Dose any one remember those fire truck drag races they had on I think American cavalcade of sports?It had to be in the late 60's early 70's.

Never heard of it, but the son of the owner of the junkyard I used to work in used to take the flatbed truck down to the track to race on weekends - he'd be tuning it up during the week and didn't like me driving it.

Finally found this pic after a lot o searching.The car "truck" did at least 120 slide to a stop with 2 guys jumping off and throwing off the ladder before the car was stopped.The ladder went against a beam that went across the track. One of the guys ran up the ladder and rang a bell which stoped the clock.I remember the guy being to the top of the ladder before it touched the beam.The car was moveing pretty good when they jumped off and the speed was what forced the ladder up.
