Home Made Car From Down on the Farm!
What a long cold winter can produce
When you live on a farm you learn to "make do" with whatever you find in the barn!! This is the exact and perfect example
of why we save everything. This car has been built with all of the “junk” laying out back in the pile, and under the work bench,
and stuffed in the rafters. All this guy needed was a little time on his hands.
Spotted in Cannon Falls, MN on 5/23/12 – It’s a car? or a truck?

Check out the “gearing wheel” What do you see? Dash is a saw blade with handles attached - tractor hand brake - tachometer -
2 mirrors mounted on horse shoes - big truck signal switch mounted on left - single wiper motor.
How many men who grew up on a farm are now thinking – Why didn’t we do that?

The rear lamp frame built with saw blades and a chicken feeder box - manure spreader drive is still intact - horse shoe door hinges.

Tractor seats with pitchfork backs - seat belts - tractor compartment box behind driver seat - gear shift beside hand brake
- stereo & CD player on dash blade - the drive chains are still on the floor board.
Also please note that he put in seat belts - so he must be street legal?

I freaking love it. This shows ingineuity. This was built with nothing but left over junk. thsi wasn't built as a "rat rods" made to look old. This was actually built with junk this is borderline art car.

This wins my rat-rod award this year for sure. Too bad they had to raid the outhouse for the back seat. I guess you could even use it as long as the vehicle is in motion... Anyone know what he used for a chassis?
And if you think his town car is cool, check out his tractor! He plows the field in a whole new way.

See if'n y'all know the answer to this. Ellie May last name is 'Clampet, same as Jed and Granny. Without looking it up, what was Jethro's last name and why?

Jethro's Dad was Fred Bodine. Don't know what happened to him. He was never in the show - just Pearl on occasional visits.
BTW - the truck used in the BH? It is a 1921 Oldsmobile (REO) that cousin Pearl loaned them for the move to the big city...

The Beverly Hillbillies went off the air in 1971, and Baer made numerous guest appearances on television. However, he found himself typecast by his former role. He then concentrated on feature motion pictures.
Baer wrote and produced the drama Macon County Line (1974), in which he played Deputy Reed Morgan. It was the highest-grossing movie per dollar invested at the time. Made for just US$110,000, it earned almost US$25 million at the box office. This record would last until it was broken by The Blair Witch Project in 1999.
Baer also wrote, produced, and directed the drama The Wild McCullochs (1975), in which he played Culver Robinson.
He then got the idea of using the title of a popular song as a movie title, acquiring the rights to the Bobbie Gentry hit song and producing Ode to Billy Joe (1976). Made for US$1.1 million, it grossed US$27 million at the box office, plus earnings in excess of US$2.65 million in the foreign market, US$4.75 million from television, and US$2.5 million from video. The film starred Robby Benson and Glynnis O'Connor.
Since the success of Ode to Billy Joe, the motion picture industry has capitalized on the idea, producing more than one hundred song title movies. Baer decided to pursue the rights to the hit song "Like a Virgin", recorded by the singer Madonna in 1984. When ABC tried to prevent him from making the film, he sued and won a judgment of more than US$2 million.
He directed the comedy Hometown USA (1979), then retired to his home at Lake Tahoe, Nevada. He still makes occasional guest appearances on television.
Baer has said he feels playing Jethro Bodine sank his acting career. He was asked by Paul Henning to reprise the role for a 1981 television movie, but he declined. He saw that tourists paid a US$5 to US$6 admission to tour the "Ponderosa Ranch", which was the location for filming some episodes of TV's Bonanza. There was nothing to see but a working cattle ranch, but people enjoyed it because of the Bonanza connection. Baer decided that tourists would also pay for something dealing with The Beverly Hillbillies. He began using his Jethro Bodine role as a marketing opportunity toward the gambling and hotel industry. Baer obtained the sublicensing rights, including food and beverage rights, to The Beverly Hillbillies from CBS in 1991. His business partner estimates the cost of obtaining the rights and developing the ideas has been US$1 million. Sixty-five Beverly Hillbillies slot machines were built in 1999 and placed in ten casinos.[1]
In late 2003, Baer attempted the redevelopment of a former Wal-Mart location in Carson City into a Beverly Hillbillies-themed hotel and casino, but was unsuccessful due to building code conflicts and other developers on the neighboring properties. On May 4, 2007, Baer announced the sale of the property and the purchase of another parcel just outside of Carson City, in neighboring Douglas County, where he expected less resistance to his plans. Baer purchased a 2.5-acre (10,000 m2) parcel in north Douglas County for $1.2 million, and will purchase an additional 20 acres (81,000 m2) once he has obtained the required zoning variances. The plans are for a 40,000-square-foot (3,700 m2) gambling area with 800 slot machines and 16 tables, flanked by various eateries including "Jethro's All You Ken Et Buffet". The project would feature a showroom, cinema complex and a 240-room, five-story hotel.[2]
Plans for Baer's casino included a 200-foot-tall (61 m) mock oil derrick spouting a 20 to 30-foot (9.1 m) flame.

The "car" above, (if that's what you call it) is great and very inventive. I wonder if the builder had a plan or just winged it when he found something else on the farm. I suspect a lot of thought went into what looks like NO thought went into.
Now, for "The Beverly Hillbillies"---shows like that don't exist anymore except on the vintage television channels. Today's "Humor" for the most part is degrading to someone and IMO is just not funny. The years shows like that ran, were full of 1/2 comedies that were clean, family oriented, and all around funny and entertaining. I just made that episode a "favorite" on my computer. Thanks for posting.
With all due respect, I somewhat disagree on the opinions on the comments about no interesting cars being produced after the seventies. While my heart is with '60s and '70s Muscle Cars, I have to say that my C5 Corvette is one awesome car. I've had it going on nine years now and I really can't say much "BAD" about it. It is comfortable, has more than adequate power and gets 30mpg on a trip. Hard to believe, but it does get that mileage. My wife and I both love it! And I have to admit , it is one good-lookin' car---a 2000 Arctic White Coupe w/ Torch Red leather, polished wheels, and Glass roof. And for the money, some of the newer 'Vettes are world class automobiles. I've asked my wife if she would like me to update ours and she LOVES the color combination and overall package the one we have provides---so if she is happy, I'm happy. Again MY 1st love is Oldsmobile Muscle Cars, but that 'Vette of ours is one helluva car.
