Got burnt
So sunday I was firing up my engine on an engine running stand . I don't think we where rushing our selves but what I think happened was a small series of mistakes we didnt realize we where making . Which we can make and unfortunately for me I got the bulk of it. Our adapter piece blew off and I got blasted in roughly 220 degree water. I got 1st degree burns to my neck and 2nd degree burns to my chest area arm pit and arm. One thing that went wrong was I had a thermostat. Which for me is normal because I always break in my cams with a t stat installed but I always have broken them in., in the car so the fan is closer to the radiator and everything usually works as it should. Im not mad but guys it can happen you anyone. From now on im doing a roller cam. So guys In short even when you think you have crossed your t's and dotted your i's something can go wrong. This really reminds me that this is still a dangerous hobby and anything can go wrong even when you think you have your bases covered.

Man I am so sorry. Can't believe you have the presence of mind, or the desire to be on CO right now.
My wife used to work for a dermatologist - go see an expert soon and follow his treatment instructions if you want to minimize scarring.

Hell, these days I wear goggles to brush my teeth! Sorry for the mis-hap Copper but glad it didn't get you in the face. Let me know if you need anything. I might have some old Vicodin laying around

Yikes! Good luck with a speedy recovery.
I had a freeze plug (installed by the shop!) let go while breaking in an engine on a stand. Very large second degree burn down my leg and foot. I'm lucky it happened on a stand - my alternative was to put it in the car, and there's a fair chance I would have been under it!
Remember to change the bandage at least daily! Aquaphor (and opiate of your choice) will be your best friend. Also watch out - "non stick" bandages at the pharmacy do NOT work for burns. Get plenty of supplies from the hospital of the coated bandages.

The bandges I got where regular but the nurse told me to use the creame on the gauze vs putting it on the open areas and it seems to do the trick. The pain is low to be honest. I had to wait 4 hrs before I went to the er. I was in wisc. 1 hr away so I waited an hour to call for a ride then it took 1.5 hr for my ride to get there and the 1.5 to get back. Talk about pain wooooo. I'm going back to work tommorow. My arm is just a little sore.

That's a brutal deal copper, Good to hear your pain isn't as bad as it looks. I couldn't imagine how I would handle it. Your a tough guy to bounce back so quickly. Cheers to a speedy recovery.

Holy skin boils, Batman!
Man - I felt pain deep inside when I saw that! Glad it was not in the face...
I feel for ya - I wish you a fast recovery and the pain to subside.
Take it easy for a while and see the doc if the pain is too great.
Accidents happen, and noone is immune.
A few years ago i was edging the yard in front along the curb and the edger started sliding off. Without thinking I reached down quickly to pull it back. Grabbed the muffler with my left hand - i will not even describe the looks or feels... Bad thing was I was going on a two week driving trip a few days after and could only drive with one hand. While kind of an accident, I think it was the dumbest thing I ever did. It happens...
Get well soon!!
