I've read all the Reacher Novels, and will be going to the movie, but I Do Not think Tom Cruise was the right choice for the lead. I picture somebody who would look more like Trace Adkins. Cruise is to short and still has too much of the pretty boy look. (not as much as he used to.)

I really hope Cruise can pull it off.

I sure agree with you. Reacher in the books is 6'5" not a midget, lol. Lots of others could play the role; Cruise would be my last choice. Also, Reacher should not come across as arrogant like Cruise does.

 

Tom Cruise hasn't been right for many of the roles for which he has been cast. Another that comes to mind is as Ethan Hunt in the "Mission: Impossible" films.

I liked him a lot, though, in "Rain Man."

 

I've read most of the books, I too don't think Tom Cruise the right guy for the role, whoever played the bad guy in "No country for old men" gets my vote.

I'm not familiar with these books, but I felt the same way when Cruise was cast as the Vampire Lestat in Interview With the Vampire. But, he actually pulled off that role pretty well. Not as well as some others might have, but his performance wasn't completely lacking either.

At any rate he did the role better than Stuart Townsend did in Queen of the Damned. The book itself took us deeper into the Vampire Chronicles, but the movie just sucked. Wikipedia describes it as a "loose adaptation" of the book. I don't know that I give it that much credit.
