I got this call from a friend of a friend two evenings ago that my neighbor was stuck down a 4x4 road below my property, seems my neighbor had taken her friend on this adventure to do a little gold mining. Her boyfriend is short one foot (recent amputee) and is in a wheelchair, and it gets worse from here. They are stuck at the bottom of what I call the Rubicon in a two-wheel drive Dodge Dakota pickup, sideways in the road, nose in the brush, *** near a drop-off of about 30 feet. I'm in my Durango 4x4 but it is no place for this long of a truck and my ability to walk on this terrain is nonexistent, ground is very steep and narrow with 4 to 8 inch cobbles. I get them pointed in the right direction by dragging them sideways with all of my chains and straps but only make it a couple of hundred yards till I hit a hairpin turn and there is no going farther with this setup, need better 4x4's or a tractor. I am almost useless on this terrain with my shot legs and the amputee has to crawl from my friend's truck to mine on his hands and knees. If this sounds bad it was worse.

I got them out and delivered to her house, her truck is still stuck at the hair pin. The next day I got on the phone to my other neighbors and we mustered up another 4x4 but still couldn't get past the hairpin. It took a fore wheel drive backhoe and most of the day to get that truck out. I don't know why people think they can take a 2 wheel drive truck on 4x4 roads, today is a day of rest.... Tedd

Good for helping them out like that. Sounds like it definitely wasn't a good decision at all. They are lucky it turned out as good as it did. Good job. 👍

You all know I sold my FJ 40 a while ago and boy I sure could have used it yesterday. It was set up for this kind of trouble, 8 thousand LB winch, grave digger tires, extra low gears, lifted and running on a 295 HPSB 327. It was a great rig, but it would go places that I no longer walk out of if I got stuck or broke something. Sellers remorse...Tedd
