I use to think the worst cars to work on were 4th gen LT1 f-bodies but I have a new contender. I've worked on several late 80's Camaros and Firebirds but they where stripped down race cars or tuned port cars and neither are any big deal.

I'm working on bone stock computer carbed 305 87 camaro right now. You want to talk about a nightmare. I have a solid 6 hours in it as of last night and the motor is finally ready to pull. The wire harness, heater hose, AIR tubes, smog pump, vac lines ect are a serious PITA. If you had to pull the passenger valve cover in the car it would be a 3 hour job.

Not if you had a 6 foot crow bar. It would only take about 5 minutes. Just put the crow bar under the lip of the valve cover and pry.

FWIW, I understand what you are saying. I have worked on many cars that have vacuum lines and wires going everywhere. I might have to replace the timing chain on my 2003 VW Beetle soon. I dread thinking how difficult that might be.
