I'm glad - he deserves it!
He got me to be a Cubs fan, back in the day - phenominal pitcher!

Didn't know he was a Canadian, though -

He was born in Chatam, ON. It's funny because when I saw the news of Canada Post honouring him I looked him up. On one page (Wikipedia) it says "....he is not African American, he is Black Canadian".

Of the 20 or so black people I know, they refer to themselves only as "Canadian"; Not African American, African Canadian, Black, or Black Canadian...only Canadian. So I don't know where they came up with that.

Cool beans!
My Dad was/is a Cub fan. Switched allegiance when the Braves left town. He always said Fergie was the man! I was kinda a Cubbie myself, but came to my senses when the Brew Crew got Harvey's Wallbangers going.

Judge me by the content of my character not the color of my skin. Size of my ears. Twang to my speech. OR the twitch of my left eyelid when I spot an Oldsmobile project car for sale.

I grew up near Chicago and have been a Cubs fan all my life. Fergie was always my favorite pitcher. His was one card I never put in my bike spokes. My mother used to send me and my brother and sisters on a bus from the far south side all the way to Wrigley Field to watch them play. We used to pay $1.25 for bleacher seats. I was lucky enough to have seen Fergie in his prime playing with the likes of Ernie Banks, Billy Williams, Ron Santo, Don Kessinger and Randy Hundley. Those were the days...back in '69 when the Cubs finally won the World Series!! Oops, no, wait...the Black cat! That was a dream?!! Curse you New York!!

Congrats Fergie!
