A few years back, my club hosted an NCAA tournament. Some poor soul pulled a shot on into some natural area [read big weeds] Couldn't find his ball and took the penalty. The next day he does the same thing on the same hole. This time he finds his ball from the previous day. and again, took the penalty. He must have Bobby Jones honesty. The only time I have played range ***** was right before the Amex tournament when they were getting the ruff ready for the pros. It was 5 inches deep and You could NEVER find your ball During the tournament they had spotters with surveying flags to stick in the ruff so the pros could find their *****.
Bill (who resides on Sullivan's Island) stopped by the Charleston Country Club when I was Marshal Hole Captain on #7 during the U.S. Women's Open (2017) - what a card (still).
Hi guys,
Pretty day with bright sunshine, but still only 43° at 3pm, that's probably a good 20° lower than it should be this time of year. Supposed to get down to around 23° tonight, that's way to damn cold. Got our sprinkler system blown out this morning, barely under the wire before the hard freeze.
Some folks came to look at the dining room set I posted pics of a couple days ago, but unfortunately they decided not to take it. They said it was a little too rustic for them. Wife was a little bummed, it's the first time someone has come to look at something and decided they didn't want it.
80°F, mild wind, smacked the ball well. Baked, in closed glass oven container, a couple fat 4" thick pork loins two hours @ 200°F. A couple baked spuds & garlic bread to put it altogether. Shiznitz.
Chris, did you get a letter from Hyundai, asking you to schedule an appointment for a wax underbody, rust preventative application (free)? They address rust issues where salt is used on the roads. Not sure if that applies to your neck of the woods. This sounds like the treatment that I believe John mentioned that Toyota does to their new vehicles.

I want to trade weather please! Dinner sounds great, I love Pork Loins. My wife wraps them with bacon like beef filets, Ummmmm!

Dan, yes I did. Have to admit I didn't read it real close. Shame to admit I still have 2 recalls/dealer mods I need to have addressed in addition to the undercoating, the brake module/switch and the modified anti-theft software. We are seriously looking to unload the car in the near term. We've been looking online at other SUVs, but haven't actually went to look at any in person and test drive them to see if they meet our needs. We'd like to get something with at least as much cargo room with the rear seat folded down, and we definitely want something with AWD. Only taking looks and price into account, we both like the new Broncos and the RAV4's. I really like the looks of the new Broncos, but the RAV4 would probably be the smarter choice. We really need to get out and test drive some before the weather gets any worse. Our Sante Fe only has 44K-miles on it but I'm sure we wouldn't get $hit for a trade-in, that's another factor to add to the equation.
BTW - I'm watching the Lions game and those helmets are God awful!!!!

I am deeply concerned that the automakers are being politically pushed into battery electric, fuel cell electric, plug in hybrid, and normal hybrid vehicles. I think pure gasoline vehicles are starting to fall off the lineups. You gents that are in your seventies and looking for your potentially last good daily driver, and don't want to mess with hybrids, keep an eye on availability and maybe purchase sooner rather than later.
Toyota is pursuing all five of those mentioned above, but other companies are going whole hog on just batteries.
My clutch is on the way out on my Tacoma. Master cylinder. I bought some time by backing the clevis out, but am starting to lose a little function again.
Well I'm well into my first week back at work. Things are mostly the same. A couple new people, a couple people left, nothing earth-shattering. Getting up at 0345 seems like a major insult.
Every morning I take Tiger over to Mom's and he stays there for the day. This morning the truck cranked up slow, and at Mom's acted like it was dead. So I took the SRX to work. I guess I get to buy a new battery this afternoon. I'm trying to remember when I got this one, it's been a few years.
I went to ebay yesterday and ordered tires, tubes, straps for my bicycle. Oddly enough not available at Walmart. Seems my bike(1977 Schwinn Collegiate) even though they made tons of them, is an odd size these days, and there's only one company making the tire I need. I kept seeing words like ancient and vintage, and it threw me. I bought the bike new and it's just my bike. I finally realized it's 46 years old. I suppose that's vintage.
Both neighborhoods survived Halloween this year. Very few kids out, didn't see any in my neighborhood. That's just fine. Come to think of it, I didn't seen any carved pumpkins. And that means no carved pumpkins smashed in the street.
Mike - I'm sure being back at the grind is a rude awakening! I never enjoyed going back even if I had only been away a week or two. Hope all that is wrong with the truck is a weak battery.
Youngest daughter brought her 2 boys (Gabe and Keegan) by before they went trick or treating. The boys at our house. My wife is about 5' 5" and Gabe has almost caught her and he just turned 10. Keegan is 5 and he is very tall for his age too. The kids at my Ex's house. L-R, Gabe, Ollie, who's also 5 and only 5-months younger than Keegan to his right, and Anna.
We didn't go to my step-daughter's house to trick or treat with her two girls like we had planned. We had a Halloween trick of our own that had to be dealt with. My wife came home around 1pm from her weekly cleaning of her friend's home down the street. Then she found we had a Rice Weevil infestation in our pantry. Gross!!!! I've never had any type of bug infestation in my home and I can tell you it really creeps me out!!!! My wife keeps everything very clean and keeps most opened grains in air tight containers, but we think these came in from the store in a container of corn meal because that's where the greatest concentration was. Unfortunately they had moved on to other grain type items before we found them. They can chew through cardboard, paper, and even thin plastic bags. We had to throw out anything that was open and alot of $'s went in the trash. What a F'ing mess. At least they seemed to be only in the pantry. Definitely not a fun way to spend Halloween!

Colder than a witch's tit this morning, there was actually frost on the pickup truck. Funny how it's supposed to be back in the 70s this weekend.
So the pickup was a non-issue. It has this habit of loosening the negative battery cable. Usually when this happens it does fine and then all of a sudden you turn the key and click, everything goes dead. This time, It turned a couple times and sort of faded out. I carry a 5/16 wrench in the truck, so I loosened the terminal, shook it around a little and let it find its own place, then tightened it down. Started right up. Also, I looked up when I bought the battery, it was last October. I sure don't remember it being that close.
Nice Halloween pictures Chris. I think the scariest character in that top picture is second from the left, hardy har. Next up, Christmas.
Mike - Glad for the non-issue. I've had the same issue several times throughout my lifetime on various pieces of machinery - lawn mowers is a biggie, motorcycles, cars, tractors, etc.
I remember that being a issue too , Mike. I had to buy a battery late at night one time because the side post part came completely out. I think all manufacturers have went back to top post style now. I also think they have a better seal or type of construction, I remember having to clean corrosion-(white flaky stuff) off battery post frequently, seems like no longer a problem.
-- Had some neighbors over on Halloween. We all watched the original 1931 Frankenstein movie then played cards. The movie was a hit! They all first said they had seen it before, but I don't think they had. Good times!
I didn't forget, Norm, Thanksgiving is a non-event. Sure a couple of grocery stores will advertise to buy a turkey or the fixin's, but there's no hoopla, no big push to celebrate Thanksgiving. Christmas has been in the stores for weeks. Thanksgiving is but a blip on the radar.
And that's too bad. The whole idea of Thanksgiving, the history, the importance of it all, it's a shame we don't pay more attention to it. If it wasn't only a month to Christmas I think it would be a bigger deal.
Greg I've had more trouble with side post batteries. And I'm not real fond of the top posts, either. Since I buy mostly old stuff and wrecks, the nuts are usually mangled, and the terminal beat to death and will no longer clamp correctly. At this point, why can't the car makers come up with a positive connect/quick release battery.
Here over an hour and I have four wheels signed. The lead gave us a pep talk. Like each other and we will work better together. Hm. I think that's part of the problem. These guys are all buddies and they want to stand around and talk instead of working.
The dirt-bag farm family won't maintain their drainage ditch behind my property so I've been attending to it the past week. I've removed roughly 20-25 yards of greenbrier, bramble & smaller limbs thus far. Pisses me off when people don't give two ***** - scum bags is what they are. I fired up the 18" Husqvarna chainsaw and cut down several smaller trees. The chainsaw needs the carburetor adjusted. Couldn't find my 2-cycle carburetor adjustment tool (F-21 spline screwdriver) so I ordered a new one from Amazon which will arrive tomorrow. In the meantime, I'll continue clearing/cleaning the ditch. Tad nipply this morning esp. w/ the 15 mph wind.
Chris, Nice looking family. Halloween always reminds me of my bride axing a friend of mine's grandson in the mountains What are you going to go trick or treating as ? His answer was Jake from State Farm
we had a mad scientist and a pull together whatever you can find
I don't care about Columbus Day, President's Day, MLK Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, Juneteenth, New Year's, nor Halloween (with maybe the exception of making kids happy with candy.)
I value Christmas and Good Friday and Easter for my Lord and Savior, and I value Independence Day, Patriots' Day, and Memorial Day for what our country once was. I find my valuing of Veterans' Day slipping
as I don't approve of the direction our country and our military are going.

Thanks Jim, I am blessed with great kids and grandkids for sure! Very cute little girl in the photo, hope she had fun trick or treating!

I value and enjoy the same one's you do, but I also continue to enjoy Thanksgiving and Halloween. I think I still enjoy Thanksgiving and Halloween because of the memories they bring back of time spent with my family when I was young. My parents made those days special for us kids, and my kids are making them special times for their kids, which I love to see.
We had a bit of snow on halloween. Lost power from tues through last night until 8:45pm when it came back on. Temp never fell below 58° in the house. Damn near collected an idiot in her Equinox, as she decided that the four way stop that went into effect with the traffic light out, didn't apply to her. The sh!theaded drivers were out in force, that's for sure, as they were piling up all over the damn place between my workplace and my house. Chris, my buddy with his Santa Fe told the Subaru dealer about the problems with his car, when trading it in, and they didn't seemed to be that concerned about it. but, he didn't say what they gave him on trade either. The pics of your grandkids look pretty good. Jim, is that the same grandaughter that you were giving cooking lessons to? Nice pic.
Dan - Norm's right, pretty picture! Looks like it was one of those very wet heavy snows. I talked to my Sis on Halloween and she said they had snow in Battle Creek also.
I was here at work at 4 this morning. The lead gave us an ambiguous story yesterday about coming in early, leaving early, going to the Veteran's Day celebration in the hangar, blah blah. It was all convoluted. He didn't say we had to come in early, but I didn't want to get caught in the trap of having to stay when everyone else leaves. I didn't think 2:15 even existed anymore.
Kenneth that looks wonderful. It's been high in the 50s here the last few days, but sunny. I might have said before that I was on the list to transfer to Phoenix years ago. It was during a layoff period and they said if we were awarded a transfer and didn't go, we were fired. Well, I was poor and had an old dog and a few cars, and word was they were giving the transferee's two weeks to get to where they were going. No way I could make a move in two weeks, so I took my name off the list. Always kind of regretted it.
That's the only time snow is pretty, in a picture. But that is a nice picture. You're very talented, Dan.
We really got rolling this morning. I guess the threat of getting out early always works. I'm gonna stay a little while. The big hangar is going to have some military planes and trucks on display. It's always a big time.
Still chilly, 32° at 0630, but supposed to get up into the 60's with sunshine. Beautiful Fall weather!
Kenneth - Hope you get some cooler weather soon!
Mike - Your going to work early is like going in the middle of the night! I used to leave for work at 5:15 every morning, not even close to your early schedule!
Jim - Safe travels north, enjoy your time at the lake.
Well, it's supposed to be in the mid to high-60's Saturday and Sunday, with a low chance of rain. It will be the last hurrah for car events. There is a judged show tomorrow at the School where my youngest daughter's kids go, only about 5-miles down the road from me. Then there is a judged show on Sunday about 20-miles from me. I am planning on going to both.
Chris, the problem with that snow besides being wet and heavy, was the fact that leaves were still on the trees, adding to the weight. There were reports of electricity being restored, only to lose it again due to more branches or trees coming down. We had 8.8" officially here, but there were areas in this county, and Oceana getting 11". Mike, thanks for the compliment.

Dan - I believe it! My Sister said they had about 4 or 5" in Battle Creek. At my old house our power lines came in from the main road thru a very forested area. We once had a horrible ice storm about this time of year and our power was out for 5-days. We were on a smaller grid and one of the last areas the power company got to. Luckily, I had a large generator at the time and was able to keep the refrigerator and deep freeze going, and a couple space heaters going to keep pipes from freezing. My Ex and kids went to stay with her sister because we had no water because we were on well water.
Ya know, for a $7.00 screwdriver/tool (P-21 spline) I was like a kid on Christmas morning when it arrived at my house after my golf game and return from the grocery store. I immediately headed to the Husqvarna 455 chainsaw to check its fit (perfect) then evaluate the L & H settings. They were COMPLETELY out of whack. Who could have done such a thing (I wonder)? Yours truly that's who. No wonder it's running like 💩
Can't wait until morning to reset the carburetor A/F mixtures for L & H.
