Wow Joe! That's an understatement. I did some cost projections on buying a Thornton for my car (including the breather and hardware). By the time it's paid, shipped, (and import taxed) fitted and tweaked, painted and taxed again? I was looking at over 5,000.00 just for a hood. That's why I haven't done the W25 hood. I'll stick with my factory louvered one - it's in mint shape.

After reading this thread over and over, and the new additions, just so sorry that I couldn't make it out that night. Sounds as if all had a great time. I have an acquaintance that I put in the catagory of "OB", i.e one better, whatever you say. Last night he told me that the 88 designation in an Oldsmobile was because it was an 88 degree angle motor, instead of a 90 degree. I calmly asked, "what about the 98"? No answer.

We had to postpone the Fall Zone show (October) due to lack of a hotel that would "work with us". Fees too high, etc. We are looking to have the NTOC Zone Show in late March/early April, and will advise as soon as the details are worked out. Host hotel has to be fairly close to an 1/8th mile strip, so we can (try to) race! Right now Redline (out IH30 toward Greenville) and the strip oht 175 toward Crandall, along with the strip north of Denton on IH35 where been able to race one time; all other times it rained. Will keep you posted on CO as things come together.

Careful making any plans around Crandall. Its a super nice track but barley making enough money to keep its doors open. It was already shut down early this year do to finances. Its back open now and I hope it does stay open but I would not plan any events around it.

I like the idea of meeting up around Austin.
I am looking forward to meeting some of you guys.

What about my Funny Looking Chevelle, would I offend anyone? Hopefully I'll have the front end rebuilt by then, and it'll drive anywhere!

I asked this question earlier in the post, on Sunday mornings Busy B's bakery, on the SW side of Fort Worth, a lot of old hot rodders and muscle car enthusiast gather for coffee, pastries and tales. It starts early and ends when the last car leaves. Would some of you guys like to meet up?

My work prevents me from driving to evening get togethers in the Metroplex.

Just 15 miles south of Grandbury is Glen Rose and Dinosaur Valley State Park. If anyone is interested in meeting there and making a day trip, I am game.
It is a nice area to picnic, swim, wade and float down the river in a tube. Nice for the whole family.
I was there 3 years ago and enjoyed it.

This will work for me, too, weather permitting of course. We got an unusual amount of rain this past week.

I will go on Sunday the 2nd, as long as there is no chance for rain.
Bring the Olds, the family and a lunch - lots of places to explore. Many picnic areas there if you get there before noon. Bring a tube or float and definetly some shoes to wear in the water. And no speedos!
Here is a site to the park - a map can be printed, too.

This is best a daytime place, I would say get there by 11am before it gets too hot. We can chat, look at cars, have lunch, hike, float, and everyone can leave when they want.
I will be there a while, so anyone coming later, could (within reason).

I just realized this is Memorial Day weekend, so I expect a crowd. Therefore we would need to get there at 11 at the latest; 10 is better.
Too difficult to save parking spots, but I can at least grab a pick-a-nick spot.
Spouses and kids are welcome as long as they can behave.

Yep - she can help carry the cooler!
Unfortunately, public consumption of alcohol is prohibited in the park, so if you want to bring some brews, they must be well concealed. Mountain Dew bottles work well!

Eric?
We mention dinosaurs and his name pops up.

He lives in Maine, so that would be a heck of a drive for a one day event!

Thats the problem with using screen names - too difficult to remember REAL names. Age doesn't help, either....

Whattay mean AGE doesn't help??? Course it does. The older you gets the more helps ya needs...

You've never seen Eric (MDchanic)'s 73 Delta vert? It's pink and has a wiffle puff 260. I think he said geezers with walkers could take him from a stop light...and it will do 0-30mph in about 37 seconds??? Now my friend - THAT's a 'wiffle puff'.... That reminds me I gotta send him some pics of a REAL 73 Delta with a REAL 455.

Think of it this way - it's a great way to keep the social network of TX C.O. members talking?

Naw. BUT, what y'all can do is create a 'Social Group' and name it for texans! Den you can invite all de texans in de state to join an rabble rouse. It's more private and not open to the general C.O. community unless you invite them or allow them in. You could act as an administrator of sorts. If you're curious about how to set it up? Get in touch with Scot (GAOldsdman). He set up one for Special Order Oldsmobiles.

But if'n y'all want I can just unsubscribe from this thread so I don't keep interrupting..

As many know, Rob rarely travels anywhere without a camera!

So it looks like we have three of us confirmed for 9-2 - any others? Just let us know!
Or heck, just meet us on out there unannounced if you want!

Hopefully Allan will make the drive on down................
