Cool Project Idea
I know this is a little off the subject of Oldsmobiles, but I have a cool idea. I know that the 1961-1972 Chevy C10 shortbed pickup and the 1964-1967 GM A-Bodies have the same 115" wheelbase.
These trucks are pretty cheap to get, and with a junkyard frame you could add bolt in aftermarket suspension to make it handle.
How cool would it be to combine the pickup with the A-Body chassis to make a killer handling truck, on a budget?

A few months ago a member here posted pictures of I think a 1959 Chebby pickup that was mounted to a 1974 Cutlass frame. I believe the drivetrain was all from the Cutlass and it was just the sheetmetal from the truck.
About 20 years ago I bought some 1970 Vista Cruiser body parts from a guy in Albany Oregon. He pull the body off the Vista Cruiser frame and set about a 1956 Buick 2 door on the chassis. He told me that even the steering column came through at the right place. He fabricated body mounts to match the Vista frame an the end results looked factory. Nice drivetrain, steering, suspension with older vintage sheetmetal.
It all depends on what you want and how big of a project you have time/money for. John

I wouldn't it's no longer a truck when you put a car frame under it. Plus like I said those year of trucks have more parts for them than the Cutlass does. You wouldn't be able to haul anything with it, but what do I know I only build frames for a living. Not saying it can't be done because I have seen the same kind of thing, but it seams like a complete waste of time because of the year of truck. If it was an older truck that would benefit like John was talking about an 59 or older than yes.

BlueVista [in his spare time] did a Photoshop chop job for me. I'd like to try it but there is alot to consider. ![Confused](https://classicoldsmobile.com/forums/images/smilies/confused.gif)
In another thread [that I can't find of course] Joe P was thinking out loud of using a Toro front differential to put together a 4 X 4 Vista

Take out the engine and transmission. The one ton would have th400 so you could take the output shaft out of it and put it in a BOP th400. Than you would need the mounting bracket for the engine mounts out a blazer that had 350 Olds dx in it. To make the engine work.
After that just making the body to frame mounts work, and 100 other little things.
