You all have a great day and stay warm!!!!

Sandy, gargle with warm salt water....as many times a day as you want ... nuttin' better for healing all that throat apparatus... try to get just a few drops to slip down to the "voice box."
Your high spirits are a breath of fresh air for all of us....

p.s.: Allan (speakin' of Paul Simon) --> my niece down here slid her Fusion off the road last week in the nasty rain mix and stopped against a utility pole; thank God she wasn't injured; but the $9,000 '03 Fusion (acc'd'g to Blue Book) got $5,000 damage and of course, they won't total it. I think they're actually going to have to fix the POS, which has really seen better days at 140k youth-driven miles to & from school. Anybody who'd pay 9 grand for that thing would have to be a loon ... what a waste of resources. It would be much better to scrap the thing and offer up its parts. But now, they're stuck with the thing.

So this is what purgatory is like huh? I guess when it comes time to plant me I can go straight to the clouds or furnace as I've done my time in between. After all this though I think it will likely be someplace hot, where all my friends will be.. It's still coming down, been steady all night and more all day today and tomorrow. That means I get to be Paul Simon of Edmonton today and tomorrow driving the wife to work. Figured out the connection yet? "Slip sliding away...." Thank God for winter ice radials. What I really need is twin 50 caliber machine guns on the hood to clear a path in front of me. Too many idiot drivers out there....

Clint - No sirree! No fumes in my abode. Got the whole thing cleaned in the fall. Just have a very vivid imagination. It helps a lot when I get shut in for periods of time.

Scot - Have I broke it in? I hope you don't mean just broke it... LOL funny thing is it wasn't properly assembled at the factory. Whoever put the wheels on didn't put the axle lock pin through the right holes on the axle and the snap ring/pin fell right off soon as the wheels made a full revolution. Other than re-pinning them properly it's been running like a champ. It throws snow a good 40' and it's had a few workouts. Thanks for the invite, I might take you up on that one of these days.

Paul - I can't believe you took your Cutlass out in the snow. Gutsy move bro! How come?

Well, no pics of the white stuff to share with ya, because I know it just upsets folks..

Good evening everyone.

Weather report: It's COLD!

I think I've met 6 other CO members so far.

Allan, a friend offered to help me install the 4-wheel disc brake kit. I took it over to his place back in early October, but then there was the whole being laid off, looking for work, doing tests and interviews for the job I ended up getting. And a few bumps along the way with the installation, made the installation take a lot longer than it should of. But I needed to get the car home somehow, and it was either drive it that day, or maybe tow it home on an open trailer in the snow! Luckily now the car is home and tucked away for the winter.

Sandy, take it easy! But do what you can, it is the holiday season!

Adrian, good to hear from you.

Darrell, good to hear you are feeling a little better.

Have a good Friday everyone.

I got a beef about shipping....

Sorry to bring up the topic of shipping, sort of. I've found USPS shipping rates have skyrocketed so much in the last 4 years it's getting stupid crazy to use them for a carrier when I buy parts.

On the other hand, if I use Fedex or UPS I get dinged with all kinds of extra fees including their brokerage and their excessive surcharges for delivery and fuel and the shipping sometimes is double the cost of the part

Can't use Greyhound to ship across a national border even though they transport people across so that's really screwed up.

Every shipper who offers drop shipping in the USA will not offer it in Canada.

NOW, CP (Canada Post) has decided to hike postage fees by 58%. So instead of mailing a letter for 63¢, in 2014 it will bump up to 1.00 per stamp. Plus they've decided to do away with home delivery within 5 years.

Someone on another thread recently told me how wrong I was about CP being such a profitable corporation while the USPS wasn't. This latest revelation on the news clearly indicates I was right all along. Somehow I suggest any of you that use USPS to ship stuff watch for a policy shift sometime soon that will mimick the 'recovery' effort by CP to regain profit margin. Bottom line is it's going to cost more than an arm and a leg to ship all those parts you need for a project in the new year.

I think you'll also see this reflected in the vendors who supply the majority of Olds parts. Some of them have already got insane shipping costs. It's going to get worse.

Ok, guess it's time to get offadasoapbox.

Alan, that is why I am combining Holidays and picking up Olds parts...I am tired of these charges, from initial shipping costs to brokerGe fees etc etc.
I will declare at border and pay the tax if I have to.And, meet some folks on here......

I can't speak for you guys North of the border but I can relate to rising prices EVERYWHERE and the economy isn't getting any better nor is the pay for the common working man I see raising rates in today's economy is sabotage. Folks are used to splurging but if it isn't a necessity, I see people shopping around for better rates and ultimately making the greedy businesses loose profits in the long run. Eventually they will have to cull the fat and more times than not instead of the upper levels taking a pay cut, they will reduce the working force and ultimately slow progress and quality of service along the way.

Blame the ones with their hands in our pockets...

Mornin', all... 'Twas 32* at the Plantation, but spose to get back up to mid-60s today. No wet stuff expected until tomorrow, when it will be more o'the same.

Spose to go out to eat this afternoon w/ a friend whose last day at work is today. Hopin' to find some good Gulf oysters on the half shell to slurp back. Then it's go visit the "girls" (my 2 elderly aunts) and perhaps wind up at the nursing home to see #3. It'll be a long day, but at least I get out of the salt mine at 2. Then it's one more 3-day workweek in Dec., and 4 2-day weeks in Jan., then it's to the soup lines (if private health insurance rates now are any indication ).

Jamesbo, sorry the mountain reverie had to be interrupted. I'm looking forward to some reverie of my own real soon...

Darrell, get better soon.... I had my tennis racket in hand to fly up to N.Y. to play a game w/ you, but I guess I'd better cancel that....

Have a great TGIF and weekend, Oldsmomates.

Mornin all.

John, glad to hear the niece escaped unscathed. Blue book prices are all over the board. I just sold an 03 Impreza OB sport. KBB had a clean retail listed at $3600, and NADA was at $5695. Mine was the cheapest on Craigslist for $5700 and the most expensive on CL was $10900. But to be fair that one had 110K miles on it whereas mine had 149k .

Scot, on your economy rant I say 'Amen' Hopefully thats not too religious.
I can't believe they don't include gas prices or food prices when calculating inflation. What do they think us poor folk spend most of our money on. O Ya... Beer.

Paul, let us know when it warms up.

Allan, you think ol St. Nick could pass a background check for those 50 cal's? Why is it a can't have a .22lr without a background check, but its perfectly legal to own a flamethrower?

Sandy, its great to hear you sound so chipper. Keep it up lady.

Mike, No, probably hangs around a while after she eats. I think the repetitious movement of breaking ice out of the water buckets during this cold snap really irritated her lower back. I did something that made my separated shoulder pretty unhappy. Not sure how its gonna feel racing on Sunday.

Have a great weekend all.

Morning All!

The sun is shining through the living room window and right on me as I sit here on the couch. I'm lovin it! It's warmer this morning then yesterday, it's a whopping 21 degrees now!! The warm up before the snow. We're supposed to get dumped on tonight and tomorrow, then lake effect on Sunday. Nicole has been talking about goin to her 'friends' down in Columbus Saturday and I'm trying to talk her out of it. They will get the snow before it hits here, and 6 - 9 inches is what they're calling for. I really hate to worry about her out in that much snow. Of course I just worry too much according to her.....

Larry put the new rotors and brakes on the Intrigue last weekend - her Christmas present from him - but the thing could use tires too, which I planned on getting along with new rims, but that's put on hold right now. Gotta watch the money. Got Dr. Smith's bill for the Ultrasound and the biopsy... over $1300. And they're just starting.......

I have to call him this morning - my throat is on fire!!! Feels like strep. I gargled yesterday through out the day with warm salt water, but overnight it just got worse. I can hardly swallow this morning. I expected a sore throat for a day or so, but this is bad.

I got my little tree all decorated yesterday and some gifts put in to boxes. I'm gonna wrap them today. Got a little throbbing still going on, but nothing I can't handle. I took 2 Vicodin last night about 9 pm. They make me feel strange.... I can take the bandages off today my instructions say. I'm afraid to look, lol. The incision I can see where he took the nodes out is ugly enough, lol. All sorts of purple and red and blue colors. Still painted orange too from that stuff they put on you before surgery. I'm still trying to figure out how I can wear a bra?? Woman issues, lol. Guess I'll be checking out sports bras or exercise tops and see if I can wear one of those.

Scot..... rant away, bud! I totally agree. We can't afford anything anymore, and it sucks! It used to be work to live, but now we have to live to work! Can't get ahead. Can't think about retiring or taking vacations or anything. Just work and pay taxes and get deeper in the hole. It's a shame.

I'm gonna make Larry some almond cookies today. Never tried them before, but looks like a sugar cookie recipie using almond extract instead of vanilla, so it shouldn't be too hard. I'm liking having the time off work to do this stuff instead of rushing around like I usually do, but this is not the way I would prefer to have the time off work, lol.

Well I better get cleaned up and dressed and get the day started. You all have a good Friday the 13th!!!

Hmmm, now you got me interested in a new snow clearing method. Either that or a new style hood ornament - ya, that's the ticket. A Sonata that shoots flames at dumbarses that won't git out of the way.... I LIKE IT!!

Happy Friday everyone.

Flame thrower as a hood ornament? Awesome! I often wonder how well one of those super soaker guns would work with brake fluid in it.

Sandy glad you're still somewhat mobile. When are you going to hear the results of all the tests? Hope your throat starts feeling better. A sore throat is the worst.

Scot, what did you find out on the job lead?

John how were the girls?

Jamesbo you moving?

I've given up trying to keep up with what the economy is doing. I try to get by best I can. I know that makes me part of the problem. More people need to be abreast of what is going on.

Okay time for work. It's Monday. Hope everyone enjoys the weekend.

Evening everyone. Happy Friday the 13th! Well, starting to feel a little better today, more or less moving around again. Can't really stand for too long but as long as I don't push it, I'm not in too much pain. Hope to be back at work on Monday.

John - come on up, hopefully I may be able to do that again in about a week or so. Even if we couldn't hit, we can at least hang out in the garage with a beer and talk about Oldsmobiles. However, with our weather right now, don't think you'll be happy to be here.

Scot - I understand exactly what you're saying. Nothing is getting cheaper and people's salaries are rarely heading in the right direction these days. I am not even covering my bills that my business is generating let alone putting anything in my pocket.

Sandy - hope you're feeling better. I know what your talking about with the medical bills, especially when my grandmother went through her surgery/treatments they were unbelievable. The only good thing I could say was, they would work with her when she told them that she did not have the money. Many of her bills were cut in half, if not more. Maybe you could ask them for relief too.

Well, have a good night Oldsmofriends.

If ya had to stop, push in de clutch and drop it into 1st gear, It would slow down alot of this rush'in round.

Hi everyone.

Gloomy, rainy day here. Good day for sleeping. The dogs only wanted to get up one time, around noon, so it was a good day. Don't know when the rain is supposed to end but I hope it's soon.

Jamesbo, a warehouse? You know I need a warehouse why didn't you tell me you had one. I would journey to it on the weekends and live there like I was on vacation.

Speaking of gas mileage, the Fiat when I first got it got 46mpg. That's close to a Jetta diesel. Now, two years and 18K miles later it gets high 30s. The only think I can figure is it doesn't like driving 80 on the highway. Heck, most cars get 30+mpg these days, I might as well get something that's a little bigger. Hm.

Sandy hope things are going well. Are you going back to work next week? Here is your opportunity. Whatever happens in the office that you don't like, tell them the doctor said you can't have any of it. Brian talks too much? Tell him the doctor won't allow it. Furnace too hot? The doctor says stay cool.

Darrell hope you're feeling better. I can't play tennis on a good day.

Okay time for work. The dogs want to go out and I need to finish getting ready. Last night wasn't too bad, hope tonight follows suit. Have a good night everyone.

Evening All!

We've had snow all day today and it's still coming down. It stopped for a few hours around 5, but started again. We probably have 6 inches or so. Temps have been in the 30's, so it's not been overly cold. Tomorrow we're supposed to get more, 1 - 3 inches or more, and temps in the 20's and windy. Next Friday it's supposed to be in the 40's! Winter sucks....

We went and did our usual shopping last night. I was tired and sore. I bought some sports bras (I know you're really interested in this, lol ) I've never worn one before, and I gotta say I'm not crazy about them! They just mush down everything, lol. Guess that's what ya want if you're jogging. I took off that tight stretchy tube top they put on me after the surgery, yesterday. It felt soooo good to be out of that thing and to be able to scratch where it was digging in to my back! Tonight I took a bath. I tried to be careful of the sutures. I'm bruised all sorts of blue and purple and yellow. It's sure not a pretty sight. Gonna be worse though in the future if I get my way!!!

My friends Pam and Criss (with the Buick GS) came by yesterday afternoon and visited awhile. They brought me some pretty flowers. Really cheered me up! She brought me some of her sports bras and stretchy tops, but they didn't fit. That was nice of her. They're good people.

I'll be going back to work next Thursday. I see Dr. Smith next Tuesday and hopefully he'll have more info for me. I know he's thinking I don't need the bi-lateral mastectomy, but that's what I want to do.

My throat feels a little better today. I bought some of that spray throat stuff and have been using that. Tomorrow I want Nicole to take me to the hair place so I can get my hair trimmed and colored. I'm gonna go in to this thing feeling as pretty as I can, lol. Jr. is having Elyse's b'day party tomorrow at 1:00, but I probably won't be out of the hair place in time to go.

I got all the wrapping finished today. I want to get the sugar cookies iced tomorrow too, and then get them all sorted and packed up for everyone.

Maybe we'll win this 550 million dollar mega lottery tonight.... that would be a helluva Christmas present!! Larry bought our tickets earlier.

Larry wanted me to ask if you all know anything about that electro static stuff that's supposed to prevent rust on vehicles? Seems to me I read a thread on here somewhere about it once....

Well I'm tired, so I guess I'm gonna go to bed. Talk to ya tomorrow.
