Seems to me that only SOME veterans and few other people , take flag etiquette seriously anymore .

awesome !! how many people today would even know how to fold a flag ? I learned as a cub scout, remember this video !!
sadly today that kind of respect is vanishing fast !! don't get me started.

 

The second high school I went to had a tattered flag, and I commented that that was bad to a teacher. He asked me if I knew how to take care of one, I mentioned my Eagle Scout credentials and he promptly had the school deliver an all weather flag to me. So, on the way to breakfast, I'd put it up by myself, which you can do from a folded one, and at dark I'd take it down, borrow someone if around, if not use a table, to fold it. I half masted it for Columbine.
