Game Cameras - Poor Quality???
I need to vent here.
I have had 3 Bushnell Game Cameras fail in a row.
Camera #1 lasted 5 months and died.
Cameras #2 & 3 both ate a set of 8 lithium batteries in a week, where they claim a one year battery life.
So, I decided to switch brands and bought a Cuddyback....it was DOA of the package.
So, 4 failed game cameras in a row.......

My neighbor had a new bushnell cam go bad last year and he gave it to me to look at.
Aster disassembly, I found that it would work only when the circuit board was lightly twisted. The solder connections that i could see looked okay, but could have been a microscopic failure, or poor connections under a BGA IC, or what I have seen before, broken IC leads as they go into the IC package.
In other words, unrepairable by most people, including the factory...
My neighbor than sent it back to bushnell and they naturally did not have that model but upgraded him to the next one up at additional cost.
I had some bushnell binoculars that had the eyepiece lens pop in as I cleaned it. They told me to send them in so they could look at it, but for what they cost, I am better off buying a new one.
Most of this new stuff is disposable, and top dollar does not mean better quality. I have seen $2k TVs thrown away as they were not repairable due to some 64 pin BGA IC that was bad but had to be programmed before installation.
Sad....
As much as i think the high-tech tiny stuff is cool, I stay away from it as much as I can or buy used or cheap.
