my '68 came to me with a black painted LH IFW... to match the RH unit. RF corner was evidently crunched, so fender and IFW were replaced... with whatever was available.... so to make the LH unit match, they painted it black. For years I wondered what that HOLE was in there for, and gee I should go to the boneyard and get one w/o a HOLE in it, right?
