Gas pump video ads

They've found another way to invade your space with advertising.

Shell station where I buy a lot of gas recently installed pumps with video screens. Soon as you start pumping that video screen comes alive with ads and useless trivia. Can't turn it off or even mute it either, and it's loud as hell. I let the c-store manager know what I thought of it yesterday afternoon. All she says "most customers like it". Well, lady, I don't.

Honest to god you can't get away from the crap anywhere. Always bombarded with ads. I make it a point to NOT buy anything advertised on a computer screen- especially if it's a popup or like some youtubes that force you to watch a 15 second ad before you can view the content.

Yeah, I haven't seen the video monitors at the pumps around my area but I hate the "radio station" they play, as if they are doing us a favor of playing advertisements sparsely seasoned with a song every ten minutes they even have a DJ reading script.

You mean they ~finally~ did that in your area? You were lucky to be in peace this long.
One of the local Walmarts here have been doing that for the past 5 years or more.
Makes me not want to fill up there.
I have even seen screens over uninals in some public restrooms around here. Makes me want to "aim high"!

Youtube has ads?
(I love Firefox with adblock...)

I forget what movie it was, but it was set in the future & the guy was eating a bowl of cereal with the box right next to him & the box had a tv? screen on it trying to sell him stuff right at his table. Probably not long before something like that becomes a reality...

Tim Hortons (the coffee people) recently changed their in-store TV screens from a 24 Hr news channel to a Tims ,almost constant ad machine with occasional CBC news. Kinda makes you not want to see it at all!! Grrr.

An unnecessary part of life today that none of us seem to like but tolerate, kind of like negative political ads on television, we all hate them so why are they still around?

While long a part of Stooge lore, these attorneys at law are truly fictitious, at least in the world of The Three Stooges and their films. The famous poster with Larry, Moe and Curley as Dewey, Cheatem & Howe was created only as a publicity item as The Boys never portrayed these characters. Also, there is no office door in any short with the Dewey, Cheatem and Howe moniker. The closest reference was the character I. Cheatham in the 1945 short ‘Three Pests In A Mess’.

I think you tacked this onto the wrong discussion.

When I aim high, it'll not be intended for urinal-viewing. That'll be when the film royalties start, if anything

It was in the related threads of the lawyer advertising thread. Sometimes, esp on a phone, the site will take you into a place you didn't intend to go.

'Course the incongruity is often good for a laugh!😸

However, as time goes on, ever more persons are taking on Curly's role. Even if the motive lies in an unconscious realm
