HOORAH

I just got this in my email and thought it worth sharing. Thanks to all out there that serve.

A conversation overheard on the VHF Guard (emergency)
frequency 121.5 MHz while flying from Europe to Dubai .
It's too good not to pass along..

The conversation went like this...
Iranian Air Defense Radar:
'Unknown aircraft you are in Iranian airspace. Identify yourself.'
Aircraft:
'This is a United States aircraft. I am in Iraqi airspace.'
Air Defense Radar:
'You are in Iranian airspace. If you do not depart our airspace we will launch interceptor aircraft!'
Aircraft:
'This is a United States Marine Corps FA-18 fighter. Send 'em up, I'll wait!'
Air Defense Radar:
(no response .... total silence)

Too funny

They probably knew they would have to send up their entire airforce and didn't want take the chance on losing everything

Glad

It makes me glad that I was not born in that part of the world. I am reminded of the saying " there but for the grace of God go I "

Yeah, that's a good one for all of us "nationalistic" eagles. I had heard that before but it made me feel good to read it again. I served with Marines that were in the aviation field when I was in the Navy, nothing but professionals all the way.

Dad spent 33 years in the Air Force and I grew up in a lot of different places. Even spent 4 years overseas in the early 60's.
