Marines Take Back the Flag
#4
Naaah. I believe that being an a____le is protected as free speech, so I don't think roughing them up is right.
Taking the flag back, like they did in the video, is just fine, because, as far as I'm concerned, that's the Marine and the soldier expressing their own free speech, but, as they say, my right to swing my fist ends at the tip of your nose.
They did exactly the right thing there, and made their point without being a____les themselves.
Frankly, I think they exercised admirable restraint, because I know what they'd like to have done...

The problem with "enlightened society" and its rules is that most people cannot be decent on their own without external stimulus. Thus, the whole "you have a right to be a jerk" results in a lot of jerks. It would be cool if they would not be jerks, but some people just choose to do that. I was hoping that hippy in the "I want to be a Tibetan" rig would start something, but it didn't happen. It is truly a sad thing that generations of prosperity make the new generations unappreciative of the work that it took to get there. Bad times make good people, as the axiom goes, and I think the reverse is also true.

I believe that the two young men who retrieved our National Ensign did their civic duty. We are implored to treat the flag with respect and dignity and I believe by extended logic to prevent anything to the contrary happening to it. Behaving with restraint and honor was a good way to act. Saving the National Ensign and also treating others with respect was admirable.

LOL at work.
That was great.
Didn't look like there was a whole crowd that wanted to fight him, though .
I am absolutely in favor of pulling that flag down like he did.
This is not a case of a lone a_____e expressing an opinion I disagree with. This is a case of flying the flag of a foreign power on a building that is not an embassy, and it's illegal and a direct insult to me as an American.
If he wants to claim his bar as sovereign Mexican territory, then he needs to be prepared to meet a military force appropriate to repel an invasion.
I would add that, as a self-proclaimed representative of an invading foreign power, he runs the risk of getting shot, so a punch in the nose would be getting off easy.
That kind of crap really ticks me off.

I am of a mexican background but I will never fly a mexican flag infront of my house. The stars and stripes fly proud in front of my house and my fiances grandfathers casket flag greets you as you walk in the door. I really struck a nerve with fellow friends on facebook when I said that only an american flag should be hanging outside their house or usmc or pow mia flag. Not only mexican flags but irish and polish etc etc. I live in chicago and I see the polish, irish , mexican ,italian flag everywhere. Its ok to be proud of where you are from but go fly an american flag in mexico and see how that goes. Or go fly an american flag in france or italy it will be the same scenario. I also find it contradicting that these protestors are saying down with american which is the country that gives them the freedom to complain like that . I think people take it for granted the freedoms our military men and women fight for.
