NEAT Youtube Video (Gotta watch!)

Would somebody please (as in pretty please) post a video of my '69 W31 shakedown practice at Capitol Raceway. If I knew how, I would, but as many of you know I'm kinda computer illiterate! Anyway, just Google "David Siltman Nostalgia" and it should pop up. I made a VERY easy run; left the line at 4500rpm and "granny shifted" at 4500rpm. Thanks in advance and I hope you all enjoy!!!! P.S. I'll be getting a little more serious at the Nostalgia Races on June 11 at Cecil County, MD. Thanks again. Until next time..... Dave.

Yeah kinda soft launch. I like the accidental wheelie you did just out of the bleach box-

First of all---A BIG thanks for posting---I MUST enhance my limited computer skills! The E.T. was 13.31 and the m.p.h. was 101.10. I left the set-up "SOFT" on purpose. The exhaust was still on, the slicks were at 15 (instaed of @7-8), the air bags were also set high at 20 (instead of 7 and 17), and the timing and carb were in full street tune. Remember--this car is tagged, insured and street driven. That was the first time out with the new drivetrain and honestly, I had not driven on the drag strip in more than 20 years. We built the car to run 12.00-12.20 and I'm confident in saying there is A LOT more left in that car. In 1969-1970 the car ran a best of 12.53 in legal F/S trim and that's knida what I wanted to do this time around. Other than a 1970 W31 aluminum intake, a more modern cam, and 9" (instead of 7") slicks not much else is different. 350 Olds, M21, 4:33-----Back in the day the car was run with 4:66 and 5:00 gears---I might add some more gear, but in reality, I will say this----I'm pretty much out to have fun; not devote myself to drag racing like I did 25 years ago. Thanks for the interest. Until next time..... Dave.

Nice, was it Dave Stilman track day? There was no one there. I would pay good money for that. Round here you get maybe three runs in on a test and tune night.

good job dave, that engine sounds real strong, is that the 69 with the canadian alternator bracket? it came off an old drag car. love the sound of a 4 speed sorting through the gears. what are you running for mufflers?

We rented the track for the day. The cost was minimal (I thought) if 10 racers are eager and willing to spend $120.00. The surface wasn't prepped that well, but for what I wanted to accomplish it was adequate. Yea Stan, those are the brackets, I've since kinda sorta started a collection---I think I have three sets now, however I am in the process of doing a frame-off on a 1972 (small block, 4-speed, 12 bolt---what else) that will use a set. As for mufflers, they are an off-brand of Flow Master equivalent through 2 1/4" pipes with turn-downs just before the rear end housing (for ease of removal). Until next time.... Dave.
