My computer has been hi jacked

Yesterday my computer started to act strange, seems this search engine Conduit has replaced or gotten in front of Internet Explorer. Everything has slowed to a crawl, ,I have to reset all my logins, tons of popups It's a mess.Does anyone know how to delete this POS. Also could this cause harm to anyone on the board by me posting this question on this computer? I'm using Monzallia as I type this......Thanks ....Tedd

First download CCCleaner from piroform.com, then malwarebytes. Go to tools and delete all your browsing history, etc... Start CCCleaner and under the windows tab click everything except wipe free space. Then under the applications tab click everything and then hit the run button. It may take a while as you pobably have a pile of crap in there. Some people don't like running the registry cleaner but I use it all the time and it seems to keep it running fine. So I'd cleanup the registry.

After this has run, open malwarenytes and run a full scan. It will take about an hour or so.

Both of these programs are safe and very easy to use.

What he said, plus you can probably increase your firewall settings to a higher level to help prevent intrusions. What brand of Virus Protection are you using. There is a free one called AVG that is very good, and best of all, FREE. Search for AVG FREE in your browser and you will find several links to it. AVG will try to get you to purchase a version, but just keep choosing the free one......... good luck!

AVG sux, I actually use Microsoft Security Essentials and have been for a great number of years. I look at all kinds of stuff on the internet and have yet to have any issues. AVG like Norton willl slow your system down and it's unreliable.

Second, never use Explorer again.

Stick with Mozilla, Chrome, Safari, or Opera.

Oh, and consider getting a Mac .

I strongly disagree. Norton is crap, but AVG is one of the highest rated Anti-Virus programs around............ I have it on 4 machines, and they all run very fast..........

I don't know, all the experience I've had with AVG was having to remove it because it didn't work properly on the laptops at work. The microsoft security essentials that I installed on all those laptops and my personal pc's has worked flawlessly.

We all have favorites.

I quit using AVG a couple of years ago, as it couldn't quarantine a malware that got into my computer, switched to Essentials on advice from a PC repair shop, and have been doing fine ever since.

faster, more secure and compatible with more sites.

Plus with chrome, if you download the adblock extension it stops the silly adds before youtube videos and stops popups.

Also has a neat incognito browsing mode which doesnt save your browsing data or cookies. Very useful if you are buying the wife a gift and you dont want her to go through the internet history and ruin the surprise. Probably has other uses but dont know what they are. Just my 2c

Google tracks and sells your info. All the bowser a "private browsing mode". I've tried them all, I still use IE with virtually no issues with the exception of the amount of space it requires is you don't clean your pc often. It boils down to preference.
