Ummmm just not going there....and people wonder why my musical appreciation stopped in the early 70's.

Don't know about you, but my musical appreciation stopped in the early 70s because of disco. My car appreciation stopped then too, by the way.

Full disclosure: I actually have one Ramones song on my playlist (Rock and Roll High School). Any song with the lyrics "Cruisin' around in my GTO" makes the cut.

My car appreciation stopped in 72. There has not been many noteworthy cars for me since then, I bet I can't come up with a dozen in the last 35 years.

my 2 cents

Who's Lady Gaga? I prefer music to that crap.

Give me SRV, Eric Clapton, Johnny Winter, JJ Cale, The Fabulous Thunderbirds or the Allman Brothers Band over that crap. Johnny Cash, Merl Haggard & Waylon Jennings made music not that noise her fans seem to enjoy. I just do not understand the attraction to performers like Lady Gag-me.

There were still some good cars built after 1972. The 1973 HO & 442 especialy in V code form & the 73-76 F body Pontiacs especially the SD & HO cars come to mind. A 1973 Stage 1 GS is faster than most 71-72 442s & I would sure park one in my garage.

I can't stand much of anything new, Cars or music. I love country music from the early 60s to mid 80s. We need a thread for people to post there favorite old song.

as much as a agree with hot rods going cold with the addition of egr valves, air pumps, energy bumpers & catalytic perverters. My 370 Z with the Stillen Intake, Exhaust & up rev makes drivin home from the office oh so joyful. As far as music good music went underground with disco but it's still there, you have to dig deep. Theres a couple of kids from Perth, Australia using analog stuff sounding really fresh....Tame Impala....you'll never hear it on terrestrial radio. I still play records on my tube amplifier & home made speakers. The way rock & roll was meant to be.

you guys are showing your age Some of her stuff is great, listen to her lyrics.

Music and cars are the same, I think the older we get the more appreciation we have for what "was" but really there is some great music now and some great cars as well.

Don't know what that thang is. If its on Lady Gag Ya I really do not care. I used to think Madonna could not be out done. Cher started this crap and she was big in "72". It didn't float my boat then either. As for the cars. I can remember the old timers talking about the 409's and 413's and 421's when I thought the only performance could come from 426's, 454's 455's and 428's. I guess the new factory hot rods like the Roush Mustang, Viper V 10's and Hemi 6.1's and Corvette Z06's think the same about us.

I have to admit there are about 3 songs of hers I actually like, but that is where it all ends. I think her vids stink and she presents herself poorly, but that is whats 'in' now.
I prefer the 60s. 70s, and 80s...

I agree with you guys 100%. Herb Alpert was a guest on a New England radio show a couple years ago. He talked about his ownership in A&M Records, the Whipped Cream album, regretting letting Waylon Jennings go from his contract in 1969, etc.
Howie Carr mention Lady Gaga, to Mr.Alpert , you could of heard a pin drop.
In a heart beat, Herb Alpert said "she has NO TALENT WHAT SO EVER"!

Two to three years ago, Lady Gaga herself was in Portland, Maine (same city where Howie Carr was born), promoting/endorsing gay marriage.

I am a huge fan of Herb Alpert, have many of his LPs and even a few CDs

I'm sure she is not the "musician" he is but the folks around her and her song writing make her above many now a days

Wow, I forgot about that, funny that song is even more relevant today with all the kids texting each other instead of speaking.

agreed. and madonna did most of it too, back in her day. this brings to mind the "machine gun boobies" from the austin powers movie.

in any event gagya, goo goo, gaga, is just another pop singer using weird $hyt to get her songs over. a couple of them i find catchy, but i won't even download them for free.

Good for her
Herb Alpert and the TB RULES! I have three of his LP albums.
I would to see him in one of the future L.L. BEAN Summer Concert !

As for the blonde big mouth, if she is so supportive of gay/equally marriage, how come she has no t used her own money to throw a big bash for some poor folks?

I can honestly say that I would not know a lady gaga song from a lady Godiva song, nor would I know what she looks like.

Aha! Chris, now we know you listen to Gaga! Actually, I have always been partial to 60's straight through to today's music (delete the Disco crap though, and anything Michael Jackson after he grew up). That said, there is plenty of crap that is new, just like there is plenty of crap through the ages.
(Think I am stuck on the word "crap", sorry). I actually like a few of her songs (getting back to Lady Gaga) that are catchy even though she is definitely visually over the top. I don't buy any songs... There are enough stations with different eras being played on Wifi that you can hear anything for free today.

+1 on the Ramones... definitely the best line in the song, the wife and I always sing that part out loud!
Also in my playlist...
