The Oldsmobile Club of Oklahoma is having a get together/swap meet today. The weather is nice so why not take a 450ish mile round trip drive. I look forward to meeting with whoever shows up. Pictures will follow.
So sad to hear about Rick Duden. He was a fixture in Oklahoma Oldsmobile arena. I met Rick in 1989 when the NTOC attended an Oldsmobile meet at Eskridge Olds in OK City. My 67 won the long distance driver award and he gave me a pristine 67 owners manual. I'm sure this meet will miss him.
And $120.00 later in gas, we have some pictures. It was a fun drive and great to finally put some faces to names. We would have had more cars, but there were conflicting events. Thankyou Matt and Bryan for putting this on. Pictures compliments by Bryan Burch, they were better than mine.
To see this in person made the trip really worth while. There is a thread in which it was brought back to life and raced in Mexico. Very cool build.
Do you know who owns the 54 La Carrea Panamericana Olds. There was a member in the NTOC in the mid 80's that was building one. Can't think of his name.

Member Okie88 owns the one in the pictures above. I can't find that race thread.
Thanks Eric. It was nice meeting you. The 53 was built by my father Max Wensel, my uncle Mac McKee and a friend Jimie Hendricks, in the late 80's. We raced it in the La Carrera Panamerica Mexican road race in 1992 with me and my brother in the support truck. My father, uncle and brother have all passed away since then. After 15 years of storage its been a challenge getting it back road worthy, but it's fun getting it out and I'm sure they would all appreciate that 30 years after it was built it's still getting some positive comments.

Cool car! Was Cocina De Mino your sponsor? I used to love going there when I lived in Norman. A couple of years ago, my wife and I stopped by the one remaining location, and the food was every bit as good.
We were passing through OKC last Saturday. I was tempted to swing by the event in Tuttle, but my wife and I were pretty tired and ready to get back to Dallas. Perhaps I can make it up there another time to see that cool car as well as all of the other great looking Oldsmobiles.
Cocina De Mino was one of our sponsors. At that time they had a downtown location in the Mid America tower where my father had an office. Him and the owner, Mario who was an old car guy were good friends.

That is cool! Seems like a great sponsor for your car in that event.
