Fun Olds Connection

My sister inlaw was here visiting. We decided to go to the Indian Casino today. We decided to have breakfast on the way. Stopped in a little town, Oakdale Ca.When I parked, I was next to a ruff 72 Olds 88. It was in black primer, black wheels, like you find on a truck, it had T/A fended scoops, a rear spoiler, two extra tires and wheels in the back seat, had a window sticker on back window, which said, This is my father's Oldsmobile. Also some other Olds stickers on it, plus bullet holes. When I got out of the car, and was enjoying this Olds, the owner was standing by the door holding it open. He said you like my nice Olds? I said yes, very interesting, and I had a 72 88 in 72. We had a nice laugh, and went inside. He sat across from us, I think he had another guy join him foe awhile. When he got up, he came over, and asked if I knew the Christmas story movie, and how the father was a Olds and we talked and laughed about it. When we got to leave, the lady said hows breakfast was, I said good, which it was, and all I needed was the bill. She said you have no bill, that guy next to us bought are breakfast. I guess he is a regular and does this before. He was gone when we left, never got to thank him. Oakdale is small town, my be some one also has seen this car? Never had this happen to me before.

Neat story, I attended a small car show over the weekend where I found a 66 Delta 88 on display. This car was basic transportation for the owner. I finally caught him beside the car and I made it a point to congratulate him for driving an Olds. I think I made a friend. We need to stick together as there aren't many of us around any more.

Hey Harv, I’m pretty sure I have seen that car around town before. I haven’t had the chance to talk to the owner though. Where did you get breakfast at? There are some good places in Oakdale. It’s funny you mentioned A Christmas Story, I just bought the t-shirt with the quote on it for my son. https://www.teepublic.com/t-shirt/68...sku=6877141D1V

The restaurant was,Huckleberrys. Never been to one, but they had a great breakfast menu.Lots of different things than most breakfast menu. There was three of us and we all ordered, something different, and was something non of us ever had before. Had quite a few Cajun type items.

Sometimes amazing things happen when we are cordial to someone new and allow them to share friendly visitation.

I am an active member of the Old ****** Forums having many members up here in the northern part of California. It is a great blessing to have people to visit who are also share similar interests and to compare notes of our 'builds'.

My friend Jim Serr, in Lincoln, Ca., is in need of a qualified welder to box the frame of his CJ2A. He has it prepped but, due to his age, 70, and eye sight, he wishes to hire out the welding chore.
If there are any young (below 80) members who may be up to the challenge or know of a good shop to contact in the Lincoln, Roseville area, please let me know. a PM is ok if you wish.
