Watching Nascar today and was getting really perturbed with all the cars basically the same and running the same gear etc. How mundane. This IS the National Association of Stock car Racing, am I wrong? Where the hell are the stock cars. Those Camrys really freakin' run! Same with the Ford Fusion. What a scalder. I long for the days when the cars looked like the car you could buy off your showroom floor. No more. What a finish! Airborn. Edwards bided his time at the back of the pack for all the wrecks to clear and ends the race in the best wreck of the race. Cracked me up the way he ran across the finish line ala Ricky Bobby. I just hate the homogenization, ya know? Those guys can DRIVE!

 

I agree those guys CAN drive, but looking at essentially identical cars excepting engines going around in circles just doesn't do anything for me. I wish they would go back to car bought off the floor and modified to race on the track. Personally I think the domestics would not be in the state they are in if they were still competing on the track. They would have HAD to improve and offer products that the buying public wanted. Ol Henry had it right way back when " what wins on Sunday day sells on Monday" I think that's the quote anyhow.

 

I saw part of the race today as well and it was pretty exciting. 2 big pileups and right at the end Edwards goes air-bone and almost coast into the crowd. If NASCAR was still using cars that could be bought on the showroom floor I'd be at the Ford dealership tomorrow morning asking for the number 99. In my opinion any car that flips into the air and still leaves the driver in a position to run across the finish line is a good sturdy set of wheels.

 

i can't watch it any more. it makes me mad how they change the rules to "make the fans happy". all they do is make people mad. what happened to letting them race and let the fans enjoy them doing what they do best. Tony Stuert said it right, that they are more like the WWF now.

 

Exactly why I like demo derbies, dirt track and drag races.
All the colors of the rainbow still show up.
One minute I'm staged with a 75 vega, and the next, an 03 mustang.

the problem according to the drivers is the restrictor plate.

it keep the cars so close,eventually a wreck happens.

NASCAR figures that's what the fans want,and that's what they got.

if you didn't have restrictor plates,Hendricks and Roush cars would win almost every race on the big tracks.

as a matter of fact,they already do.

what's really funny is the truck owned by Randy Moss won in the Craftsman race.

 

It doesn't matter much on short tracks but on big tracks I would like to see them show what they got. Not real exciting when you are watching them all go 194mph down the back staight at Talladega. All the safety regulations and wrecks have shown them to walk away from major wrecks so I would prefer to see them race more like Indy cars.
